only 13 sacks.  gave up 19.7 points per game and 358 yds/game....of course the the offense on that team scored 50 pts/game....

The D1 quarterback Gagliardi Trophy winner certainly helped....which I don't think the 2012 team has

Mickey's 2012 season is right on par with Tyler Mathew's 2003 All-American season.  Linfield dropped a 7 point game to the eventual champ (SJU) in Collegeville in the quaterfinals.  Linfield losing Josh Hill early in the season was a big hit but Mick has stepped up his game and carried the offense.  He's performed remarkably well but we do need to be much more efficient running the ball.  Not saying Linfield has to be 50/50 but we have to keep defenses honest.

Now Purple Suit......there you go again!   ;)

I for one am really happy that the Mount folks are able to use their influence to "fix" the tournament bracket every year.  I mean really.....just because they have been either #1 or #2 for the last seven years is NO reason to think they would be a top seed in the tournament, and therefore get home games throughout earlier rounds.  Just because their only losses in the last 7 years have come at the hands of UWW in the Stagg Bowl, doesn't mean they shouldn't have to fly to CLU, or PLU, or whatever outpost anyone wants to send them.  I mean obviously the fix is in...........   ::) ;)
Now this is a post I can get behind!  You know just like two years ago when UWW had been undefeated for over two years, did not get a number one seed and had to travel to NCC and then to Wesley before winning the Stagg Bowl....those of us from UWW had that one fixed!   :o 8-) ??? 8-) ;D

No one said anything about a fix, so don't put that word in quotes. Given where The Mount is geographically, it makes sense that the East should go through them. No one is questioning that. People are just pointing out that no one north of Texas and east of Lake Michigan will challenge The Mount in the playoffs.

...and a karma nod to 413. Not only did you get the reference, you owned up to your own little slip. You are my hero for the day. ;D

02 already addressed it but what I will add is that none of us are rookies here, Skunks.   It isn't a question of getting home games, although that didn't work for us a few years ago, as WD has pointed out, it is about the quality of opponents.  We understand geography and the NCAA D-3 play-off system and the fact that many of us are just more, "geographically," challenged than Mt. Union. You get moved to a bracket that isn't even good enough to produce their own #1.  You guys have had a yellow brick road to the semi's since being moved to the East several years ago.  Enjoy it.  Anybody would, but denying it just sounds like you aren't paying attention and we all know that couldn't be further from the truth.    ;D :-*

You should be pissing on STU just as much as Mount.  Their bracket is every bit as weak as Mount's.

The folks that should be screaming is Linfield.  They're supposedly the #1 seed overall and yet they get the toughest region?  Each of the first 3 rounds they've got the toughest opponent of any one?  Their cupcake is the semi-finals.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

It always amazes me that certain folk get so defensive when talking about Mt's playoff pairings. The knee jerk reaction is that non Mt ites are accusing Mounties of fixing an easy path to the Stagg- when all we really want to do us have an open and honest conversation.

There is no question that Mt has had an easier Playoff road to the Stagg than most any team they've played at least since I've been paying attention. That's NOT Mt's fault and it doesn't make Mt the bad guys  it's a lot geography and a bit committee.
Mt is still a great team and has the hardware.

The truth is:
-It's probably a disadvantage to Mt that they usually don't get tested for 4 quarters before the semis.

-It's probably an advantage to Mt. because:
1.  The starters play less minutes and against lesser competition and therefore are less likely to be injured and less likely to be fatigued.
2.  Mt doesn't have the same chances of getting beat in the earlier rounds.

That's it as I see it.

Yeah--but we're used to it.  At least we aren't seeing the #2 ranked team in the country for our quarterfinal this time!  Oh and we didn't get flown across the country in round 2!  :)  We're happy to play at home against whoever gets shipped out west! :) :) :)

Every year, we seem to have the toughest bracket.    This is nothing new.

What I complain about is that Mount Union NEVER goes on the road in the playoffs.    Yes, their record is #1.   But, could they always beat the likes of MH-B, St. John's (in their day), UW-W, and even us Wildcats on their home turfs.

Also, do not discount St. Thomas.    If we are fortunate to beat UW-O this Saturday, the semi-final will be very tough.

He finished college and graduated.   :)

You guys are ****ing clowns.  :-*

Truth is east teams like SJF gave MUC a damn good game in 06 in Alliance and the only team that can complain of Mount's so called "easy" road is U Dub who has ACTUALLY defeated Mighty Mount. Mind you U Dub lost at home to a below avg Buff State team (even with UDubs tough year dlip wouldn't call them a below avg west team).

So many East fans have sooooo much respect for programs like MUC, U Dub Dub, Linfield, on and on. Yet when some ignorant bobos come on these boards and take pot shots at a region that is actuality damn good top to bottom but seems to miss those one or two tier 1 D3 teams you sound well...just stupid.

Stupid?  What's stupid is people afraid to tell the truth.  My point isn't a knock on all teams in the East or Mt especially.  My point is- let's not pretend, Mt has played many, many playoff games vs. very weak opponents in comparison to the challenger they eventually faced in the Stagg Bowl.  Whether those soft teams come from the East or the North Pole is irrelevant to me.  For the most part, Mt has not had to play a top team in the playoffs prior to the semis as most of their Stagg Bowl competitors have.
I don't understand why this subject is even a debate.
