Cole Klotz is now the sixth Warhawk football player to be named a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy.  Cole is the sixth Warhawk to represent UW-Whitewater as a finalist joining Matt Blanchard (2011), Aaron Rusch (2010), Jeff Schebler (2009), Justin Beaver (won in 2007, finalist in 2005) and Ryan Kleppe (2006). Beaver captured the Gag's Trophy in 2007.

Talk about tradition!

Just getting home after literally dropping into UWW football practice this afternoon. Walking down the sidewalk between the SAC and locker room I lost my balance and went head first onto the sidewalk. No biggie and huge props to the OL that picked my sorry a$$ up and to grad assistant coach WarhawkDad Jr. for helping me over to the sideline to watch practice. Other than having a big bump on the side of my head... or maybe the big bump IS my head I'm fine.

As far as practice goes... it was the most spirited 90 minutes of practice that I've witnessed since training camp.  I'll guarantee that UWW won't enter Saturday's game sleep walking like in the first half of the opener vs. SNC.

Thanks again to the OL and Chad for the assistance - it was greatly appreciated.
Go Hawks!!

The same place I tumbled December 2009. My excuse was ice. I was lucky. Hope you have ice on your head right now.

I am glad he was there to help.  I know he and the entire team appreciate what you do to promote Warhawk football and UWW sports in general.  Happy Thanksgiving

Some Warhawk fans have used social media to question if UWW quarterback Matt Behrendt makes enough "big plays." Lets take a look.

Matt's stat line entering Saturday's playoff game vs. Franklin College reads: 215 of 336 for 2,355 yards – just one interception and 29 touchdowns.

To put Behrendt's season statistics in clearer context, all you need to do is take a gander at the Warhawk football record book (single season category)....

His 215 completions ranks 5th all-time.

His 64% completion percentage ranks 5th all-time.

Matt's 29 touchdowns is 3rd all-time behind only Justin Jacobs in 2005 and 2006
.
Behrendt's 1 interception is tied with Matt Blanchard for first place in the UWW single season record book.

I published a story tonight (linked below) on my Voices Eye On Football Blog on Behrendt's solid season

I don't partake in social media so I don't know exactly what some fans are questioning.  The numbers you listed above surely show Matt has had a heck of a season and some of his stats rank high in the books.
However, I don't know that the stats you show demonstrate "big plays" necessarily and it probably depends on how the social media users define it.  I don't think of Matt's season to date as one full of "big plays".  I think he has done an excellent job managing the game and protecting the ball, which has allowed UWW to be in position to win every game.

Data was shared a few pages back showing Matt's average yards per completion- it's not a "big play" type of number, but very respectable indeed.
