Keep in mind that three teams in the MIAC have been in the Top 25, and a fourth could also be considered. I know you are WIACcentric, but really!

Keep in mind a 3-3 team in our conference lost by 3 to the number 1 team in MIAC land and lost by a combined total of 123-49 in 3 games to our number 1 and number 2 teams in the WIAC.

Week one is a long time ago and UST is incredibly young this year (unfortunately for the MIAC  :o). And that same 3-3 WIAC team lost the next week to a team that is 3-4 in the MIAC ;)

In a typical year, the WIAC takes this argument. But the MIAC is a tougher league this year than in years past. Not saying better than the Eastern neighbors, but we've had more parity and a great non-con year.

Which as nothing to do with making the playoffs

But they are regionally ranked also -- you guys know that. Nitpick if you like but the MIAC has a legit argument to be in the discussion.

Pat, I don't think anybody is saying the MIAC isn't a strong conference-or deserving of three entrants based upon the objective criteria used.  I'm not even arguing that UWP should be in.  I realize the objective criteria has been in place to determine Pool C and thems the rules.  My post was just meant for discussion- wins/losses and SOS aren't necessarily the best indicator of whether a team should get into the playoffs- especially if the ultimate goal is to have the best teams participate.  I'd be surprised if people felt UWP is less worthy of a playoff bid than Bethel, Concordia, Wheaton, NCC, Elmhurst, H-berg and on and on.  Not because I'm saying UWP would beat them- nobody knows that.  But UWP is the 12th ranked team in the country by D3 Football- while the objective criteria says UWP is by far the least likely of these teams to make the playoffs

Perhaps there is room for some of the BCS logic of poll results when picking Pool C teams.

I am going to have to agree with Emma17 on this one.

The above bolded words in my opinion are mutually exclusive!    ;D 8-)   However, I do agree that picking Pool C could use some refinement.

I agree, like finding a way where it includes a three-loss defending national champion team  ;D

This week's WIAC Matchups

Great report 02- Lobster Bibs-Ha!!
I didn't realize the UWW pass attack was last- and ten trips into red zone w/out scoring?  Ouch.
You're right- passing "attack" is a misnomer.
I'll say it again loud and clear- regardless of injuries or experience, the route selection in the UWW passing game is the biggest reason for the red zone struggles.

Yea, some of those stats were shocking to me as well. What a difference a year makes. Next season can't come fast enough for Warhawk fans.

But as a DIII fan, I'll still enjoy following the tournament. Like always, I'll still print off the tournament bracket and pin it up at work. Then I'll fill it in as each team wins.

Well, at least for this Warhawk fan, Saturday marks an end and a new beginning.  It will be the last game as a player for #65, and my last in the stands as a players parent.   Having continued to occassionally go to his former high school to watch games, the experience is entirely different.   He may become a Student Assistant next year and help coach, but that is between him and the program.   If it does happen, I will most likely continue to come to home games to root for UWW.   It is bittersweet for us.   Sad, that it is coming to an end, but so amazingly proud of what this group of seniors has accomplished during their 4 year career.  I listened to his interview at halftime of the last homegame that was on the radio and the growth that has occurred during his 4 years in terms of maturity and leadership was evident and it totally underscored how right the decision was for him to attend UWW versus any of the other schools that were in the mix.

Personally, the friendships that we have made have magnified the experience and taken  it to a whole different level.   Not only friendships with UWW tailgate friends, but with D3 friends.   One of the most enjoyable times, was last year's trip to Franklin and the wonderful tailgating experience there.  The Franklin people, students, parents and coaches are first class.   Made friends of some St. Thomas fans prior to last years semi-final and yes, even made friends with some UMU fans over the 3 championships.   The Blanchard family helped facilitate that having sons who played at both schools.

The good news is that those friendships can  and will continue, albeit in a different context.   So the drive to La Crosse saturday morning will be bittersweet and I am sure the drive home that night will be filled with reflection and pride.   I want to say  Thanks to all of you have been part of the experience during these 4 years of being a player's parent.  I cannot even express how much fun it has truly been.  Lastly, I want to thank D3football and D3boards for providing the information and forum to learn about d3 football across the country.  Pat and his team do a great job for all of us.

Thanks to all.

You can also add the Tommies beat UWRF 43-9, while UWO beat them 19-7.  I think the Tommies had a slow start to the season and definately would have a more decisive victory over UWEC if they had played later in the season

The thanks goes to you and your son WarhawkDad.  The players and their parents have enabled all of us UWW fans to enjoy a multi-year experience that still seems like a dream.  Best of luck to #65 this weekend and in all he does.

Hell yea WD! The past four years have been a blast, it was great getting to know. Don't be stranger at the Perk or on these boards.

I wish you and your family the best.

Oshkosh QB Nate Wara needs 120 total yards to reach 10,000 yards for his career. Just 3 players have done that in WIAC history.

Anyone happen to know who the other three are?

I think he'd be the third:

14,847--Kirk Baumgartner (STP), 1986-89
10,107--Reed Giordana (STP), 1974-77
St. Norbert College Green Knights

then so is the WIAC records page, because that's where I looked. It lists him as fourth:
9,518--Dave Geissler (STP), 1982-85
9,504--Tom Stetzer (PLT), 2000-03

UWP's record book lists the 10,054 figure as total yards, with 9,555 for his career passing yards.
