I had the great pleasure of attending the UWW-UWEC game last night.  A beautiful setting and atmosphere with Friday Night Lights.
This is the first time I've seen UWW live since Wash U.
I am truly amazed at the difference in this team.  The coaching staff has performed a transfiguration of the offense (no religious offense intended).  The UWW offense is nothing, and I mean nothing, like it was.  Even when the offense fails to maintain a drive or score, there seems to be nothing but confidence that they will get it done the next series.  The pace of the game, the breadth of play calls, distribution of the football and play making ability is a complete joy to watch.
The Defense- unreal.  It wasn't until a botched UWEC punt that ended up in a first down for them that UWEC broke 100 yards- and that was against the second unit and mid 4th quarter.  The LB's get a lot of the praise and deservedly so- the DB's executed terrific coverage from start to finish in the game.  The UWEC QB simply had nobody to throw to without risking interception.  The D line was constantly applying pressure too.

A giant 2 Thumbs up from this fan to the entire UWW program.

A few random thought about the UWW-Eau Claire game last night.

Another great job by the the UW-W defense. The Blugold offense had no chance. 62 total yards with 7 and 1/2 minutes left in the game.  According to Coach Leipold, the  70 yards gained the back half of the fourth quarter was actually against the scout team (beyond the 2 deep).  He said Coach Borland had to remember to make defensive calls those kids actually knew.  Cool that the scout team can play half a quarter and preserve the shutout.  Sweeney lasted 12 carries and 1 and a half quarters and was done for the night. I don't know what happened, but hopefully he will be OK. As far as impacting the game, he wasn't going anywhere anyway.

Behrendt continues to play well. 30-38 and four more touchdowns. He just missed on a couple of longer throws.  He continues to throw the ball away at the right time. 18 TD's and 0 interceptions through 6 games isn't bad.

I thought both Ratliffe and Ross looked good running the ball.  That may be the two that will carry the load this year and I think they are more than capable.

UW-W needs to KNOCK OFF THE FUMBLES! Need to play clean games the rest of the way. (Although the disclaimer is that on McLin's fumble, the video clearly shows he had full ball security until after the entire lower half of his body was on the ground and only came loose when his elbow hit the ground at the same time the second defender hit him around the shoulder pads).  Still, I have no doubt that ball security will be a featured teaching component this week.

The offensive line continues to play well.  I don't know if it's confidence or scheme or what, but they are no longer playing like a young line. They are playing together. They definitely have their biggest test ahead next week, but there is no doubt any longer these kids can excel at this level.

UW-W has now averaged 534 yards of total offense in WIAC games this year with ZERO seniors and 4 juniors in the starting line-up. Although, Tyler Huber, a senior, did start one of the games and hopefully will be back in time for Oshkosh.

Congrats to UWL on a 21-3 victory over Stout.

Looks like the new starting QB threw a couple of TD's and Hertrampf went off. Defense must have played well too to keep Stout out of the end zone.

Platteville dodges a huge bullet...looks like point needs to be taken seriously.
02 your 100% right.  I hope P-ville was not looking down the road to WW on 11/2 or Osh on 11/16 but they got a wake up call yesterday.  I think it also sends a message to WW & Osh not to overlook SP.  SP made P-ville earn every yard they made and P-ville caught some breaks with a interception waved off by a roughing the passer penelty (on a drive that ended in a TD), SP missed chip shot FG right before half and the missed extra point on SP's final TD.  Most of the 2nd half was played in a driving rain storm and that hurt SP's attemps at putting a ground game to run out the clock once they had a lead.  Kelly had a good drive to start the game and a final drive to win the game in between SP was in his face most of the game.  Like 02 said Platteville dodged a bullet yesterday.

Needing to dodge a bullet against a team that required OT to beat Eau Claire the previous week definitely raises a red flag. If you are a Pioneer fan, maybe you should hope they WERE looking ahead.   ;)

Seems like the weather had a factor in this game. Tough for a pass-happy team to be productive in a rain storm.

I think one of the posters mentioned that it was more of a lighter, steady rain rather than a storm, at least in the 2nd half.  However,  you make a good point, balance is really important for teams playing in Wisconsin and teams with playoff aspirations.

I don't think it's too much an exaggeration to say this week is basically the same as a playoff week.
This is the third consecutive year that UWW and UWO have squared off for conference leader (understanding UWP is there now too).  The last two years have been dog fights and very exciting games. Poise has been the key the last two years.
It will be interesting to say the least.

If you check the conference's statistical categories the two teams are nearly side by side in every one of them.  I don't think you could get two teams any more statistically similar than these two.  It could be a game decided by one or two mistakes or big plays.

I hope we can get some UWO perspective on the boards this week.
It's easy for some of us UWW fans to be fired up about the team this year, but of course the schedule to date isn't loaded w winning teams. We can't know w certainty if UWW will be able to move the ball as they've been doing or defend to the degree they've been defending.

Looks like Pat attended the UWW/UWEC game. He talks about UWW in his and Keith's podcast that was posted this morning.

He had some encouraging things to say about UWW coming back from the 7-3 season a year ago.

Great to see a UWL victory this weekend.  Looks like the rushing attack found its' groove which relieved some pressure on our new QB.  From the stats it looks like a solid start for him, hopefully we can keep it going vs. UWSP this week.  Going to be a bit tougher, as it seems Point has a very solid team this year.

Interesting. I wonder what figures in to what this means? Record vs Strength of Schedule?
