Interesting prediction from the D3 guys in the Triple Take that just posted :o

In looking back on UWW's seven straight quarterfinal wins, the team that prevailed on special teams and won the turnover battle has been the team that won. I'm just sayin'.....
also the team that scored the most points won, right? ;)  just sayin'....
Go Cats!

Most of the time Wise A$$ fans have there team come up short in this rivalry (ie: 2005 game at Linfield) Keep up the lip service MC I'm enjoying it :)

For what it's worth, I have been a Wise A$$ as well. But I'm just doing it out of good fun.

Just about everyone on this board knows which team I believe will win tomorrow. However, I hope I'm dead wrong.  :-X

Win or lose tomorrow UWW has FAR exceeded everyone's expectations this season. Very proud of this team for what they've been able to accomplish (so far) after last season.

Listening to their weekly podcasts leading up to this game, I thought they would go this way.

I am not surprised to see their picks either. We have to remember that Linfield is the #2 team in the nation in their poll. We also need to remember that each of these guys picked Linfield to advance through the region at the beginning of the playoffs. I know the guys aren't bound by either of those, but their previous pick of Linfield showed us their perception coming into the playoffs. It's easy to interpret results of a football game in different ways.  These picks simply mean that the previous playoff results didn't alter their perceptions enough to throw them off course. It's like you, 02. You have liked Linfield's chances all year. While you are a little less confident in them than you were earlier (partly due to injuries and partly due to UW-W being better than you thought they were), it all hasn't been quite enough to throw you off the course you were already on.

My perceptions were different than the expert coming into the playoffs were different coming into the playoffs and they are different now. I know more about UW-W than I know about the Cats. What I know is that this defense ranks with the best UW-W has ever had. Their offense takes care of the ball and has receivers who can make plays on anyone. Their special teams are lights out. Their turnover margin is ridiculous. Mentally, they will seize the cold as a home field advantage.

I like the UW-W formula. I know they will be well coached and prepared. Their athletes will make plays tomorrow. I know fans hate to hear "you haven't seen a team like us" so I won't say it. What I will say is that I have seen enough of UW-W past and present to know that it will take a very special team to beat them. Special as in "doesn't come along every year" special. Is that what the Cats have? I don't know. We will find out tomorrow.

In looking at the Linfield roster, I see quite a few players who are from SoCal, or Hawaii. It seems to me that the frigid conditions could affect those individuals more - especially mentally - than those who have some experience with playing in that type of weather. It will affect all players, but having experience with it could be a big advantage. Those players who see spotty time, punters, kickers, other special teams players, and reserves who come in due to injury, or other reasons, will have it more difficult, IMHO.

Interesting note is that our place kicker, Josh Repp, is the lone player on this year's Linfield roster that played in the 2009 game.  Tyler Steele would have been the 2nd but we all know unfortunately that wasn't meant to be.

The staff and players all know just how good this UWW team is.  There is a massive amount of respect and praise when talking to them regarding the Warhawks.  The 'Cats will give it their all tomorrow and see where the chips land.  Looking forward to it.  Go 'Cats!

Warhawks by 6.  Take aways will be the difference.  Grayvold will get another interception and the front four will cause a fumble for turnover

Not quite Wisconsin cold, but the left coast has been cold all week and it was snowing in the McMinnville / Portland area this morning. The boys had practice in the cold.

I can't believe how much tamer the chat has been heading into Saturday's game at the Perk. 2005 was a different story. Just finished spending the morning reading the posts prior to "The Game"... WOW!!!

The WIAC board lit up a full week of the '05 game...

For Linfield the headlining instigators were Gig Harbor Cat, desertcat1, and yes, even wildcat11 with footballfan413 leading the charge for Warhawk posters.

When the taunts concluded the morning of the '05 game 413 had one final post: Hey,  don't get on Gig Harbor Cat for working and playing well with others!! I think I have won him over with all my charm!!  We are planning to be drinking buddies at the tailgate party on Sat!!

This is turning into one heck of a playoff rivalry! Make sure to wear your long johns to tomorrow morning's tailgate at the Perk!!

I've matured in my older age.   ;)

As have I. Reading some of those 2005 posts made me laugh.  :)

Been in meetings all day and missed the banter- good stuff.
2 things
1.  The thought never occurred to me that some would see UWW as the Empire to beat. Seriously, we are the good guys.
2.   No matter what happens, I Love You Man!

1.  The "Empire" was the "Republic" until the Sith Lord took control (sorry--nerdy Star Wars reference)---so, are you the good guys?  Good is a matter of perspective ;)
2.  Right back at you!  Unless UWW wins.
