Speaking of scheduling....I would bet the Freshmen team at L&C has a better defense than Hardin-Simmons does.  ::)   ;)   ;D

From Buff State QB Casey Kacz: "I expect to score a lot more points, that's for sure," Kacz said. "I wouldn't ask our defense to try and hold them to six points again. I don't think that's going to happen. If it does, it's great, but we can't put that on our defense. As an offense, we've got to put up points and we feel we have the game plan to do it, the players to do it, the talent. We just need to execute."

This is not meant as some "bulletin board" fodder silliness.  I would expect Kacz to say they expect to score more points, and quite honestly, I'd be surprised if they didn't.  Not a knock on the UWW defense as I absolutely love what they bring.  Fact is, passing teams, especially with mobile QB's, have more success moving the ball against UWW.  There will be big play possibilities from Buff State and if they hit on one or two, that puts a lot of pressure on the UWW offense to perform.  Buff has a returning QB, RB's and a couple receivers that played in last year's game.  Similar to last year, UWW has two weeks off before the game, so I don't take a whole lot of comfort in the rest/prep time.

Somebody help me.

1) L&C hardly have enough guys for a scout team let alone a Freshman team.

2) HSU was bad but they're historically a good team that has beaten Linfield twice in Abilene.  I don't think Linfield knew they would be that bad when they re-scheduled them.

Come one 02...you know that's some weak scheduling.

You mean these returning players from last year's game:

QB: 18-33, 247 yards, 1 TD (thanks to a little trickery) and 2 INT
RB: 47 yards on 14 carries (3.4 yards/carry)

I'll need a stronger dosage of meds than that 02. His 247 yards look a whole lot better than the 188 we got last year And the 166 we got in week 1 this year.
And more concerning- he's got the confidence edge- and he's got a different #1 receiver- Doherty that appears to be quite good.

Most WIAC teams have a hard time scheduling games.. I highly doubt UWP singled out L&C just to kick someone's @$$. Maybe both teams had an Open that date and scheduled each other out of necessity...because all other options have been exhausted. The fact is we don't know how it went down, so there's no need to take jabs at UWP.

(Too funny....I'm defending a program I don't even follow all that much)

I see this as a game that will require UWW to be something more on offense than they've been in quite a while. I'm not saying UWW can't do it- I'm just saying I don't think business as usual will get it done.
This will be an excellent test for the UWW pass coverage- DB's and LB's and will hopefully prepare them well for the likes of PVille and UWO's offenses.

Maybe the same style of offense as UWP and UWO, but not nearly the same caliber. UWO and UWP were ranked 14th and 17th in DIII last year in total offense. Buff State finished 92nd.

Hell, Buff St was closer to UWW in total offense (126th) than they were to Osh and Platt.

I'm not trying to argue with you here...just trying to give you some confidence about Saturday that'll make you sleep easier these next few days.  :)

By the way UWP fans....this is how you know your team has become a threat. You'll get posts like these from fans from other boards. If UWP finished below .500 last year, I doubt outsiders would look twice at UWP's schedule.

Welcome to the party!  :P

Can't believe I'm going down the rabbit hole here but they didn't finish below .500 but rather in the top 25.  So yeah, they stick out when they're on the schedule of one of the historically worst teams in the NWC.

I'll 100% concede the point that I don't know the story on open dates/available options/etc so it didn't deserve me saying "shame on Platteville".  It come from more of shock seeing an historically bad team playing someone entirely out of their depth.

I do know that for the longest time P-ville only had 9 games on its schedule and only 4 home games so it was a last minute thing because I would much rather have a 5th home game than travel all the way to Portland Oregon, which I know can be a fun place for a fan to visit to but not have the long trip then get ready to play a game.  ;D

I bought a case of the New Glarus, Staghorn seasonal while at UWW for the first game.   A couple of those each night and I sleep like a baby.   Good therapy......you should try it!   8-)

As an aside, I can not find any options for video for this game, just audio.   Anyone have any different information?
