It's good to see that all fans engage in the "What if" or "if only" when it seems that there are some close games that don't go your way, it's always tempting to say those two phrases. I know that in golf it's the same way -as I am told so often by my playing partners - and one rarely goes back when it goes the other way. How many of us have said, "we should really have been 5 -3", when we're 8 - 0, and have had some fortuitous bounces, or good luck? Not many - me included.

I find that I score a lot better when I count my strokes after the hole is already completed.  That way if something forgettable happens, I simply do.  ;)

Anyone happen to see Buffalo State beat another ranked team today?  They knocked off #25 St. John's Fischer 17-9.
2008-09 and 2012-13 WIAC Fantasy League Champion

2008-09 WIAC Pick'Em Tri-Champion

I thought for sure Brekke would see the field being senior day and all....but I guess not. Behrendt still has a lot to learn, starting with not throwing the ball to the other team.

The defense filled up the box score. 7 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, forced fumble and an int. McLin got another pick...he's going to be something special the next couple of years.

Emma: you'll be happy to see that kindler went 4-4 on FGs, and punting duties was left exclusively to Gardener today. Although UWW only punted once  ;D

Missed you today 02.  Although the score doesn't really show it, the offense did a pretty good job of moving the chains.  I was surprised to see Behrendt only had 124 yards.  He made some impressive throws on sideline routes.  The first interception wasn't too big a deal, it was 3rd down and forever.  The second was not so good-into the arms of a D lineman under blitz pressure.  His scrambling ability is a big plus.  No deep throws that I can remember.

I look forward to the day when UWW puts slant and crossing routes into their passing game, it will help the QB and offense a ton.

D O.C.

and a good defense would love to see those crossing routes over the middle

Emma - you seem extremely knowledgable on the X's and O's of football. You must be a former player.  UWW is always searching for top assistant coachesl I think you should apply!

QB Andy Sires had a very good game, and three Freshman RB's stepped up as the UWL offense blitzed UWRF for 38 pts. in a fairly easy victory at Ramer Field. The result was as surprising as it was gratifying, and the players and coaches are to be congratulated for their handling of a difficult situation. The Falcons helped the Eagles with an early turnover on a bad punt snap, and the Eagles took advantage while surging to a 24-3 halftime lead. The win means that coach Dettwiler's squad has at least one more win than last year, and can point to progress in the bottom line W-L record. It should be mentioned that this year's schedule was tougher than last year's, which included one weak non-conference opponent. WW will be favored to win in La Crosse on Saturday, but an upset would be a real asset in rebuilding enthusiasm for the Eagle program.

Let's take a moment to congratulate coach Pat Cerroni and the UWO Titans on their championship season. After going 16-19 in his first 5 WIAC seasons, Cerroni led the Titans to their first 9 win season in 116 years of football. I am among those who suspect that the WIAC champs will make some noise in the playoffs, and will be pleased to see them enjoy success in the post season. As a long-time observer of the WIAC, it is fun to see a program that enjoyed relatively litttle success turn things around. I really believe that this development is good for the conference as well. Good luck to the Titans in the D3 playoffs.

+K Brian!!!

I second what Brian said!!!  Coach Cerroni is a GREAT guy so I couldn't be happier for him and his team.  To think back to all the losing seasons the football team has had in the past, it's refreshing to see some success at Titan Stadium this year.

UWO has been nothing but extremely impressive- starting last year and then getting it done this year.  Congratulations to the entire program as they have certainly earned it.  I hope they go all the way.

Commenting on the corners, I think both of them did a fine job yesterday. The only long pass was the 23 or so yard fade on Grayvold which was real good coverage but just an even better throw and catch, was down in the corner of the Perk and saw the whole thing. I think these 2 will be good for the next 2 years!

Thanks Voice.  It's not any special knowledge I have though, it's just that my eye sight is pretty good.

Keep in mind that the playoffs can be a little intimidating if it is something new. I'm not trying to belittle the accomplishment of UWO, just cautioning that if they do not make a deep run, it's not that they're not worthy, but that it's a new experience, and it can get into the heads of those to whom it is a step not yet taken..

I was going to suggest you draw it up on a napkin and hand it to Lance at QB Club on Wednesday. Then you could put the rest of what you know about football on the other side.
;D

(Totally kidding...I know you know a lot, but couldn't resist the one liner!)
