Platteville got hosed.  JMO

BW- I feel bad for UWP as well.  I hesitate to use the word "hosed" simply because the criteria for Pool C are pretty clear and accordingly, UWP didn't rate well.  This of course is entirely different than whether UWP is a worthy playoff team.  I'm not a fan of the Pool C criteria as it exists as there is way too much emphasis on  SOS, which simply can't be applied fairly across the board.  UWP played Dubuque this year.  Dubuque went 9-1 in the regular season last year- this year they went 5-5.

Anyway, a very impressive season for UWP given what they had to overcome.  Not many teams could go down to their #3 QB and finish the season 8-2.

retagent

I would guess, and it's only that, but based on prior experience, that UWP and Concordia are probably better than about 1/2 of the teams in the field. Unfortunately, or not, the field is not inteneded to be the 32 best teams in the country. (I believe I've read that somewhere else) but those teams who "qualified" for that field through a set of criteria, that, like all human efforts, is flawed. Don't reject the good, just because it's not perfect.

As a WIAC fan I agree, but from an overall D3 standpoint, it is hard to argue the differences between 8-2 teams.   The reality is they lost twice, regardless of the margin of victory by UWW.    I actually think UWP has a great chance next year given the talent they obviously have.   UWW is going to have to step it up next year.   Also the loss of Nate Wara is going to have a larger impact on UWO than most understand.    Yes they are good both sides of the ball, but as we saw, the difference between going 10-0, 9-1, or 8-2 in the WIAC is razor thin.    Example of that is UWW this year.   Major losses due to graduaction, Injuries and lack of consistency from skill positions all contributed.

Correct. The field is meant to have all the conference champions and the best (seven, this year) at-large bids. No NCAA Tournament bracket has the best 32, 64 or 68 teams in it, on any level.

So Platteville loses to two top 10 teams (at the time), and they should have won the Whitewater game, and they get to stay home. Again, the conference cancels itself out of the playoffs. What a darned shame, they seem to be really playing well now and are most likely the best 8-2 team in the country. What a shame. The one year the Warhawks stumble, it would have been great to get two teams that NEVER go to the playoffs the opportunity to shine.

It pains me. but go Titans.....go.

"At the time" is key there. As we learned this year, UWW is anything but a top 10 team.

413, I noticed Cutler was knocked out of last night's game with, I assume, a concussion from the hard hit he took.  I haven't checked on his status since then but I was thinking that it might be possible that he will be unable to play this coming weekend.  My thought is that would likely result in Matt's moving to the active roster.  Please keep us in the loop if that's the case.

Well, but it is an NCAA Tournament. This should not be a surprise. The Atlantic Sun and MEAC and MAAC champion wouldn't be in the Top 68 of Division I most given years but they all get into the D-I basketball field.

And seeing one of those schools most folks have never heard of actually upset a 'big boy' every once in a while is one of the greatest attractions of March Madness.

Whatever the reasoning...still a shame.  This is where I start zoning out.  My team's not in the playoffs and the first couple rounds are usually not that interesting to anyone outside of the parents because the best teams are not necessarily in the playoffs and many games are so lopsided.  (There are exceptions, of course.)  I'll be rooting for UWO of course and may watch them on line if they are still in it a couple games down the road.  GO TITANS!

Bears are said to sign Josh McCown to backup Campbell.

I actually find the first couple rounds to be more interesting. Once you get to the Final 4, it's pretty much the same combination of teams (This year UWW is missing but there is still Linfield, UMU, ST Thomas, and MHB). My biggest complaint over the last decade has been the lack of diversity in the final. At least we know ONE of the teams will be different this year (I know this isn't popular HERE, and I'm not trying to bad mouth UWW by any means it's just nice to know there will be at least one new team in the Stagg)

Given what happened last year when Cutler went down I'm not surprised they don't want to risk having a rookie QB placed in a position to get the team to the playoffs. As much as I want to see Matt get his shot, I think of the abuse Caleb Haney received when he struggled and the Bears fell out of contention.

So what's the scoop on St Scholastica?  I assume since they aren't named St Football Dominatum or St Sportstica or St PoundtheRockica they aren't necessarily a national power?

We need a UWO scouting report.
IF UWO wins this weekend- a road trip to Oshkosh might be in order.

Oshkosh will absolutely drill St Scholastica.
