I'm supposing that he did know, or at least he knew that there was a high probability, that Wabash was going to run that play.  It was amazing anticipation.  Wabash runs that play a lot out of a several formations.  With the lead, Brady could afford to take the chance, and he's a really good athlete.  Fine read, and great football smarts.

Interestingly the word around is that it was Nellis that noticed something and signaled to Grayvold that it was coming.

Maybe you should explain the plethora of reasons why you believe it couldn't happen in the the coaching profession too? Then you can still retract if you want...but life goes on with or without your retraction.

I only need one reason: people don't work for something like 30 cents (or less) on the dollar of their market value, roots or no roots.  Not voluntarily anyway.

They have talked about the "Whitewater Family" in the past.  Will the new man have Whitewater ties?

How about that Raebel guy, 413?   8-)

Raebel is an interesting idea also. Probably needs more seasoning though as a coach. I know he's a Whitewater guy, but he's a really young Whitewater guy. Would be a great addition to the next staff and perhaps a head coach in training/waiting.

LMAO.  I now this was a joke, KS, but Wally was quick to jump on it and in a complimentary way, so I'll respond.  "That Raebel guy," is incredibly happy with his day job these days, teaching 8th grade math, and very blessed to have his dream, "hobby," job coaching college linebackers for Carroll University, literally, just down the road.  Officially, 5 years cancer free now with a new house and a baby on the way,  ;) ;D the only thing he would probably do, regarding UWW's new head coach, is throw his, substantial, weight behind his wonderful and talented defensive coordinator, Brian Borland, if he wants the job, that is.  I second that.  Brian has an extremely sharp defensive mind, the proper demeanor to handle all that the job entails, the players love him, he knows the program inside and out, has great family support and has, certainly, paid his dues!!!  He is a very humble man, despite his success, and I am sure that he would surround himself with talented assistants, (offensive side of the ball,) and allow them the autonomy to do their jobs and would create a highly successful work environment for his staff.  Our family loves and respects the man and his entire family.  He does, indeed, "bleed purple," and we all know, "DEFENSE wins championships!"     ;D

Congrats, Grandma!  Great to be hearing from you again.  Our best wishes to the big red-head.  We need to get Carroll to the Perk!  :)
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

413- all great news, congrats.
I love the Borland idea as well.

The Warhawk Weekly show on Monday was very interesting and featured the UWW AD, former coach Brez and writer Josh Smith.
The podcast is available and is roughly 45 mins long.
Although there isn't any "news" beyond what we've read, it's an interesting discussion nevertheless.

Actually, it is the chemo that threatened his fertility.  Many cancer victims, who have chemo treatments, have a 30% chance that it makes them sterile for life!  A real problem for those who deal with it at such a young age.  Thank God, he dodged that bullet!  Thanks, everybody for all the support now and 5 years ago!   Those were some very dark days.   We are all feeling extremely blessed these days.   :)

Anybody have any thoughts about the Wartburg game?
When I saw Wartburg in September v Augsburg I thought that the only team that could stop them would be UWW. I have not watched WW but I did see UST the year they went to the Stagg Bowl and Bethel last year and I considered those teams to be strong D3 football teams. My first reaction in September was that Wartburg is on the same level as the UST team that beat Oshkosh in 2012.

Almost got it done this year, with Carroll going 8-2.  They lost to Macalester, the last game of the season to lose out on, at least, a share of the conference championship or they might have been the ones to get beat up by my WARHAWKS first round.  That would have been a hoot.  But you all saw that QB.  He is special and very hard to contain, especially with the Pioneers struggling at the line of scrimmage. Maybe next year.  I guarantee you, #33 is already thinking about it.     ;)   8-)

Looks like Wartburg's QB is extremely dangerous outside the pocket (more so than inside the pocket). He torched the Johnnie's rushing for over a 100 yards....but just passed for 87. Hopefully our lock-down corners can take care of the passing game, allowing the LBs to spy on Schrader's where-a bouts.

Athletic/scrambling QB's have been a week spot for UWW all season. This will be a huge test. UWW fans can't play the "They haven't played anyone" card on this game. They beat the best that the MIAC has to offer. Looks like the Knights are legit.

Dodged a bullet and still shooting live rounds, himself  ;)

I just had my first child in April.  Before that, I thought of football moments when I thought of the greatest moments in my life.  Man, he's going to really feel like he's living when he's holding his baby moments after delivery.   I know I did.  Such a rush and flood of emotions.

I remember hearing about his battle and can't believe its been 5 years already.  Amazing stuff.

Off topic, but this young lady -- Lauren Hill, is my neighbor.  Great family and she's done some WONDERFUL stuff for Pediatric Brain Cancer in the year since her diagnosis.  I'm sure you all heard about her story and saw the ESPN story on her.  Anyways, her family could really use our prayers.  They signed on with Hospice on Monday.

Sorry for going off topic here, Ladies and Gents.  But I really hope each of you reading this can take a moment and pray for this brave 19 year old as she looks at the sunset of her life.
