If I had to predict, and I admit I have not seen either team play this year (hope to rectify that next week with UWW - UWP) from the paltry information I have (enough qualifiers I think) I would pick UWW by 9.

How many NCAA III conferences get two football games telecast state wide in one day? The WIAC can! UW-Whitewater at UW-Oshkosh today on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and UW-Stout at UW-Platteville on FSN Wisconsin/FSN North. Very Cool for the WIAC

While Coach Cerroni runs about the only team I pull for at UWO anymore, I see Whitewater winning today.  UWO's special teams struggles as far as covering kicks rears its ugly head again giving the Warhawks great field position and some short fields to work with.

Can't make it to the game but I have the TV on. GO UWW, back to victory! No injuries to both teams, lets do it!

Whitewater wins 17-14...  Whitewater's defense stout in second half as Oshkosh picked up just four first downs in the second half.

Game was closer than I thought it would be in all honesty!!!

Not that I think/expect this to happen, but lets say the WIAC ends in a three way tie between Oshkosh, Platteville and Whitewater, what are the chances of all three making the postseason?

Obviously one would make it as a Pool A, ad two would need to make it as a Pool C (out of the five possible)...  Any chance of it actually happening, or would it just be a pipe dream?

There have been some days where my posts have irritated one teams followers or another, but today wouldn't seem to be one of those.  Yet my karma gets dinged?  WOW!!!  ::)

+k to get it back. Nothing you said should have irritated anyone. It's entirely possible for what you said to happen (hope not, and I believe one of the other top 2 WIAC teams will have two loses by the end). There are a few WIAC haters around though.

The really sad thing today though is the box score says only 3,056 people at the UWW/UWO game today. UWO needs to get its students and supporters more, well, supportive.

This is being discussed on other boards as well. The problem is, look at the CCIW and the MIAC, just to name two other conferences in somewhat the same situation. There are just too many good teams to think that one confefence would get 3 teams in. There will be at least six teams who get in as Pool A teams, who would not fare well against the top 3 in any of those conferences. That's life.

In the event of a 3 way tie all 3 teams will be named as co champs (assuming WW UWO and UWP)...The automatic bid for the playoffs would however go to UWO, due to how the conference rules are laid out (unless I'm reading them wrong)...As far as the chances of all 3 teams getting into the playoffs however I think is slim, as said before I think there are just too many "good" teams to justify sending 3 teams from one conference... With that being said I think (in the event of a 3 way tie) UWP would be the team to make it in over UWW due to the fact that in order for a 3 way tie to happen UWP would have to beat UWW and I dont think the NCAA committee could justify sending WW over UWP because of the head to head matchup... These are just my thoughts though :)

Conference Tie Breaker Rule and Link Below:

VI. CONFERENCE CHAMPION/AWARDS

A. Conference Champion/NCAA Automatic Qualifier

In the sport of football, the conference champion and automatic qualifier into the NCAA playoffs shall be
decided on a percentage basis.  If two or more teams are tied for the conference championship, they shall
be considered co-champions and the following tie-breaker criteria shall be used to determine the
conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA playoffs.  A championship award (plaque or trophy) will
be awarded to the championship team(s).  Each member of the championship team will receive a
certificate.

1.   Head-to-head results between all tied teams.*

2. Tied teams are to be eliminated in reverse order of their last playoff appearance beginning with the
1991 season.

3. Random selection by the commissioner.

*If two (2) teams remain after a third or more teams are eliminated, the tie-breaker reverts back to
criteria #1.

Thats not to say however that I think UWP will beat WW, my prediction for the remainder of the season is that UWP losses a close game to UWW and the final game of the season between UWO and UWP determines who gets in last. This assumes that all 3 teams WW, UWO, and UWP don't lose of course :)

Great game in Oshkosh today. You could tell Oshkosh really came to play, as they should have. Their defensive line is as good as advertised. Whitewater had little running lanes, and Behrendt was harassed all game. Speaking of D-lines, I thought Whitewater's line had one of its better performances of the season. They did a great job getting in the backfield (3 sacks). Behrendt really struggled at times, he seemed to have a tough go getting the ball to his receivers. It was a windy game...so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Kumerow is really hitting his stride at WR, 9 more catches for 135 yards. I noticed Huber dressed and took the field for the coin toss, but I don't think he played a snap today. If the Hawks can get both those guys on the field together, they would be a nightmare for DBs.

What can I say about their defense...they are the best. After giving up some big plays in the first half, they made their typical halftime adjustments and shut the door UWO's offense. I counted only one offensive series where UWO had a drive last more than 5 plays in the second half! Just outstanding!! It seemed to me UWO got very conservative with their play calling in the second half. They seemed content with their 4-point lead and quit trying to stretch the field to add to their lead. UWO just banked on their defense holding Whitewater on their end of the field. It worked in the 3rd quarter, then Ratliffe finally broke a long one setting up a TD in the 4th.

This game had the same feel as the UWW/UWO game two years ago in Oshkosh. In both contests UWO held a halftime lead only to get shut down in the 2nd half. Two years ago, in a close game in the 4th, Coppage broke a long run that setup the game-winning score. Fast forward two years, Ratliffe broke a long one that setup his one game-winning score.

Needless to say the game next week is a big one. A pool A bid will be on the line.

I'm thinking the same thing (with UWO beating UWP). Looking at their scores, UWP can't stop anyone. 35 points to Stout! They give up WAY too many points, and their offense haven't really faced a good defense all season. They did play Point, and UWSP at times can bring it on defense, but they just about upset UWP.

Don't get me wrong, UWW defense will have its hands full next week. That passing offense is the real deal. Hopefully UWW can slow it up enough, so their own offense can keep up  ;)

And no, there's no way three WIAC teams get into the playoffs....no matter the scenario.

awfootball7

I can tell you one thing though, if 2 WIAC teams get into the playoffs I can almost guarantee that they will be in the same region. Setting up what would be one hell of a quarterfinal/sweet 16 playoff game...
