Dang UWO was over looked

I just listened to the interview with the committee chair.  It's funny how many people on these boards bury themselves into the "statistical criteria"- to the point it seems to me they don't believe subjectivity will play a role.

UWO not getting in is silly, especially if it's somehow because UWP's 3rd loss played a part in their regional ranking.  Ridiculous beyond all common sense.  Two playoff caliber teams (unlike a TLU that lost by 50+ to a playoff team) go head to head in a 3 OT game, and somehow the loser is discredited in a ranking?

If that was the case, it makes the committee's selection process an absolute joke.

I thought Oshkosh was deserving a bid but a team's record against non-DIII teams is a secondary criteria and I assume four losses is just too many to overlook.  Oshkosh would drill more than one team that will be playing next weekend.  That's just way it goes I guess.

They are a coin flip against St. Thomas.

last year's MWC champion might have a different opinion on that.

Well their first year back in the Midwest conference got them a conference title for the first time since 1947. They beat Illinois College 30-27 in the title game (Midwest was two divisions this year). They set the school record for wins with nine to this point. IMO I think UWW should not have too much trouble against the Scots.

Their stadium doubles as a veggie co-op dorm.

Way to go out on the limb with that prediction bw?

In all seriousness, I could name at least 1/2 the field (if not more) that they would drill, if given the chance to play. I wouldn't be 100% confident that the Warhawks would beat the Titans if they played them tomorrow.

There was one way for Oshkosh to avoid the whole mess they were in ... win the conference title, they didn't so that's just the way it goes.

In case double dub forgets how to do a Cake Walk:
Instructions

        1

Place 8 teams in a circle as if you were playing musical chairs. The number of chairs can vary based on the size of the gathering and the expected amount of interest in the Cake Walk.
        2

Place a number on each chair, starting with 1 and going as high as necessary, depending on the number of chairs you have in the circle. Now take a number and place by each pastry. Have a nice display of the goodies on some tables so that everyone can see them.
         3

Start some "We Are the Champions" on the stereo. Instruct the participants to walk around the chairs until the music stops. Participants should sit in the nearest chair when the music stops. Stop the music after 30 seconds or 1 minute.
        4

Draw a number out of box or other container. The participant who sat in the chair with the corresponding number wins the prize for that round.

If UWW has any problems whatsoever with Mac, I would be amazed.  They beat the MIAC's Carleton 17-14 (Carleton was 1-7 in the MIAC) and lost to the MIAC's Hamline (Hamline was 2-6 in the MIAC).  Mac fled the MIAC about 10 years ago because they were not able to be competitive in football.  For some reason, the MIAC has continued to allow them to remain conference members in other sports, but to join the MWC for football.  So, there is Mac in a nutshell.

Let's start a drive to get Osh to play Bethel on a neutral field. Beer and cheese in abundance.

How about I just tell you here:

1. Beat them every time you play them. No exceptions. (Makes them want to win so much they get tight).
2. Win at least 30 consecutive non-Stagg Bowl playoff games before the game. (along with #1 creates a mystique that causes other coaches to out-think themselves).
3. Play physical football the entire game and slow their offense down like they haven't been slowed all year.
4. Find a way to get them to drop a pass in the end zone on the same series. Adds to their sense of uh-oh.
5.  Have such a consistent history of coming up big defensively in key situations that everyone on both sidelines know that UMHB wouldn't score on 4th down even if they did try.
6. Oh, this is pretty important too.  Be good enough to be ahead of them in that point of the game.

Hamline wasn't 2-6 in the MIAC, Duff.

According to the MIAC website, they were.  They beat St. Olaf and Augsburg and lost to GAC, SJU, Bethel, U$T, Concordia, and Carleton.
