Regarding the discussion on linebackers. Several years ago I asked Nate Kmic (Mount's former running back who holds numerous all NCAA division rushing records) who the toughest players were that he had played against. His response was, "the UW-Whiterwater linebackers.
Since, at least recordwise he was the greatest running back in the history of college football, that's good enough for me.

That was nice of you to add MUC, +k

Wow...this got out of hand in a hurry (thanks Mount fans and retagent for that).

I was simply having a discussion with CruFrenzy about the level of tallent at the LB position at our respected schools. But that somehow turned into UWW fans thinking we are the "best ever" because we started having success in 2005.  ???

We all know Mount can trump every D3 football discussion when comparing teams, stats, history, etc.
Radtke and Wenger weren't slouches.

But they didn't show quite the level of dominance as Radtke and Wenger.  I think all of these young men have the tools, but Radtke and Wenger had the privilege of being coached by Bill Weinke, who, I believe, is one of the finest LB coaches in America.

I'm just waiting for Linfield to weigh in about their LBs now

DOC? Wildcat11?....everyone else seems to be doing it here.

Yeah, well, we've had the best equipment managers ..... nyah, nyah.    8-)
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I never got to see Radtke play, but many of us say ol Mr. Wenger and he was as good, if not better, than advertised.

Let's face it, LB is one of the coolest positions in football.  It's a position that attracts the best combination of athlete and supreme toughness.  If a team is going to be successful, it better have excellent LB play.

I love all the UWW LB's that have played over the years, including Mr. Tom Spaltholtz (Pizza Hut or not, he is near and dear to my heart).
UWW has been fortunate to have great LB's in a variety of molds, from the "pound for pound" guys like Olson, Supianowski and Cortez to the freakishly athletic big guys like Raebel and Klotz to the all around guys like Widuch, Rindahl and Arnold.

Here's to all the great LB's of all the great D3 teams.

I had the honor and privilege of playing with him starting in 4th grade through high school and college.  You'll never meet a more quiet, humble, ASS KICKER at that position.  Not the biggest/fastest/strongest but his nose for the ball is better than anyone I've seen at our level.  And it's not too late to catch him.  He still plays for the Chicago Slaughter.

Talking about these great Linebackers. I played for UMHB. I played against, well watched because I also played defense,  A.J. Raebel. Dude could play. I remember hearing about him having cancer. Does anyone know how is doing? Talk about earning your respect. He was a monster and a half.

Had the pleasure of tailgating with A.J. and his family last week at the Perk before, during and after the Linfield game.  He is doing great!  He is coaching at Carroll University.

Wow, thank you, Bold98.  Those are some very kind words.  My son is now 3 and 1/2 to 4 years cancer free, (depends on which oncologist you talk to,) and doing very well. Thank you for asking.  He is married, teaches 8th grade math and coaches linebackers at Carroll University.  If you played defense, as well, then you were part of a very special UMHB unit that gave all of us, lucky enough to be at the games, several magnificent defensive battles to witness! The Cru has earned a ton of respect from the Warhawk family, as well, over the years.   I will pass along your respect and good wishes to A.J. I know he will really appreciate it.  We both do.   :-*
