Thought down here is that Joliet catholic v Montini game was the de facto championship game-don't see them losing. They are quite a good team and their run of championships is very impressive.

I just had an argument in regard to one of the hypothetical D3 semifinal games.

Hypothetically speaking... If UW-Whitewater and Mary Hardin-Baylor advance to the semifinal level where would that game be played?

MHB, most people believe they are the #2 overall seed.

That's how I read the bracket as well. If UMHB is the #2 overall seed, I'm not sure if it was their 118th ranked strength of schedule or their one win vs a regionally ranked opponent that swayed the committee.

You are of course ignoring the 'Whitewater rule' - that last year's playoff performance can be used to distinguish among undefeated teams. ;D

Yes, a rule to be invoked when the other criteria is "relatively equal". Which it is not.  But truthfully, the only reason I care is because I am lazy and cheap. The idea of UW-W being the first to beat UMHB in their Palace actually sounds inviting to me. Just a curious seeding, that's all. Don't matter. A football field is a football field.

And yes, Linfield, Pac Lu, H-S, MC, Wash U, and Franklin fans, I know you feel your team has something to say about all this. But that is not my point. Because when you talk about #1 seeds being compared, if one of them loses, it is moot anyway.

Hey, it just gives UMHB a chance to punt a ball backwards again and lose to UWW again! Yes I'm getting ahead of things, and being a smartass, no I'm not sorry.  ;)

You know I was looking at defensive stats and Wash U. had a great defensive year.   The only team that scored more points than UWW on them was Hendrix who had the 20th best passing offense in the country.  The game was a shootout, so it will be an interesting first round test for Wash U. going against Franklin.

The first words from Coach Leipold in the postgame press conference following season opening UWW 17 Wash U win at the Perk ... Man, that was a really good team

The first words out of Wash U coach Larry Kindbom's mouth after they beat Macalaster 7-0 on a goal line stand was Man, that was a really good team  ;) :) Sorry, just couldn't resist  :)

Not bad, D O.C.. Not bad at all. And glad you are paying attention.  ;)

WIWA leads to MIMA.  As in moot being what we've rendered Linfield each time we've played them. Looking forward to a third dance.  Don't fumble it away before you get here.  ;)

WIWA!

Wasn't it a kickoff that went backwards? I remember MHB thinking it was a live ball so they pounced on it. But the officials claimed that the ball didn't hit the field of play after ten yards, so the ball was given back to Whitewater.

Maybe and punt AND a kickoff went backwards that afternoon.

02... the following is from the game story in the Temple, TX newspaper:

The game's turning point came on the second-half kickoff. With the Crusaders kicking into a brisk wind, Alan Munoz's boot got caught by the stiff breeze and blew backward. The ball landed at the MHB 38-yard line before bouncing back to the 24, where it was downed.

After a lengthy discussion between the coaches and officials, Whitewater took possession at the spot where the ball was downed. Although MHB recovered the kickoff, possession went to Whitewater because the football did not pass the Crusaders' 40-yard line.
