Former UWEC coach gets job at Western Illinois

Bob Nielson

In case you're wondering, Todd Hoffner (who was arrested in September on child pornography charges) took over as head coach of UWEC after Nielson left to coach Minnesota-Duluth in 1999.

On a side note Hoffner has been cleared of all charges. It turns out those pictures on his phone where just his own children playing around...and nothing more.

Seems to me that there are other teams that might benefit from Mr Blanchard's presence. The Jets and the releasing Bears, just to name two.

As a FIB, I will say, "Never doubt that the Bears will screw up something good, especially if has something to do with grooming quarterbacks"!!!

TOTALLY!  I have said for years that the Bears either don't know how to recognize talent or how to develop it, I don't know which, but I still hope that has changed with the firing of DeAngelo.

Don't get me started on the Bears right now. Between the Bears sucking it up, and with no hockey, it's a good thing college basketball is underway...or else I don't know what I would do.

Also, leave it to the Bears to draft the only bust offensive lineman to come from the Badgers. Unreal  ::)

No hockey is a real killer this year....games now cancelled through mid January. Bears for some reason have not realized they have the worst OLine in pro football....if they played the Packers 5 times they would lose 5 times....it pains me greatly to say that.....

100% agree

KitchenSink

Well, then we should arrange those 5 games .......   ;D
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Raider 68 pretty much captures the spirit of sports, especially D III, with the above post.

Pride in the accomplishment of his team, good wishes to those who have been one of the thorns in his team's side lately, all with respect and without snarkiness. Merry Christmas to all.

I wasn't aware these videos were available, but they have broadcasts from some previous Stagg Bowls on Amazon.com:

Have not read posts on here in quite a while. I just read what people were saying towards the end of the play-off season. What I do not see being mentioned is the seeding which I think is the most important element. In our bracket I do think that Linfield was probably the best team. Maybe the best in the Nation. However to seed St T above UWO is in MHO a joke. It probably cost UWO the win. The Titans played tired! It is my opinion that a Mt. Union UWO match-up would have been far more competitive. I think the same could be said about Mary Hardin-Baylor. I think the idea of Neutral Sites in the Quarters and Semis should be visited. I know it would be more costly but it would decide things by how good the teams are vs. someones opinion on seeding. What do you all think? I think that any team that goes undefeated in the WIAC is a number 1 seed period!

HScoach

A consistent playoff performer from a good conference gets the #1 over a playoff newbie, regardless of the conference.   Hence UST over UWO.
If UWO can win the WIAC in '13, then they're odds for a #1 seed improve.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

A  lot to respond to with this post. I'll give my response to each opinion. I'm sure many would disagree, but here goes:

1.  I think Linfield deserved the #1 seed, but a good case could be made for UW-O as well.
2.  Personally, I think the seeding between UW-O and St. Thomas should have been close (In terms of strength of the teams, not the criteria. I don't have the criteria stats here).  However, I don't think it gives the Tommies enough credit to say home field "cost UWO the win".  St. Thomas outplayed them and, in that sense, justified their seeding.
3.  While I do believe the WIAC is the strongest conference in the nation, I think that making an undefeated WIAC champion an auto #1 seed is a little over the top. Each year is different. When UW-W was beating everyone not named Mount Union (and sometimes Mount Union, too) year after year, it seemed silly to consider anyone else a #1 over them  until someone beat them on the field.  Until that situation arises again, it  seems like an undefeated WIAC team should be strongly considered but not assured.
