WIAC FOOTBALL TO BE TELEVISED "LIVE" ON FOX SPORTS

Madison, Wis.--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) announced today that an agreement has been reached with FOX Sports to broadcast three upcoming WIAC football games "live" on both FOX Sports Wisconsin and FOX Sports North.

The three games will feature two appearances each by UW-Platteville, UW-Stout and UW-Whitewater.  The match-ups, dates and airtimes are as follows:

•        UW-Stout @ UW-Whitewater on October 12 (2:30 p.m.)

•        UW-Stout @ UW-Platteville on October 26 (2:30 p.m.)

•        UW-Platteville @ UW-Whitewater on November 2 (1:00 p.m.)

The games will be carried across the state of Wisconsin on FOX Sports Wisconsin as well as across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa on the FOX Sports North PLUS channel.

Looks like they've got the Stout, Whitewater, Platteville round robin covered!

Bleed - I'm being told that only Stout, Platteville and Whitewater opted to be included in the Fox Sports Wisconsin Wisconsin/North WIAC TV coverage.

Why not the other schools?  I have not heard a definitive reason.

I obviously don't have the definitive reason, but I am willing to bet that others are concerned it will hurt their area/region recruiting opportunities.

To my knowledge, this has to be the first live televised (non Stagg Bowl) game for a WIAC team. Outside of school's city limits at least.

02...

I'm not sure if this counts but the '11 semifinal (St. Thomas vs UWW at the Perk) was telecast?? on ESPN 3

Yea, that's right. But I think ESPN 3 is just available over the web. But still it's ESPN!

Was also simulcast on over-the-air channel 45 in the Twin Cities.

The Chiefs did get rid of Andy Studebaker though.
And he was picked up by Indianapolis

Great to hear! The Colts would be a fun team to play for right now...and he'll have another DIII buddy in the linebacking corps

Quick question for those who follow UW-O. What's up with Myhra?  I would have expected more than a 3.7 ypc out of him. banged up? OL issues? It was a bit eye opening that UW-O averaged only 2.9 ypc against Stout when North Central gained 5.1 per carry against them and Dakota Wesleyan averaged 6.1 ypc against them.  Something going on up there?

Teams forcing Olla to beat them (which he is) by stacking the line for Myhra? Myhra had 32 carries Saturday, so I don't think he's banged up.

Good question Bleed...I haven't been able to watch a game so am stuck listening to live streaming audio. I'd venture a guess similar to 02 Warhawk.

Well, the good news for the Titans is that if that's what teams are doing, forcing Olla to beat them...he's doing it because they are undefeated!

Oshkosh certainly did not force feed Myhra like Stout thought they would.  It seems to me they could have pounded away with him more than they did.  However, as you mentioned, the plan of "Making Olla beat you" may not be a good plan either because he looked really good to me.  Managed the game well and made very good decisions from the pocket.

I am seeing most of what you all are seeing. So far teams have forced the Titans to beat them with the pass. They've done that so far so we'll see if there is a change in opposing strategy.

To view via satellite:  Direct TV  669  (Fox Sports Wisconsin)
Dish TV    436  (Fox Sports North)

The game will be televised LIVE on  Saturday and rebroadcast several times next week. (Check your TV listings).

Question, as I have cable I'm not familiar with satellite stations in IL.  Will IL residents that subscribe to Direct and Dish also be able to see Fox Sports WI and North?

A Platteville game was to be broadcast live way back, in '81 or '82.  I believe it was a regional ABC broadcast.  Not sure the broadcast ever actually went out on a feed.  There may have been "technical" difficulties.  My brother played in the game.  I can check with him on details if anyone is interested.

As I remember the game was Platteville at Stout. ABC had uplink problems getting the feed up to the satellite.

palum

I can recall (although I've killed many brain cells since then) that during one of the NFL player strikes that a Stevens Point game was moved to Sunday and was televised live on CBS.

retagent

emma. I can't answer your question in full, but when I had DirecTV, I had their "Sports Package" which includedmmost of the Comcast and Fox sports stations across the country. If someone has that, I'm sure they will get the game. If not, they still may have it as a regional sports staion in a regular package.

Yes, that was in the 80's when UWSP's "Aerial Circus" with Kirk Baumgartner was all the rage. It was on the local Wausau CBS affiliate, not national of course.
