With a win against the visiting Blugolds on Saturday, UWL can post a winning WIAC season for the first time since 2006. This would be a sign of progress for coach Dettwiler's program, which posted 2 and 3 conference wins respectively over it's first 2 seasons. Injuries have been a problem on the offensive side of the ball this season, but the offense has never jelled under the current regime. The defense, which was surprisingly bad earlier this year, is playing well and will need to stop EC's fine RB Joel Sweeney. I watched in slack-jawed horror last season at Carson Park while the gentleman carried numerous undersized defenders up and down the field. My crystal ball says La Crosse comes through with a tough 20-14 win.

Enough with all this "where will whitewater land" questioning. Another important question (I think) that is not being asked is what region does the winner of the UWO vs UWP game go to? And more importantly what seed do you expect them to get. Do they stay in the same region as UWW as a 2 or 3 seed? Or do they put them in the other region? And to add even more food for thought what do you think the best scenario is for both of our beloved WIAC teams (UWW and UWP/UWO) to make a strong and deep run into the playoffs?

I'll talk about those other WIAC teams, but I'm not going to stop talking UWW  ;)
I think I fall in with most others I've read in that UWO is the favorite to win Saturday.  If UWO wins, I'm of the feeling they can go three rounds deep as long as they don't get matched up with the #1 right away.  I was impressed with UWO overall as a team, and I think it's safe to say the complete teams go deeper in the playoffs (which doesn't bode well for UWP).

I don't spend enough time thinking about what teams belong in specific regions to give an educated guess.  I can tell you I hope the WIAC teams are separated.  Not out of fear of UWO beating UWW, but because IMO they are both strong enough to get at least three rounds deep if they don't have to play each other.

Thanks for your weekly take on the Eagles' games this year. You seem to have a good pulse for their team. I'm sure Sweeney will be pumped for his last game. It will be a good test for the Eagles' defense. Should be a close game.

How fired up can WW get for this game? How much pride/fight do the Falcons still have? These two questions may determine the winner. I'm goin way out on the limb for this one:RF wins.

+k for the lonely, leaf barren limb (as described by others). Way to go believing in your team.

In the most respectful way possible, I'd just like to point out that you're goofy;)

Let's see...

Playing for the outright WIAC championship.
Playing for a possible #1 seed and playoff home games.
Playing to continue to establish that WIWA is true.

Pretty sure UW-Wwill show up.  If the Falcons get the upset, they will have to earn it.  I know the weather will be windy and I hear some rain is in the forecast.  I have no idea what the margin of victory will be and I don't really care, but I am sticking with UW-W in this one.  ;)

Got a chance to watch a bit of practice yesterday. Pretty crisp and lively.

One thing that all of us know about fredfalcon, he is a bit goofy, but that doesn't mean that we don't still love him. :D  That falcon wing has been clipped so many times this year that if it does fly this Sat. then we  truly have a miracle worker in RF town.

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Aw,  e17, Bethel gets the number one seed and you're going to pick Oshkosh over LINFIELD.
Tsk, tsk.

I hear ya. I need to change the font. I have been too "busy/lazy/negligent/otherwise wasting my time" to do it. I won't post again until I get that changed!  ;)

If UW-O takes out your Cats again, or even if Bethel does for that matter, I don't want to hear any more of your "People east of the Rockies haven't got a clue how good Linfield is" jibberish!  ;D

bleedpurple...if we take ourselves out again like we did losing OT fumbles to St. Thomas and Oshkosh I will complain - but not here. If we lose like to Wesley or UWW I will compliment the victor.
BTW, the sentiment on the boards 9 years ago is we should not have beaten UMHB in the Stagg because we weren't that much better. That left a bad taste.

D.O.C. you did a better job thinking this through than I did.  Since I said UWO can go three rounds deep if the don't have to play a #1 seed, that infers I think they can beat every other team.  Let me restate this.  I think, if UWO gets shipped West, and Bethel and Linfield are also in the West, you're both dead meat!!
Kidding, I would take UWO over Bethel, but not Linfield.
It's going to take a UWW type defense to beat your boys.

Get Up! Its game day at the Perk. Plan to be there (2 pm kickoff) as the Warhawks look to finish a 10-0 regular season and roll into the Playoffs!
