John Miech, anyone?

Another good candidate.  +K

Probably even more so than O'Grady.

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Isn't it possible Jago could find something intriguing about coming back to coach his alma mater and try to succeed in keeping the program at an elite level, recognizing full well it might be the death of any advancement dreams he has?

I guess I don't think that that is even possible.  I know people get the googly eyes when a HC position opens up and they start pointing to alums that live in a different stratosphere now and think "hey, maybe he'll come home."  It just doesn't work that way.  A couple of years ago when Wooster had an opening there was some scuttlebutt about an alum that is/was the OC at FAU coming home to resurrect the program.  They ended up with the OC from Lycoming.  The economics between D3 and FBS are so vastly different...people don't move from FBS coordinator to D3 HC on purpose.  It's just not realistic.

I mean, I guess there's no harm in hypothesizing and daydreaming on those kinds of possibilities (that's not even a fair word to use), but I think this topic of who's the next HC at Whitewater is more interesting if we pick out realistic replacements.  Glenn Caruso is an interesting name.  Mike Leonard is an interesting name.  Borland is interesting.  Jagodzinski is fantasy land.

When you have the opportunity to shoot for the moon, you shoot for the moon...stay away from the small potatoes. BTW, who died and made you the all knowing on every front? How do you know what a man that you don't know and probably never heard of is thinking?...the allure of returning to your roots is a very appealing proposition for many (obviously not for you or retagent - but I could have easily predicted that). And Oh, I did mention the problem of compensation. So, of course it was a pipe dream - do you think you have the cornerstone on extravagant statements? And plus, no one asked for your opinion to pick out realistic replacements, as clear as I can determine. In fact, by reading the past few pages I sense some here feel you've worn out your welcome.  I know LL speaks highly of Mike Leonard, but speaking highly of someone and having him taking over for you are completely different animals. Nobody wants a Caruso type and all the baggage that comes with that. Since when is realistic a part of a coaching search? If it was, LL wouldn't have been considered for the UB job if you ask their most ardent supporters and media in Buffalo. A D3 guy going to DI - are you kidding, what does he know about recruiting scholarship talent? You heard the questions asked at that press conference. I don't have time for anymore at the moment, but I do have a lot more to say when I'm ready.

"Never heard anything so stupid" as to think someone would take a HUGE cut in pay as well as move down a couple of notch's in College levels to take a job at UWW.  UWW is a great job for d3, but still it is d3.  No matter how much money he has made job progressions for college coachs do not usually go in this direction for a rising star kind of a guy.

The Wabash Coach WOULD be a great fit.  The question is, however, will one of the coordinators stay or do they stay with LL -- who is going to be an absolute star in D1.   For the coaches who do go with him, if they win quickly at UB it will be life-changing in terms of salary for the next job LL gets.

NO he wouldn't!!

Why are all these supposed Wabash supporters and alums shopping their coach around?  Must be a reason for that...Not 1 UWW fan was ever shopping Lance around for another D3 position.. just saying...

Is there a game this week?  I hear the visitors are the biggest and the fastest team in America and the entire solar system...or was that the universe?...is this Wabash all over again? I'm skaking in my boots...maybe that's just because my feet are cold. Damn it's cold here.

I watched Brady's pick 6 on top plays. Just amazing, he broke for the ball before the ball was even snapped. It was like he was in the wabash huddle and knew what was going to be ran.

I'm supposing that he did know, or at least he knew that there was a high probability, that Wabash was going to run that play.  It was amazing anticipation.  Wabash runs that play a lot out of a several formations.  With the lead, Brady could afford to take the chance, and he's a really good athlete.  Fine read, and great football smarts.

By the way, I don't think the "supposed Wabash fans" are shopping Raeburn around.  Everybody appreciates what he brings to the Wabash program.  I think it's more that there is the confidence that Raeburn could go to UWW, or anywhere, and either keep up, or build, excellence.
We will all be just fine that he stays at Wabash.  He does a superior job with the players he can recruit given Wabash's geography and all-male student body.

This never happened.  This is pure nonsense.  The first suggestion of Raeburn was made by Hazzben, and then some OAC guys picked up on it.

Guess you could say the same thing about the Franklin guys shopping their coach --- but it would be just as untrue.

I believe he said as much in the podcast.  Great anticipation on his part. Amazing play, and an amazing player.

Would add that it was also low risk / high reward.  Even if he had guessed wrong and taken himself out of the play, with the way the Whitewater D was playing, he certainly had to believe that the other guys would make the stop.

You know it's funny (funny after the fact anyway), but last week I had shared with some friends offline that in my nightmare Grayvold jumps that screen and walks in for a TD.  By the time it happened there in the fourth quarter I just kind of laughed about it.   :)

Like sigma one said, it's a play that Wabash has run a lot over the last few years.  It's a play that develops kind of slowly, we don't really fire that ball out to the receiver...that kind of disaster that manifested itself on Saturday was something that was probably available to a lot of corners a lot of times this season.  Really, Wabash needed that play to blow up sometime sooner in the season so that they could either scrap it or improve on its execution.  It's no surprise to me that Grayvold sniffed that thing out and took advantage of it.  He's a great player for sure.

You're right, I don't know.  Please find me the plethora of precedence set by guys with high D1 and NFL coaching experience coming back to D3 and I'll retract.
