I concur about flying into Austin. I35 is in heavy construction from Waco to Temple and is plagued by accidents. If one person slows up or has to stop  for anything it binds up everything. Austin to Belton has a little construction near Belton but it's easy to navigate.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I want to take a brief respite from Texas trip talk to congratulate Jake Kumerow on tying a UWW season record yesterday. With Jake's 3 TD receptions in the Hawks win over Linfield, Jake has tied Derek Stanley's single season receiving TD record of 17 set in 2006.

Warhawk fans,

Yesterday's loss to you was tough.   You were clearly the better team for about 2½ quarters and that was enough.   Congratulations; you are definitely back from last year's off year.

After about 15 years, it is pretty obvious that the NWC does not match up with either the WIAC or the MIAC.   Close, yes, but not quite there.

Home field playoffs: The NCAA is not fair on these.   There is always subjective opinions and biases involved.   We thought we should have had the home game yesterday and I am sure you feel you should have the home game against MHB.    And Mount Union should play a playoff game on the road.

The only way to remove the subjectivity and biases is to just have the NCAA flip a coin for the home field for the quarter-final and semi-final games.

One gripe: WWW's internet telecast was awful.   It was consistently 1-2 plays behind.   And out of 6 TDs and 1 FG, I actually only saw one!    My son could not even get on; I told him he didn't miss much because I saw very few plays and all late.   Case Western's internet telecast was by far the best I have ever seen in D-III football.

Anyway, good luck WWW.    You could win it all.

Yes, a big congratulations to him!

Kumerow is a beast. Really no other way to describe it. 6'5", physical, knows how to position his body, great hands, and an amazing knack to come down with the jump ball. Best of all, he's only a junior!  :) My guess is that he will be somewhere on the All-America team.

With Tyler Huber on the other side finally healthy, it is a dynamic duo that will be really hard to shut down. Huber is a athletic freak. 6'2", verticle leap of 38 inches, did 29 reps on the bench (225). Tyler was a pre-season All-American in 2012, but it ended up being a medical redshirt year.

With both of them healthy, the Hawks passing game will be hard to handle.

Regarding the WIAC being a cut above the NWC, I think it's closer than you think. The past three playoff matchups the NWC team was winning for at least two quarters in each game: 2010 (UWW/LC), 2012 (LC/UWO), and of course yesterday. Not sure if Linfiled just fell apart or if the "better athletes" just won out or what? You can make an argument that injuries played a small role in yesterday's game. But it's impossible to tell if the outcome would have been different.

As far as the streaming of the game. I know myself and MasterJedi had good feeds. We both live in Wisconsin, so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it. Or if just the people who signed on early got the good feeds, while the late comers couldn't be supported? I don't know. I would have to say, usually the UWW stream is pretty good...just not yesterday I suppose. I think I read one LC fan post "if UWW can afford to give away tickets to students, why can't they afford a better bandwidth." I wasn't sure how to make sense of that ???

Also, I'm actually OK with UWW playing down in Belton. I think they deserve to host the game.

badgerwarhawk

UW-W doesn't give away tickets to students.  Those tickets are purchased by DLK Enterprises who then disburses them to students.

All that was needed was comparing the bracket to last year's.   MHB is in the same spot as Mount was in 2012 when they hosted the semi.

That also relies on trusting the NCAA, though, to be consistent from year to year. New committee chair, new NCAA staff person in charge of this championship -- remember they wanted to give the NESCAC an automatic bid?
I sure hope they will be consistent about the noise makers!  The Cru students sitting in the stands, in 06, banging drums created the worst, loudest environment that I have ever experienced!  Hate to sound like a whiner but if we can't shoot off a cannon, after a TD, when play is stopped, they, damn sure, can't beat drums when our QB is under center!   >:(

That being said, the new stadium looks awesome!   Great memories from our trip there!  Warhawks and their traveling fans will have a great time!  :)

Since I was a student at the time I am honored to hear we were that loud, you can relax though as the barrels are long gone. I will be very interested to see what attendance is like for the game, the playoffs have been our lowest attendance games of the season. The weather (us Texans don't like the cold) and Thanksgiving weekend have not helped but the weather looks good for this weekend so hopefully we can pack the CRUthedral.

That's now my prediction also, though my bracket said UMU over UMHB in the Stagg.  So refreshing to have a final four where a legitimate case can be made for ANY of them winning it all!  (And a final 8 where only SJF would perhaps be a stretch for winning the whole shebang, IF Bethel's qb had stayed healthy!  Without him, Bethel would be a serious stretch, but Wesley and Linfield certainly looked like serious contenders.)

Interesting that you pick UMHB. So all this Stagg talk about the Cats all year was that far off base? Not only did they get eliminated, but in your view, they got eliminated by a team that is not good enough to get to the Stagg. I guess we differ on that. I give a slight edge to Linfield as compared to the CRU. Maybe you are right and I am rating the Cats too highly.

Ya, that might be your spin on it....but now that Linfield is no longer in contention, I'd just rather see two teams in the Stagg that haven't been there in a while for some variety.....and BTW.....I didn't "pick" UMHB I "picked" Linfield.

...can you also tell us why nobody could watch the streaming video?..... :P

Pretty sure if we have minus wind chill temps in Texas the game wouldn't be played because a state of emergency would be declared haha. However with a high of 60 this weekend that shouldn't be a problem, I am expecting a fairly large crowd including some of your fans who need to thaw out a little.

footballfan413,

The UWW vs UMHB regular season game in 2006 (Oct. 28) played in Texas was one of the best 7-3 games I have ever witnessed. Great hard-hitting and intense defense played by both teams that day.

The early forecast for Saturday in Belton per Weather Underground is: "Sunny skies. High around 55F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph." If the wind forecast holds true it will play a factor in the game, though it will not be as bad as the 2008 semifinal when UWW came to Texas. While the UMHB faithful would like to, I don't think any CRU fans can forget the minus-yards kickoff UMHB had to open the second half of that game. It was bizarre and ugly (at least from the UMHB perspective  ;D) at the same time.
