Way off topic, but if you haven't seen the pictures of Oregon's new "football performance center" you should check them out:

While it's a stunning facility, it sure makes me think about how out-of-whack priorities in college athletics can be. Thank god for D-III.
IMHO some D3's are heading right down that slippery slope.

Now that you mention it, that whole layout would look pretty good with purple overtones.   ;)

I heard  that UW-Whitewater has a couple of ex-marines on the team with some eligibility left? Pretty cool if they do.... don't take it the wrong way ;D I was just wondering if its true?

Sorry, that's classified information. Need to know basis. Security clearance stuff.
In fact we'd like to know how you came across this information. Wiki- leak?  Whistleblower?  Disgruntled transfer?  Come on, fess up. Spill the beans, sing like a canary.

Never mind Chicagotommy, don't sing like a canary.
But do tell us who you are talking about.  I honestly don't know.

That is awesome! At the end of the year you will be able to say you interviewed players from the Super Bowl champs! Give my best to Trestman & Jay..... I have been thinking of heading over for a day or two; not sure if it will happen though.

.... More likely the 4th place team in the division ....
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Anyone have an update on former UWP cornerback Ryan McWethy in camp with Cleveland? I couldn't find any updates.

Looks like Jasper Collins (UMU) was waived by Miami based on an undisclosed injury.

Eric Rogers of Cal Luteran has been turning heads at Dallas.

Can't find an update on Nick Driskill of UMU...looks like he wasn't signed after rookie camp.

I am pretty sure that he was waived/released within the first 3 days of rookie camp.

This is good news- I look forward to your report Voice. It's hard to find information as to how he is doing.
Hopefully he will receive significant playing time in this Friday's preseason game vs Carolina.  We should be able to see Cecil Shorts in the game as well.

My bad- Cecil is w Jacksonville- not Carolina.

So today was the day I was scheduled to be in Bourbonnais to do a story on Matt Blanchard. Practice was set for 3:15 pm. I leave Whitewater at 9 am for the 3 hour drive. I turn ESPN 1000 on at Rockford only to find out the Bears had moved practice up to 10:45 due to the forecast of rain this afternoon!! Oops!!! I'll be heading down to Bourbonnais again on Wednesday morning. The highlight of today's trip has been lunch - a Papa Burger at A&W.

02 Warhawk

I have no problem with the top 3. However, I'm surprised with LX and EC each getting a first place vote.

palum

I agree on the top 3 with 02 WH.  I see in the Team Nugget section that UWP's RB Lee Vlasak is a returning player he must have been granted an extra season due to injuries.  I thought QBs Nick Anderson and John Kelly were also applying for and extra season.  Either they were denied or decided against it.  With Corrigan back P-ville is set at QB but last year taught us you can never have enough quality players at QB.

badgerwarhawk

I expect LaCrosse to be improved though I don't see them challenging for the league championship.  I don't know what to think about Eau Claire though like '02 I'm surprised to see them get a first place vote.

I am not sure how UWL or UWEC got those votes but the top 3 are going to be fun to watch.

I don't know what it is, but I often get Carolina and Jacksonville (the teams, not the cities) confused. It must be something in the cheeses.

I'm glad to see that La Crosse seems to be improving in the eyes of conference observers. I'll be surprised if they make a run at the title, but 4th place would be a sign of progress. The schedule is daunting with North Central and a strong D II school on the non-conference slate, but I'm looking forward to the season.
