SaintsFan -- like many others I've followed that story since you first brought it up. Heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. I kept some of the articles to show my daughter as she gets older to show that the world, while sometimes harsh and unfair, is full of people that do wonderful things in the face of extreme adversity.

Best thoughts to Lauren and her family. Her story and her achievement, at least in my family, will be remembered and told again.

SaintsFAN

Thank you, jknezek.

I just told Pat its bringing out a very wide range of emotions for me.

I'm proud of her for what she's done to raise awareness for DIPG.
I'm sad for her because she's only 19 and had so many hopes and dreams.
I'm angry that there's not much happening to fight this particular cancer.. prior to her involvement.  Because it affects children.
I'm happy she's been able to get camera time and be the face of this awful disease.

And so on..

Thank you again.  You're a good lad.

My prayers to Lauren and all those with family and friends fighting cancer of all types.

It's everywhere around us and the best we can do is fight and live the life we've been given to the fullest, believing there are better things to come.

Anybody know how many of Lance's assistants will be going with him to SUNY-Buffalo?

We probably won't find out until after the UWW playoff season is over.

Anybody have any thoughts about the Wartburg game?
When I saw Wartburg in September v Augsburg I thought that the only team that could stop them would be UWW. I have not watched WW but I did see UST the year they went to the Stagg Bowl and Bethel last year and I considered those teams to be strong D3 football teams. My first reaction in September was that Wartburg is on the same level as the UST team that beat Oshkosh in 2012 2011.

Looks like Wartburg's QB is extremely dangerous outside the pocket (more so than inside the pocket). He torched the Johnnie's rushing for over a 100 yards....but just passed for 87. Hopefully our lock-down corners can take care of the passing game, allowing the LBs to spy on Schrader's where-a bouts.

Athletic/scrambling QB's have been a week spot for UWW all season. This will be a huge test. UWW fans can't play the "They haven't played anyone" card on this game. They beat the best that the MIAC has to offer. Looks like the Knights are legit.

No way I could disagree with this...but I just don't see Wartburg beating this UWW team.  Especially with a healthy Jake Kumerow.

That dude is a freak of nature.  I saw him walking into the stadium Saturday morning before the game...very imposing figure (thats not taking into consideration the beard and long hair  ;D). I think he is taller than the 6'5" they list him at, and his hands were as big as pizza pans.  Reminded me of a lanky Tyler Eifert.

Even though they played him sparingly, I saw enough to gather he was a man amongst boys.  He's got wheels, he's got hands, and he can jump like a cat.  As someone posted earlier, he is nearly in-defendable.

Wartburg is a very, very good team.  They may put some points on the board.  But bar a total UWW melt-down/implosion, they are not going to win this game.  Just my 2 cents.

Heading up from central Iowa Saturday morning it looks like. What is the tailgating scene like up there and are we free to partake of adult beverages in the open?
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Actually, it is the chemo that threatened his fertility.  Many cancer victims, who have chemo treatments, have a 30% chance that it makes them sterile for life!  A real problem for those who deal with it at such a young age.  Thank God, he dodged that bullet!  Thanks, everybody for all the support now and 5 years ago!   Those were some very dark days.   We are all feeling extremely blessed these days.   :)

Dodged a bullet and still shooting live rounds, himself  ;)

I just had my first child in April.  Before that, I thought of football moments when I thought of the greatest moments in my life.  Man, he's going to really feel like he's living when he's holding his baby moments after delivery.   I know I did.  Such a rush and flood of emotions.

I remember hearing about his battle and can't believe its been 5 years already.  Amazing stuff.

Off topic, but this young lady -- Lauren Hill, is my neighbor.  Great family and she's done some WONDERFUL stuff for Pediatric Brain Cancer in the year since her diagnosis.  I'm sure you all heard about her story and saw the ESPN story on her.  Anyways, her family could really use our prayers.  They signed on with Hospice on Monday.

Sorry for going off topic here, Ladies and Gents.  But I really hope each of you reading this can take a moment and pray for this brave 19 year old as she looks at the sunset of her life.
Oh wow, this is heartbreaking to hear about and being a parent of a young cancer survivor who walked this path to a different destination, thank God, words can not describe how sorry I am for her and her parents and family.  We should never be forced to bury our children.  But what a warrior she has been taking steps to make sure her life had meaning with her proactive fight  for others like herself.   My deepest, heartfelt thoughts and prayers to them and all who know and love her and this family, SF.  I can not imagine being in their shoes.  Well, actually I can and the thought of it rocks me to the core.      :'(

"Buffalo: Lance Leipold has hired a number of assistants from his Wisconsin-Whitewater staff – defensive coordinator Brian Borland, offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, offensive line coach Daryl Agpalsa and wide receivers coach Alan Hensell. He has also retained running backs coach Matt Simon and defensive line coach Chris Cosh from the previous staff."

If this turns out to be true....good god, that would be devastating for UWW. Talk about getting stripped of the best DIII coaching staff in the country and starting over.  :o

Definitely a bit surprising.  I understand bringing Borland with as he has shown himself to be an outstanding DC over many years, but I assumed that Leipold would hire a staff with more Div 1 experience.  Having both coordinators with no Div 1 coaching experience is a bold move.

If those rumors are true, good God, the staff is being gutted.  :'(
