You know D3football.com should have an annual fan convention.  It should be somewhere centrally located, easy to fly into so all of us can actually meet and spend some time talking  :o :o in person.   If they relocated the Stagg Bowl to a better location/climate maybe it could even coincide with the Stagg Bowl week.

That's essentially what the Stone Station tailgate party at the Stagg Bowl has become. It's hosted by the fans from Bridgewater State, but it's become a gathering point for D3Football.com fans.

Too bad Miller Park can't accommodate a football field without modifications.

Just Bill, our point has been not only is it LAME to have to play a West Coast opponent most time in the first round, but if the NCAA has a goal to save money, so do our families, so how could we justifying $$$$ to go to Stone Station and mix unless our team is playing?

Move east and join civilization is one option.

Moot is good.

Then we can institute  M I M A. Moot Is Moot Again. All jewelry and license plate holders can just be flipped.

Listen D.O.C.,
I have to be honest here, I really don't get this email.  I'm serious.  Sometimes humor like this can be just a bit over my head.  Someone please explain, slowly..

Emma I am guessing that if this was directed towards Bleed,  If you flip the W's over in WIWA (Whitewater Is Whitewater Again) you get MIMA.  But I could be wrong.

The A doesn't work, guys.

Just an attempt at MOM and WOW.

Anybody "get" Andy Kaufman?  I didn't but I sure laughed a lot.

I recognize that and have been there, but the weather was horrible and frankly getting to Salem from anywhere is ridiculous.   If you really want D3football fans to be there, it has to be somewhere that they would want to go even if their team did not make it.

Thanks Kubiak, it makes a bit more sense now.  Sorry D.O.C. for not seeing the flip.
Andy Kaufman?  the guy from Taxi was funny.  The movie with Jim Carrey- I got through about 1/4 of it and was done.

New Orleans, baby! DIII teams show up early and provide tutoring to Tulane team for free use of the stadium. Then they can mentor them long distance via social media the rest of the school year. NCAA puts money where mouth is.

That's how I read the bracket as well. If UMHB is the #2 overall seed, I'm not sure if it was their 118th ranked strength of schedule or their one win vs a regionally ranked opponent that swayed the committee.

I think they are looking at the stadium with $$$ in their eyes.  ::)

Please....this is DIII!

I'm surprised they aren't #1.  :P

Hey, it just gives UMHB a chance to punt a ball backwards again and lose to UWW again! Yes I'm getting ahead of things, and being a smartass, no I'm not sorry.  ;)

Wasn't it a kickoff that went backwards? I remember MHB thinking it was a live ball so they pounced on it. But the officials claimed that the ball didn't hit the field of play after ten yards, so the ball was given back to Whitewater.

Maybe and punt AND a kickoff went backwards that afternoon.

02... the following is from the game story in the Temple, TX newspaper:

The game's turning point came on the second-half kickoff. With the Crusaders kicking into a brisk wind, Alan Munoz's boot got caught by the stiff breeze and blew backward. The ball landed at the MHB 38-yard line before bouncing back to the 24, where it was downed.

After a lengthy discussion between the coaches and officials, Whitewater took possession at the spot where the ball was downed. Although MHB recovered the kickoff, possession went to Whitewater because the football did not pass the Crusaders' 40-yard line.

Why would the ball have had to hit the field of play after 10 yards.  If you do an onside kick, as soon as it breaks the 10 yard plane its up for grabs (barring a fair catch).  If it went 10 yards in the air and the wind blew it back 2 yards it seems to me it should have been up for grabs?

The UMHB faithful agrees with you, speedybigboy, but the refs ruled differently. Actually, as I recall, they ruled it did not go ten yards. How they determined that, who knows. Just one of those subjective calls.

It was the most bizarre play I have ever seen. It was very windy that day with gusts that would almost blow an elephant on its side. As soon as the ball was kicked, and it was kicked high, the ball went up and back like it was made of plastic.

I am not one of those who contend that play cost UMHB the game, but there is no doubt it shifted the momentum. Had the UMHB defense stopped UWW and held the Warhawks to a field goal, The CRU might have gotten a little mo back, instead on the first play following the blown kick - literally blown - Donovan hooked up with Benson for a 24 yard TD pass and UWW didn't look back. The Hawks dominated the second half.

I agree, it was a really bizarre play. I still contend that wind (over rain, snow, or cold) is the biggest "disrupter" of a football game, with the possible exception of an ice-covered field. When the wind took over like that,it was going to be a fluke break for somebody.  Had UMHB got an extra possession, that could have been as big a break for them as what it turned into for the Hawks. But I agree that it would really be a stretch to say that cost UMHB the game. When a team outscores the other 27-3 in a half a whole lot more went on than one wind-blown kick.
