WIAC All Conference list is out.  http://www.wiacsports.com/news/2014/11/20/FB_1120143702.aspx

Good showing by the Warhawks.

Kind of surprised that Howard made first team WR.
He is a junior and the all conference lists are typically junior and senior laden.   I also believe his name recognition from his accomplishments as both a returner and a receiver last year carried over.     This does not surprise me.     What did surprise me is Ratliffe getting second team and no other UWW running back receiving recognition even though Dennis Moore outgained him and Patterson was close.  This confirms my juniors/seniors receive recognition unless some other player had an absolutely stellar year.

I'm confused (all too often these days) Ratliff is a Junior.  So how does his selection confirm you seniors theory?

My bad, but I modified my post.  Ratliffe and Moore are Juniors, so my point about last year for Howard rolls forward with Ratliffe as well.   Ratliffe was the UWW featured back last year and has higher name recognition.

I knew somethin confirmed somethin in all that.  ;)

:D  Ok, so BadgerWarhawk caught me!    But regardless of that, the point is that name recognition has a tremendous amount to do with All Conference awards.    I am not saying in any way shape or form that those recognized do not deserve that recognition, but it is apparent to me that performance in prior years spills over into the current years if there is not someone who has had an absolutely stellar year.

The reality is that Moore gained more yards, both Ratliffe and Moore are Juniors and Ratliffe gets the recognition....why?   I contend it is because of his accomplishments last year during the playoffs and Stagg Bowl and his name recognition.

I have a theory on this debate that I think you all are thinking but are reluctant to post publically ... I have no such inhibitions ... can't do it now since I have other business to attend to ... but will when I return to my computer later Friday.  Just glad the WIAC head office heard my plea for the team!!

I'm looking forward to this Bobo.

Comment on Justin Howard.  I definitely think he deserves All Conference, in fact, I think he deserves to be considered in the All American voting.  Justin Howard is one of the toughest players I've seen in a Warhawk jersey and he can flat out play football.  IMO, if UWW goes the distance, we won't see a single team that Justin Howard wouldn't be a star player on.

In today's "Playoff picks, surprises, disappointments" that breaks down each of the four brackets, readers are voting on what team will emerge in each of the brackets. Interesting to see that UWW has the lowest percentage to emerge out of the four bracket favorites as voted in the reader's poll.

Thank River Falls for that

Mostly a reflection of who's reading and voting. The MIAC has some folks on these boards if you haven't noticed.

I know the WIAC All-Conference meeting was held early this week.

I know in the past the All- WIAC team was not released until the Milwaukee Journal publishes the all-conference team.

I don't know if that process is still in effect

A perfect 1980's approach to media that would not be unlike the WIAC to still do today (like no streaming of conference title games so it can be shown on tape delay three weeks later).

It's not in JSOnline content currently ... though they do have a paragraph on the game this weekend ... don't know what their print version has planned.

I've learned to never pick against WW or Mount. When they play each other I flip a coin.
