From the score it looks like Eau Claire gave St Thomas a really good game. Are they better than expected?  Wish I had seen this game.

According to Kickoff 2014 St. Thomas is expected to be conference title chase again this year, so EC might be better than expected.  Other scores
P-ville 63 Buena Vista 3
St Johns 27 RF 8
Dakota Wesleyan 23 Stout 19

anyone getting the UWO video stream working?

Yes, unfortunately. Titans down to NAIA Robert Morris 21-3. Embarrassing so far.

Great line by UW-O student announcer: "It's what is seems like right now, Neil."

Congrats to the Warhawks last night on the expected (except by 02  ;) ) dominating win! I would have been in the stands if I wasn't helping the Brewers break that losing streak last night.

Old Gold

Eau Claire played an exciting game on Saturday.  Two mis-haps.  On the opening drive EC fumbled two yards from the goal line.  That hurt.  And in the 4th a CLEAR interception by the Blugolds was ruled incomplete.  I had a clear line of sight on the play as did many others.  Interestingly the slo mo video replay on the STU jumbotron was cut short as the screen showed the ball about to setlle into the open hands of the EC player.  Then BLACK on the screen!  Me thinks a conspiracy is afoot in the replay booth   ;). With 2:00 left in the game EC recovered its own onside kick.  Drove down but with 50 seconds left a pass to the far side of the field was intercepted by STU at their own two yard line.  Two Tommie knees later the game was over and STU won by five.  It stung but what an exciting and enetrtaining game...in a wonderful environment.

So what can we say about WWW based  on a win over the #60 team in the NAIA?

badgerwarhawk

You can say that we did exactly what we were expected to do and we did it with a lot of backups seeing significant playing time.  How that translates to rest of the season remains to be seen.

We can say Waldorf is one of the few schools that actually returns UWw's phone calls when scheduling in the off season.

Edit: plus I like your screen name...it's the name of Whitewater's school paper. ;)

We found out the UWW has impressive depth beyond the two deep, at least against an NAIA team. Hopefully next week we will learn more. Franklin got beat by Il Weslyan but it looked like it was a competitive game. If week one is a gauge it looks like Osh Kosh has some issues.

#60 according to whom? Waldorf has historically been held in very low regard by small college football people in Iowa. They were 1-10 last year, only win against Trinity Bible (yeah, that Trinity). I'd wager they are in the bottom 5% of NAIA football.

There are only 90-some teams in NAIA football, so your two rankings are not actually all that far apart.

Not much. But I did watch a replay of the Stagg Bowl Saturday. Ya know what? They are pretty good!  ;)

No argument from me on that ranking...they were pretty bad.
