Confirmed it with #33 last night, we will be heading to the Perk on Saturday.  If memory serves, (and doesn't often these days,) are the reserved parking spots during the season over now?  Is it back to a first come, first serve, situation during the play-offs?

BTW, he and is wife made it Facebook official last night regarding my becoming a grandma in April, along with announcing the sex.  Seems the Raebel's have a future linebacker in the pipeline!    ;) :D ;D :'(

Reserved spots are still in place. We still get ours (A10) for the playoffs. But it's kind of a free-for-all anyway in the playoffs, because half the reserved spots don't get used this time of the year.

See you up there.
And so they still put down the red cones on the reserved spots?  Don't want to set up and get kicked out later.  Wow, how far we have fallen when it comes to the pecking order in the Perk....................   >:( ::)

That's the thing...there are no red cones, but we were told our pass is good for the playoffs. How people know whose spot is reserved is beyond me? Maybe my pass just gets me into the parking lot during the playoffs, then it's a free-for-all to park anywhere....I don't know.

Without a reserved spot pass you are required to follow the lot attendants directions. You'll end up being directed to a spot with a great view of all the open/unused reserved slots. So a bit of a walk to get to party row.

That said, being a Johnnie, I do hope this provides a significant speed bump for the UWW juggernaut.   ;) 8-)

I'll be honest, being a UWO Titan, ...I've been smiling since the LL hiring broke  ;D
Why?  My sources say that Cerroni has already expressed interest in becoming a Warhawk! :o 8-) ;D

Oh, now I see, a WW guy hired a LINFIELD guy.

I always thought it was the losing team to chant, "that's all right, that's ok, you'll all work for us someday."  Cmon Whitewater...you can't have it all!

Again, this all comes down to the guy Eichorst hires to replace Pelini. If his typical season is 9-10 wins, with a few 11+ win campaigns and a few conference titles, I think he's golden. People in Lincoln do realize it's not 1995 anymore. If it's more 4 losses every season, or worse (Michigan proves you can get worse by firing a guy you're not satisfied with!), it's a disaster. Granted, the new guy will almost undoubtedly have more decorum.

Maybe a $20 could improve my view a little.   ;D.

All football fans should know that Mike Riley is well thought of around the coaching profession because he's had a long and successful career and is of undisputed high character. Most however could never pry him away from OSU, although they tried, because it's his home.  Reportedly, Barry Alverez tried before hiring Gary Anderson. Maybe the allure of a $3M paycheck accomplished that or simply the brand called the Nebraska Cornhuskers. I think he's a big improvement over Pelini...but will he win the big, important games is yet to be determined. NU certainly have the infrastructure in place to do it. Personally, I thought Eichorst would go younger in age, but the fact that Shawn picked him himself without using a search firm or committee tells me he was a target from the beginning - a search firm probably wouldn't have targeted a 61 year old (no offense to 61 years olds). Surprised at how short of time it took to make the hire - would never happen that quickly in Wisconsin. I'm wondering what hazzben thinks?

Ah, you now those LINFIELD characteristics, they travel well...

BoBo

LL has added Eastern Michigan linebackers coach Chris Simpson to his staff to fill the same position in Buffalo. Simpson coached at UWW from 2003-07.

Interestingly, new Florida coach Jim McElwain does not plan to bring any staff members from Colorado State with him to Gainesville. How do you think those coaches feel about that?

Interesting note I found in the Bull Run blog (SB Nation) on Brian Borland. While LL is 106-6 as HC, Borland his defensive coordinator, has had a record of 153-19 in coaching UWW teams. Not to shabby if the information is true!!

Well, since you asked, I won't feel sorry for the length that follows  ;D

So, I'll confess, I was surprised by the hire. But then again, anyone who tells you they were expecting Riley is just blowing smoke. I was worried when the Beilema rumors were flying. I didn't want him. Call me crazy because he can coach and he can recruit, but his arrogance just rubs me wrong. And the way he left Alvarez hanging didn't giving me comfort he'd stick around in Lincoln long term if he had been the guy (not to mention, if it had been true, he'd have just dumped on the Hogs as well).

I'm optimistic about the Riley hire. Like BoBo said, he's universally respected in both the coaching ranks (ESPN did an anonymous poll of FBS coaches this fall and he was ranked as the 2nd most underrated coach by his peers) and by the football media. He's beloved by his current and former players. One tweet from a former player said something to the effect of, he still knows the names of the parents of every player he ever coached. That does matter, Bo's less than warm personality with his bosses and media did him no favors. And Eichorst loathes negativity.

Being nice won't win you any football games though. He's highly regarded as a talent evaluator, finding consistent 2 and 3 star gems. He recruits Texas well and obviously has West Coast connections. In Nebraska's hay day, they did well in both those areas. He's known as a really good offensive coach and quarterback developer.

Here's what I really like, in the last 12 years he's been offered the following HC jobs: 'Bama 2002, USC 2009 (as well as OC & DC at other points) and Wisconsin. This isn't the first marquee program to want Riley coaching them.

Why Nebraska over the others? I think prying him from Corvallis was a huge challenge. His dad coached at OSU, he was an all state QB for Corvallis HS. He's in the woodwork there and has a situation similar to Fred Hoiberg in Ames. I'm guessing Eichorst was maybe some of the 'X' factor. Bama in 2002 is not 'Bama in 2012, I get why he passed there. I'm guessing he got a really good commitment in terms of staff as well. I know Osborne is a huge Scott Frost fan, but he's only been an OC at Oregon for 2 years. Wondering if Osborne helped land Riley as well??

End of the day, his record in Corvallis isn't terrible and isn't amazing. Good seasons mixed in with average seasons. He took a program that hadn't one more than 4 games in 26 years and made them respectable. Similar record against top dogs as Bo, but not unexpected blowouts when they were favored or expected to compete. Bottom line, OSU is a bit of apples and oranges to Nebraska. In terms of prestige (I realize it's not 1995), definitely facilities and institutional support. Add in the fact you don't have the Taj Mahal of your instate rival to recruit against, I can see the appeal.

In my 'wouldn't it be great, never going to happen dream world,' we find out that Scott Frost is going to be the OC and the rumors about super recruiter Ed Orgeron joining the staff are true.

hazzben

One other nugget. Given Riley's age, if he does do well and then retires (i.e. doesn't get fired and Eichorst with him), it's now entirely possible that Eichorst could one day hire LL down the road. So I'll retract my prior comment about that being impossible.
