The UMHB faithful agrees with you, speedybigboy, but the refs ruled differently. Actually, as I recall, they ruled it did not go ten yards. How they determined that, who knows. Just one of those subjective calls.

It was the most bizarre play I have ever seen. It was very windy that day with gusts that would almost blow an elephant on its side. As soon as the ball was kicked, and it was kicked high, the ball went up and back like it was made of plastic.

I am not one of those who contend that play cost UMHB the game, but there is no doubt it shifted the momentum. Had the UMHB defense stopped UWW and held the Warhawks to a field goal, The CRU might have gotten a little mo back, instead on the first play following the blown kick - literally blown - Donovan hooked up with Benson for a 24 yard TD pass and UWW didn't look back. The Hawks dominated the second half.

If I remember there was somebody on the ASC board that knew the rule well saying that on kickoffs it was different that it wasn't a plan such as the endzone but a line where even though the ball goes past it, it has to officially land past the line.

FYI...K-Sink is starting a playoff pickems in the WIAC Pickems thread.

With odd plays like this where it seems an official ruling makes sense for either side I like when the decision correlates with intent. Had umhb had the intent of a sort of trick kick I'd want them to get the call. In this case, they would have been rewarded for making a mistake.

I'm going Klotz (for POY). The best player and the leader on the most dominating unit in the conference.

Stand up and take a bow...

Unreal...UWW starts 3 LBs, but 4 make all WIAC (2 1st team, and 2 2nd team)

Very deserving too.

Whenever I watch Klotz play I think to myself, "how in the heck did this kid end up in DIII?"  I know he started out at a DII school and transfered to WHITEWATER.  But he has all the tools to be a DI scholarship player.

I'm not complaining though. ;D

I agree with you. He is a great player and leader.  He reminds me a little of a kid we had a few years ago. I think 413 likes 33 better, but 44 ain't bad either!  ;)

Congratulations to Cole and to all the All-Conference Selections and Coach Emendorfer.

Mike is an interesting choice for COY. Platteville was picked by the coaches to win the conference and ended up squeaking into second place with a last second field goal at the end of the last game. Seconds away from a third place finish. What's in front of us is all that matters so no biggie. But for the record, I think LL deserved it this year. IMO his best job of coaching since taking over the program at a time we needed his best job of coaching.

I agree, it's easy to give it to the coach of the conference winning team. But when a team was expected to come up short, and finished the regular season undefeated...that's a strong case for COY.

I suspect leading his team to it's first ever postseason appearance probably overshadowed the second place finish.  My hunch is that Lance probably voted for him.  Congrats to coach Emendorfer and good luck Pioneers.  Congrats to all the players named as well.

Now is the time that we should all line up behind the WIAC and pull for whatever teams are playing.  The exception being if they play each other.  Than it's a matter of sticking with the guys you call yours.

I third this.  LL not only did a great job in terms of the players, but think of the staff he pulled together in a relatively short period of time.  No disrespect to Coach Emendorfer, his team did well, especially offensively.  UWW ranks high in all categories, offense, defense and special teams- along with going 10-0, along with multiple underclassmen starting, along with injuries to key positions throughout the season.  I don't know that this was his finest (as I have to believe 2007 required a different set of skills that he brought to the table)- but it's certainly top 2 and nobody did it better in the WIAC this year.  Nobody.

Way to go everybody, now, back to the future. Is the baseball team ready to shovel snow off the bleachers when it does come?
