I'm embarrassed to say that for the first time in 25 years I was forced to miss a UW-Whitewater Football postseason banquet last Sunday. I'm still a bit weak following several months of battling a tough opponent - cancer.

I want to appologize to the 2012 Warhawk football team and UWW fans for my rather sparse coverage on my Warhawkfootball.com
Website. As I reflect - it was a surrealistic time period for me as I forced myself to keep my primary focus on winning my own battle - a battle against cancer.

Some pretty big news came my way yesterday..........

I'm still trying to grasp yesterday's news that seven month's of chemo and radiation has destroyed the tumor that was found in my colon in early June. Thank you to the many who have given me the will and energy to wage this battle. Your thoughts and prayers have been so inspirational for me and my family!!

My plan is to getting back to posting stories on Warhawkfootball.com  later today.  It's time for me to "get back in the game!!"

Great to hear your success against the Big C. I have missed your input here but it is totally understandable you had bigger things to deal with. I will look forward to your input and insights again as you come back to full speed. Take care. Hope to see you again at the Perk. :)
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Congrats on winning the biggest battle of your life, Voice!  Such great news!!!   :-*   A word of caution to stay diligent with the monitoring. Had to push my cancer survivor to schedule his yearly tests just this week.  So easy to get too busy and less vigilant as each year passes.
Continued thoughts and prayers as you enjoy your return to good health!   :)

There is a nice article about Whitewater alum Trey Bell, and his "redemption" in today's Kenosha News. I've seen references to him periodically here. He was before my arrival to this area, and the familiarity with UWW, so I was unaware of his story.

I'd link if I was geekier, so maybe someone else can do so. Worth a look.

From the little bit I was able to garner from the teaser he's an assistant girl's basketball coach at Wilmot High School.  The head girl's basketball coach at Wilmot High School is also a former WARHAWKS running back named Keiya Square.  I'm pretty sure that the two were teammates.

North Central College may qualify as an honorary member of the WIAC in 2013. Their schedule includes games with LaCrosse, Stout, and Stevens Point.

Dubuque could qualify as well.  They have games @LaCrosse, Platteville, @Stevens Point
Do you think Zweifel will ever schedule a home & home with WW  ???

That's the gist of the article. It goes on to tell how as a young stud RB, he was selfish and reckless, got into trouble, and then found his way. He, because of this, has a unique insight into the psyche of young athletes. He has been cited by a number of his charges as a positive influence on them, taking an interest not only in their athletic performances, but in their growth as human beings.
