Why are all these supposed Wabash supporters and alums shopping their coach around?  Must be a reason for that...Not 1 UWW fan was ever shopping Lance around for another D3 position.. just saying...

This never happened.  This is pure nonsense.  The first suggestion of Raeburn was made by Hazzben, and then some OAC guys picked up on it.

Guess you could say the same thing about the Franklin guys shopping their coach --- but it would be just as untrue.

Fair enough, but you have to admit, with all the trolling going into these boards, it's hard to remember who is leaning toward who most of the time, unless it ways the name of their school in their screen name.

How do you know what a man that you don't know and probably never heard of is thinking?...the allure of returning to your roots is a very appealing proposition for many (obviously not for you or retagent - but I could have easily predicted that).

You're right, I don't know.  Please find me the plethora of precedence set by guys with high D1 and NFL coaching experience coming back to D3 and I'll retract.

Frankly speaking, it's not my intention to make you retract anything.  The concept of returning to ones roots is embedded in the human spirit and occurs routinely in a variety of professions. As a man who's spent much of his adult life outside the US mainland, I have that urge to return all the time. Luckily, I have the economic means to do that if and when I finally decide to do that. Another successful guy like Jags, who as I pointed out in my original post, has probably made a nice living from coaching, might have the financial means to do the same. It's a pipe dream, but I think it would be cool for the guy to want to return home, and much stranger things have happened.   Maybe you should explain the plethora of reasons why you believe it couldn't happen in the the coaching profession too? Then you can still retract if you want...but life goes on with or without your retraction.

BoBo, I wish I could buy you for what you're worth, and sell you for what you thought you were worth. I'd be a rich man. No offense.

SaintsFan is a fan of the Saints at Thomas More, not Wabash. He just recognizes a good coach when he sees one.

Anybody have any thoughts about the Wartburg game?

I think it will be a good game. From what I can tell, Wartburg may match up on the line of scrimmage with UW-W better than any team the past couple of years outside of UMHB. They seem to have some pretty decent athletes, too. I'm guessing they may not be quite as fast defensively as UW-W. Seeing the Johnnies last week may have helped them prepare for the UW-W defense.  The intrigue this week will be the emotional factors. How well will Wartburg handle the big stage of playing against one of the "Big Purples"? How much will the events of of the past week affect  UW-W?  As a fan of UW-W, my very biased opinion is that this UW-W team is one of unusual character and experience. The seniors are excellent leaders. I am guessing they rally together big time. No idea how Wartburg will respond, but I don't see UW-W coming out flat.

I really don't know what your problem is retagent, but I bet it's hard for us public school grads to pronounce.  I know your reputation on here is that of a wit, but you're probably half right. I would probably find you more interesting had I studied psychology. Go figure...

Yep, this is the first game I'm truly nervous about. Given this stage in the playoffs, I guess that's normal as there's nothing but tough teams left.

Hopefully the Hawks can limit their stupid turnovers, like their were prone to against Wabash.

...and the offensive penalties on big plays or defensive personal fouls on 3rd and long prolonging opponents drives.

Just another bit of intrigue going into this game, bleed probably knows this since he has a good mind for past events maybe you too 02, but the Wartburg HC was one of the finalist in the coaching search that selected LL. Now, he has the opportunity to extract a bit of revenge for not being selected, and end LL's D3 coaching career with a L. It's gotta be running through his mind as WC preps this week. It certainly would be an ironic twist that we wouldn't want to see happen.

I'm just a troll -- yeesh.  I thought the D3Boards was a community where people are welcome to post in any board as they see fit.  Color me impressed with UW-WW's Football Program and the lively discussion on the WIAC Board.  I don't post much on the WIAC Page but its one of many that I pay attention to -- there's lots of opinoins and information I gleen from the boards.

Well UWW will have its hands full, we've been told Wartburg is the strongest and fastest D3 team in the country, idk how we can possibly hope to win against that!  ;D :-X

They have talked about the "Whitewater Family" in the past.  Will the new man have Whitewater ties?

How about that Raebel guy, 413?   8-)

Raebel is an interesting idea also. Probably needs more seasoning though as a coach. I know he's a Whitewater guy, but he's a really young Whitewater guy. Would be a great addition to the next staff and perhaps a head coach in training/waiting.

LMAO.  I know this was a joke, KS, but Wally was quick to jump on it and in a complimentary way, so I'll respond.  "That Raebel guy," is incredibly happy with his day job these days, teaching 8th grade math, and very blessed to have his dream, "hobby," job coaching college linebackers for Carroll University, literally, just down the road.  Officially, 5 years cancer free now with a new house and a baby on the way,  ;) ;D the only thing he would probably do, regarding UWW's new head coach, is throw his, substantial, "weight," behind his wonderful and talented defensive coordinator, Brian Borland, if he wants the job, that is.  I second that.  Brian has an extremely sharp defensive mind, the proper demeanor to handle all that the job entails, the players love him, he knows the program inside and out, has great family support and has, certainly, paid his dues!!!  He is a very humble man, despite his success, and I am sure that he would surround himself with talented assistants, (offensive side of the ball,) and allow them the autonomy to do their jobs and would create a highly successful work environment for his staff.  Our family loves and respects the man and his entire family.  He does, indeed, "bleed purple," and we all know, "DEFENSE wins championships!"     ;D
