Sweeney became the work hourse for Eau Claire, epescially as the season progressed. He was getting something like 25-20+ carries per game towards the end of their schedule.

If they would have stuck to that strategy earlier in the year, they would have won a few more games

You are so right, 02!!!  My stomach still churns at the thought of it.........why oh why.......

Introducing the St. Thomas Tommies

While doing my research for this I was surprised at the rate in which UST turns the ball over. On the other hand, UWO excels in creating turnovers as well as protecting the ball.

It'll be interesting to see if that plays a roll in Saturday's outcome.

Well - The current UST starters in the last 8 games have only turned over the ball 3 times and created 10 turn overs -
And - not sure about UWO stats as far as them being current starters - but, in the last 8 games - UWO has turned the ball over 10 times and created 19 TO's -
But yes, I agree - should be interesting to see how Saturday plays out!  Here's hoping to a good game Sat. afternoon!

That can't be right.

O'Connell has five ints alone in UST's last eight games (he didn't play against Augsburg so he only played in seven of those games).

Bielema leaving. I just heard from someone that Boise State's Peterson was being escorted through the building this morning for some reason.....THAT would be a good hire...

As far as Mount having a light schedule this year, it appears the UMHB may be the first team they play all year capable of putting up a fight as they get a beat down. Mount will still win easily, but not by a laughable 70 as the other jokers have given up. Dare to prove me wrong CRU...

Hope the Titans make it to the Stagg. They have that much potential.

I'm half surprised not one UWW linebacker made the All Region team. With the way this season has gone, it seems fitting.

However, UWO is well represented (as they should be).

You are correct - Double checked - He did start Hamline game and was hurt - threw 1 int - so updated stats - 10 TO gained - 6 TO lost? not too sure anymore -  :-[ the other 4 ints that game against Hamline was Ben Duncan his back-up -

So - the TO stats are not as good as I thought - O boy -...... hope it's a different story Saturday!

It's Ok. I get your point though: That UST has gotten better and matured since the first few weeks of the season.

Thanks for reading!

palum

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned this on this site but is Coach Leipold on Barry Alvarez's speed dial? :)

KitchenSink

That thought crossed my mind, palum, but I'm thinking Barry has his sights set higher (someone with a lot of D1 experience).
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

No way Leipold has the same winning DNA this guy does:

Just don't see how he could even compare.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

36 degrees on Saturday- Oshkosh football weather for sure.  Those Tommies will melt like Frosty in that kind of December weather.

Bill Johnson from ESPN Radio Milwaukee was on the air pumping up Leipold. He started the discussion with "Are we going to look back in 10 years and be disappointed we didn't hire Leipold when we had the chance."

Bill acknowledged that the chances of him being hired are zero, but says schools shouldn't be afraid to consider someone off the board. He pointed to a lot of Buckeye fans not liking when Ohio State hired Jim Tressel from Youngstown State. (I'd have to argue that a hire from an FCS school is easier for a big timer to sell than a hire from D-III.)

The fact is, it just won't happen. There's political and perception considerations that equal actual dollars when talking about alumni and sponsor support. A major conference program just wouldn't do it.

Well...they still have the chance, considering they haven't hired anybody yet. However, that person won't be Leipold. I don't think even Larry Kehres can make the jump from DIII to DI and have any sort of success.

Careful, 02, the UMU boys read this board, too ......   :-X
