Anybody know how many of Lance's assistants will be going with him to SUNY-Buffalo?

http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/

"Buffalo: Lance Leipold has hired a number of assistants from his Wisconsin-Whitewater staff – defensive coordinator Brian Borland, offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, offensive line coach Daryl Agpalsa and wide receivers coach Alan Hensell. He has also retained running backs coach Matt Simon and defensive line coach Chris Cosh from the previous staff."

:'(

If this turns out to be true....good god, that would be devastating for UWW. Talk about getting stripped of the best DIII coaching staff in the country and starting over.  :o

These guys are looking for a place to call home...

Coach Clark will find a home. He's a good coach. FCS Samford coach Pat Sullivan stepped down, I think that might be a good destination for Clark while he recovers from UAB screwing him over.

I might go that far. It's one thing reloading great players each year, but replacing a great coaching staff is another thing all together.

sjusection105

As mentioned on the MIAC board, this is not unusual in D1. Jerry Kill (current MN Gopher coach) has done this time & time again, most of his assistants have been with him from day one.
The UWW job is a plum of a job and if this is true, there will be a line of quality candidates eager for this job.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Unfortunately, if this story is true, now it's "jobs".

I'll believe it when I see it, in regards to Borland.  He has deep, DEEP roots Wisconsin and a chance to take over the program, if he stays.  But then again, who could blame any of them.  This is, totally, the worse case scenario, if true.  but 105 is spot on.  The job will attract a ton of impressive candidates, I'd think, and the program's national success started with a talented group of players back in 05,, while the coaching staff had been in place for years.  I'll put my money on the boys.   8-)

May be true, but be mindful that they also reported this earlier in the day:

QuotePer sources, Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst is targeting Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema

It was quickly shot down by ESPN talking directly to Bert, himself. It was assumed it was a ploy to get his name in the headlines and/or squeeze another pay raise out of Arky or Eichorst blowing a smoke screen. They know each other from their time at Wisconsin.

BTW, someone comment about the lack of D1 experience with the UWW coaches mentioned, but Daryl Agpalsa has 3 years as GA at Minnesota and Alan Hensell has a few years at Ole Miss and Tennessee and Gardner-Webb. Buffalo AD Danny White also came to Buffalo from Ole Miss, I believe, so may know Hensell from their work there. Borland is the one without D1 experience. But as LL said at the press conference, football is football, the players maybe a little bigger, stronger, and faster, but you prepare the same way. Just thinking out loud here, but Borlands nephew Tuf from Bolingbrook, Illinios is a top 2016  4* LB according to scout.com. It is thought that the Badgers have the inside track for him since dad Kyle played for UW. Just visited Madison last weekend unofficially. Maybe this move is a game changer for him and he goes to Buffalo to play for his uncle, possibly, if the report is true. Potentially, could be a huge get for Buffalo. Has been some talk of this on the scout boards recently.

Those hires look to be official, there is a story up on the UB athletics website.

All this with Lance taking the coaches to buffalo reminds me of a scene from the movie Animal House. Which seems fitting considering John Belushi attended UWW for a semester. While watching the clip keep in mind how I see it:

- Dean Wormer: Danny White (Buffalo AD)
- Repo men: Lance Leipold
- Mermaid/Cow/Manikin/The Bar: UWW coaching staff
- Blutarsky: 02 Warhawk (because he typically over reacts just like this)
- Otter: bleedpurple (voice of reason, always knows what to do to calm 02 down)
- Hoover: badgerwarhawk
- Niedermeyer and his Omega Theta Pi brothers: All the smug (private school) d3 fans loving every moment of this  ;)
- Schoenstein: BoBo (witty smart a$$ comments)
- Pinto: emma17 (Bobo's partner in crime)
- Delta Tau Chi frat: All UWW football fans

Of course this is mostly tongue and cheek (with about 20% how I really feel).  :'(

They took the whole &*^%& bar!!
