I had a couple of take aways from the game at Franklin...one was the offense line is the real deal.  Another was that the Franklin announcer did not use the name pronoun citation guide provided by the Warhawks prior to the game, Kumerow is not pronounced Camaro. I also thought the defensive line performed well and the the secondary and linebackers really bounced back and did well after the first couple of Franklin drives. The goal line stand was impressive and so was the long pass on first down out of the end zone right after we got the ball back on the one foot line.  Overall a really impressive second half on both sides of the ball

I don't know if it was a typo, or whether it was meant as written, but I really like the phrase "Ouch Matched" in the above posting, especially in its context. :D

Consider it a good miss.

P-ville holds on for a 26-21 victory over Dubuque.  Dubuque only turned the ball once unlike last week when they turned it over 6 times against La Crosse so its hard to determine how good P-ville and La Crosse are based on their games with Dubuque.  P-villes O-line gets the MVP award they paved the way for Puccini to gain over 200 yards and Corrigan had all day to throw.  Dubuque did a good job of stopping P-villes flanker screen play and got good games from former Milton HS QB Zach Fry and their wideout Tyler Rutenbeck.  P-ville's big non-conference test comes next Saturday when they travel to North Central for a rematch of last years second round playoff game.

If my memory serves me Zach Fry was a RB at Milton High School not the QB.

Franklin came out with a very good game plan which worked to perfection on their first drive.  A series of short passes with just enough running mixed in to keep the defense honest.  Aided by a personal foul penalty on an unsuccessful third down pass they were able to put the ball in the end zone for the early lead.  Their second score had to be a coverage mistake by someone.  The receiver came off the line untouched, undefended and outran everyone to the end zone.  At that point it looked like we might be in for a shootout.  As their defense was having a many problems with our offense as we were with theirs.  The goal line stand was critical.  Unfortunately we were unable to add a score in the remaining time of the half.  The long pass to Kumerow (aka: Camaro) got us up the field but the play on 4th and 4 looked totally messed up and the sack gave Franklin a chance and they looked ready to take advantage of it.  Fortunately for us the holding penalty put them in a hole and time expired.  The second half was a completely different animal.  Our offense continued to move the ball on the ground and in the air.  Having gotten burned deep whoever was defending Kumerow was giving him so much space that passing to him wasn't that difficult.  The defense starting making plays and Franklin struggled to move the ball.  After a fairly long scoring drive to start the half Dischler's interception and McLin's punt return gave us short fields and relatively quick scores followed.  After the third quarter the outcome of the game was not in doubt.  Gravold's interception in the fourth quarter was also turned into a touchdown drive.

Nick Patterson's open field running was impressive.  He's elusive and strong enough to drag defenders or run out of a tackle.  Givens also ran well.  He's quick and could have scored on a 4th and 1 play he turned into a long run.n  He was running away from defenders when he tripped.  His touchdown run also showed his quickness when he was able to get to the edge and outrun defenders.  Dennis Moore is another nice running back.  He had some solid carries in backup duty.  Anyone of these three could be a feature back.  Add Ratliff to the mix and we'll have fresh legs in the running back position at any point in a game.  A lot of credit goes to the offensive line as well.  They played very well.

I didn't count how many dlinemen we rotated but you could tell the difference it made as the third quarter ran down and into the fourth quarter.  Their offensive line was huge but our fresher legs made a difference.

Took a look at the pickems for the WIAC...WOW!!! I don't think there's ever been a harder schedule for the WIAC in one week.

Three games against top 10 teams (Wartburg, NCC, MHB); D1 opponent (SDS); DII opponent (SDSMT)......then there's games against Coe and Wheaton.

anybody know if the TCNJ game will be streamed?  Their site doesnt provide video links for any games, best I could find is that the College radio station covers the games and is WTSR on the Tunein radio app.  Hopefully the game will be streamed since we cant make the drive.

My apologies to Warhawk football fans.  Being forced physically to close down MY Warhawkfootball.com Website six weeks ago due to poor health was extremely upsetting for me.  In the lurch back in July I forgot to due the annual paper work of renewing my Warhawkfootball.com domain.  I never did sell the Website. A huge thank you to Jay Perkins (Bleed Purple) for reviving the site.  Jay's passion for U-Dub-Dub football is undeniable and his site will continue to be a daily must-read for UWW and D3 Football fans around the nation. During my 15 year run as publisher of Warhawkfotball.com resulted in nearly two million hits to the site.  I want to sincerely thank all those who visited the site... and to all the coaches, players and UWW administration, thanks for allowing me to write Warhawk football stories on  a daily basis!!

Count me in as the NEW Warhawkfootball.com Website's No. 1 fan and I look forward to making Jay's Website my No. 1 "click" each day!!!

Thanks Jay and go Warhawks!!
