Let's take care of Eau Claire and Platteville first...then we get to have some pretty fun/interesting discussion around this!

Platteville will be a good game. UWEC....not so much.

I don't want to wait either.
IMO if UWO wins out they should be considered as a one loss team with an excellent shot at an At Large.

That final game should be a Jim Dandy.

A brief, :13 second interruption of the Oshkosh Admiration Society, to bring you what I just discovered while flipping through ESPN.com. Thought it was interesting. A kid from Fond du Lac St. Mary's Springs High School, in WI for those of you unfamiliar with FDL, kicked a long Field Goal in a Division 6 state playoff quarterfinal game against the Algoma Wolves. Barely cleared the cross bar, but it was from 61 yards out, off of a real grass field. St. Mary's eventually won 41-0 to move on to the semi-finals.  OK, now back to the OAS.

I saw that. So, is he going to UW-W or UW-Madison?

Probably Madison. We need him to be able to clear that kick midway up the uprights, not just go barely over the bar.  ;)  Seriously, though, before this year, UWW arguably had the had the best college kicker in the state for several years.  Watching both UWW and UW this year, I'm pretty convinced UWW has the best collegiate QB and WR in the state this year.

I totally agree with the QB. It amazes me how I hear from some other people about the LSU-Wisconsin game as if Wisconsin was blown away. I am pretty sure if UW had a decent quarterback they would have won that game easily and that was with injuries to UW best players and Defensive line. I think if both teams played today, UW would win. But hey, if you don't have that "SEC" patch on jersey, you definitely can't be better than Half the "SEC!".  Now back to DIII football. Take it away guys.

It is dated, but I like it.  ;) But seriously, that's the least of my worries!

Just how good is the 2014 UW-W defense? Here is season by season Stagg Bowl Era list of the number of times each UW-W team gave up double digit points in a WIAC game;

2005: 5
2006: 4
2007: 5
2008: 5
2009: 4
2010: 4
2011: 6
2012: 4
2013: 4
2014: ZERO

Even going into the less offensively prolific past I couldn't find such a thing in all the WIAC results.  Going back to 1966 a couple of La Crosse and a couple of UW-W teams each gave up double digits twice.

Impressive and while I do not want to sound like 02, I wonder whether the defense success is so much the caliber of the defense versus the caliber of the offenses played.    I really believe our defensive line is significantly superior to last year and that our secondary is at least as good as last year.    The line backing play has been an eye opener and they have done very well.

No problem  8-)

I'm waiting until the playoffs to start comparing these two defense. There has to be some drop off after you graduate 4 All-conference LB's. Right?

Outside UWP, none of the WIAC offenses scare me.

If that's true, then that's all I need to know.  ;)

I agree that it is too early to proclaim this defense better than last year.  But unless this is the worst offensive WIAC year in 48 years (which even goes back to a different era of offensive football) it is still pretty formidable. As I've mentioned to some of you, it seems like every year, the UW-W defense steps up big time in the playoffs.  With a win Saturday, this team will have the chance to write their own story.
