Which staff is in more danger?  UWEC-UWL-UWRF?

Not sure if any of them really are. You don't see coaching turnover on at the d3 level for underperforming quite like you do in D1.

If anything, the AD at UWRF has to encouraged from what they've seen this year.

D-III schools very rarely fire coaches just for losing games. If there are other problems, like kids leaving the program, poor recruiting, lots of academic issues, bad behavior off the field, etc. in addition to losing, then a coach might be on the hot seat.

When you're comparing a nine-team MIAC with an eight-team WIAC, you have to toss someone out of the middle of the MIAC to make it even. The MIAC doesn't get to toss out Carleton just because it would help their cause. :)

St. John's vs. Whitewater
Bethel vs. Platteville
Concordia-Moorhead vs. Oshkosh
St. Thomas vs. Stevens Point
Hamline vs. River Falls
Augsburg vs. La Crosse
St. Olaf vs. Stout
Carleton vs. Eau Claire

I've bolded the ones I think the MIAC would win.

I think that your conclusion that River Falls beats Hamline, and La Crosse beats Augsburg are questionable at best.

Pat Coleman

I'm sure you disagree. That's my take, though.

Four elderly, reasonably knowledgeable fans of UWRF/WIAC attended the Stout/RF game yesterday. One topic of discussion was the relative strength of WIAC/MIAC. The unanimous conclusion was that the MIAC has overtaken the WIAC in relative football quality. Except for WW, we concluded that SJU, Bethel, UST, Concordia and Gustavus would all compete better than 50/50 with the 5 teams below WW in the WIAC. Maybe this topic has already been hashed out, but if so, I missed it.

P.S.  this is an unprovable assumption, the best kind to stimulate opinions!

I think the MIAC is an excellent conference.  If we are taking the 5 teams below UWW vs the 5 teams below St. John's, then that leaves Bethel, UST, Concordia, Gustavus and some other MIAC team right?
In my opinion the WIAC's UWP and UWO are going to compete very well with any match up of the above 4 MIAC's.  Not saying they win, but certainly not saying they lose.
Not sure on the rest, especially as UWSP's #1 QB is out.

I don't do any other message boards, so I have to say it here: The Chicago Bears are absolutely pathetic.

Bear down, Chicago Bears, make every play clear the way to victory.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, put up a fight with a might so fearlessly.
We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T formation.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown.
You're the pride and joy of Illinois, Chicago Bears, Bear down.

Or not.
After further review, bleedpurple's call on the field stands correct... The Bears still s***.

Ditto (& I am a Bear Fan)! Rodgers is good, but the Bears D looks like a team that has never seen the forward pass before. Good thing I have a couple of taped shows to watch!

I had company over for the game.  They left before half time.  This Bears' team creates anti-fans.

Never even turned the game on to watch a single snap.

Can't wait to listen to Bear radio tomorrow.  It's going to be a gas.

On the other hand, the Lions had their third straight comeback victory! ;D

A TD with 29 seconds left gave them a 20-16 win.

A7 7-2, they are in great position since they have Atlanta and Chicago bookending New England.

Point's QB was really good I thought.....especially for a backup. As well as their WR, #2. Together they torched Gravyold on a few times. The game was a good test for the defense, they were really pushed today.

Great game for Moore today....over 100 yards on just 10 carries.  :o I wouldn't mind seeing him on the field more often. It was great to see the offense clicking again, as the WRs took a step forward today with Kumerow again.

1. As I said on the up-date board, I've never seen a QB able to throw the ball with as much success (luck?) (if you consider 27-47 successful) consistently off his back foot and falling backward as he throws, constantly having to pick the ball up off the turf because of low snaps and running for his life trying to avoid pressure. It helps having receivers (mostly #2) running good routes and able to catch the ball in traffic. He played well, but I don't think we took him to seriously - he's a back-up.

2.  I wouldn't consider them torching Grayvold as much as I think Grayvold took too many chances he shouldn't have taken, especially reacting to the many pump fakes #15 was doing. Plus a couple of times deep down the middle I think the safety was no where to be seen.  Point must have seen something in the tape because they were making a concerted effort to go deep early and often, more than I can remember anyone doing against us this year. It wasn't a total lost cause since Brady did have another INT to kill a scoring opportunity for the Pointers.

3.  Nice to see Howard actually catching the ball this week. Amazing how open he and the others were on those medium to long out patterns, the ones Jake is always open on when he's in there. Behrendt has been throwing into coverage more and more in the last couple games, including this one. The INT looked like it slipped from his hand and just fluttered over the head on the intended receiver who was pretty much uncovered on the play. Good thing for Point that the DB was playing 5 yards deeper or he never would have reached the pass. Finco showed a nice burst of speed after he caught the ball in the flat and took it to the house; he's developing nicely and should be another weapon heading into the playoffs. I'm sure Jake will be back for the playoffs, we need to let him sit out again next week since he won't be needed, maybe just put him in for a couple plays to get the rust off. Speaking of Finco - the true definition of a freshman - catch the TD pass then knocking the kick returner out of bounds on the ensuing kick off. Gotta love it!!  Junakin showed nice change of direction for a big man on his TD catch. Impressed with the rotation of him and Solano. Solano has come out of nowhere to be an effective option for Matt.

4.  Dennis Moore has been good all year, and getting better all the time. We are blessed with some really nice runners. Good problem to have - who would you take carries away from to give Moore more carries? Ratliffe is a punishing beast and Patterson is damn good too. though I sense he's not running as well as he was before his injury, plus I think he's wearing a brace on his left knee limiting some of this movement. But, they all need their carries and I think the current rotation is working well. No one else can do what we do in the running game. Givens seems to be the odd man out, though I like the change of pace he offers.

The opening 3 play sequence of the game was really cool.  Grayvold was the target of 3 plays to open the game and I give him credit for handling it.  First play from scrimmage is a fly route against Grayvold-incomplete.  Second play from scrimmage is a fly route against Grayvold-incomplete.  Third play from scrimmage looks like a fly route, again against Grayvold, only the receiver breaks the route off at the marker and gets the first down- to Grayvold's credit he's there to make the tackle.

For the game I agree that the safeties seemed to be the real target.

Regarding Howard, did you see him not catch the ball last week?  I know he had the one fly route that was wide open, which he completely lost in the sun.  I don't recall him dropping passes against UWP though.

On Behrendt's interception, is it possible the ball was tipped at the line of scrimmage-causing it to sail high?  It looked funny in the air.

It may have slipped....Matt has walking off the field looking at his right hand after the pick.
