So what can we say about WWW based  on a win over the #60 team in the NAIA?

#60 according to whom? Waldorf has historically been held in very low regard by small college football people in Iowa. They were 1-10 last year, only win against Trinity Bible (yeah, that Trinity). I'd wager they are in the bottom 5% of NAIA football.

There are only 90-some teams in NAIA football, so your two rankings are not actually all that far apart.

I actually was going to write bottom 2%, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Still, the difference between 85ish and 60 out of 90ish teams seems like a decent gap in perception.

The trick is simply judging NAIA schools. I think their Top 5-10 is somewhat comparable (I'd love to have seen some of those Carroll and USF teams play Mount and Whitewater a few years back), but I think their average school is not as good as the average D3. It's hard to judge because we have so few and such random data points.

I should point out, I'm not trying to knock Whitewater in any of this. Like a poster said, Waldorf is willing to pick up the phone and UWW needs to fill out a schedule. That, and they beat them how you'd like to see them beat them. Wish I could same the same for my Huskers against McNeese St  >:( :-X :P

I will say, I do find it ironic when schools/leagues with historic ties to the NAIA knock them. If NAIA is so clearly a rung lower, what do we make of the traditions of schools like UWL, PLU, Linfield and others? I think part of the issue is that the NAIA is not as strong as it once was. There's been a decent amount of bleeding (either over to DIII or 'up' to DII). But back in the 60's, 70's and 80's it was one tough division to win.

EDIT: One thing that isn't up for argument. Our website kicks their website's butt. Wow is that place a recipe for a brain aneurism!

Remember our friends from Buffalo St.?? Did anyone see/hear how they won their game on Saturday?

You can't make this stuff up

It's tough to tell from the video, but Cortland St had the ball up by three with a few seconds left on the clock on fourth down. Instead of punting it away they elected to have the punter run around in the back field to run out the clock. The only problem is, the punter slid too early and left with :01 left. As you can guess, that's plenty of time for Buffalo St. to kick a 49-yard FG to push it to overtime. Then after Cortland threw an INT in OT, Buffalo state got the ball and kicked a game-winning 35 yard FG.

Seems like DIII football is good for one wild finish a season (something that you've never seen before)....this one came in week one.

Unbelievable.

What's really unbelievable is that the PA guy apparently thought he was also the radio play by play guy.  We know the kick is up, we can see it.  He actually said "unbelievable!"

The 49 yard field goal was a program record.

The Cortland coach over thought that situation WAY TOO MUCH. It was a slap in the face to his special team players by not trusting them to make a tackle.

UW-W Alumni Weekend will be October 3-4, 2014.  Coach Berezowitz sent out an email with details.  If you missed it or are interested in participating, details are posted on:

www.warhawkfootball.com

The game on October 4th is against LaCrosse.  What more fitting opponent for alumni weekend?

Just for fun, the classic Youtube video Whitewater Football "The Comeback" is now posted on www.warhawkfootball.com directly beneath the email from Coach Berezowitz.

anyone getting the UWO video stream working?

Yes, unfortunately. Titans down to NAIA Robert Morris 21-3. Embarrassing so far.

Great line by UW-O student announcer: "It's what is seems like right now, Neil."

Not the start to the season UWO was looking for.

Offense only got 11 first downs and 209 yds of total offense. Defense gave up 23 first downs and 363 yds of offense. Special Teams gave up 204 return yards...yikes.

UWO starts a SO/SO/FR/SO/SR on the OLine. 5 SRs, 2 JRs, 4 SOs, 1 FR.
UWO starts many upperclassment on Defense though: 8 SRs, 3 SOs.

NAIA Marian University next week. Marian lost last week to Saint Xavier 65-38 last week. Hopefully UWO offense can score on a D that just gave up 65 points. Marian was 6-5 last season.

D1 FCS South Dakota State week after that. SDS lost 18-38 to Missouri week 1. They beat Cal Poly 44-18 week 2.

Given the surprising result of last week and the South Dakota State game up next, the Marian game seems like it would be a pretty important game for the Titans.  I'm pretty sure their entire defensive front 7 returns. They looked very strong against UW-W last year. I remember thinking after the game that with both UW-W's O-Line and UW-O's front seven being so young, there will be trench wars between the two for years to come!

I agree BP. As my son is a freshman at Mizzou, I watched their first game w interest. SD State will be a tremendous challenge for UWO. Especially as I'm sure they use a game like Mizzou to inspire the rest of their season.
UWO will certainly be battle tested for the WIAC.

I find it somewhat amazing that SD State plays both Mizzou and UWO in the same season. Probably not the first time a team has played and SEC school and a D3 school, but it probably doesn't happen too often.

Outstanding video of the Pre-game Bleed.   I especially like that you got 02 to admit he is fairly positive this year (normally a worry wart!  ;D ;D)   Also getting Emma's better half on video is always a good thing    8-) 8-)

Well done!   Hope to get to the Perk for the LaCrosse game.

At least it hasn't happened recently.  The SEC and other Big time schools have played SWAC and MEAC schools who are roughly equivalent to the D3 powers.

They had only 3 guys returning from last year's team on offense. First game of the season is always tough, when so little is returning to one side of the ball.

Defense, UWO should still be solid though...they returned 7. Plus had a Badger walk-on (Kevin MacCudden) join the team at LB this year, didn't they?
