I read somewhere VK turned down La Crosse, but the way I understood it, he came across like an arrogant SOB during his on campus open interview and they didn't want him. I wasn't there, and he was so if he says he turned them down, so be it.

Maybe VK was doing the interview just to get experience. I don't know.

What I do know is that I've heard through several reliable sources that BoBo is correct, VK came off like a cocky tool and rubbed pretty much everyone the wrong way and they were not going that direction.

Maybe VK got wind of this or just read the vibe in the room and realized he wasn't gonna get the offer, so he withdrew his name. Maybe he was never really serious about it in the first place, which seems a funny thing to do (bad faith and all), and rather unfair to the schools involved. I can't answer that. But the consistent scuttlebutt is that he did himself no favors in the personality department.

In retrospect, I'm not sure VK cares one bit what we buy and don't buy with this story. He's coaching the school he wanted to be at all along in the Stagg Bowl this week. And it probably worked out best for UWRF and UWL as well, since he'd no doubt have jumped back to Mount rather than staying on long term.

Good luck to UWW!

And Bleed, very sorry to hear about your loss. I just attended my grandmother's funeral this past weekend as well, so I can imagine well what your family is going through. He sounded like an amazing man. God Bless.

Maybe some day the true story can be told.  Maybe within a week there will be a big story to tell.  One must just wait.
Craft-
Still waiting to hear who Oshkosh was scorned by....  Or did you get your WIAC schools mixed up as BoBo implied?

cubs, you'll never get a straight answer from this guy - or any answer - because he's a complete phony.

Maybe Craft has insider knowledge and VK is going to be hired at Michigan?   :o

It's obvious from his posts that Craft has no knowledge of anything, he's all smoke and mirrors, probably is dumber than a bag of hammers.

Furthermore, the tooth fairy has a better chance of being hired at Michigan than VK.

Boo Boo

I used to like your post when you wasn't drinking too much.  You need to slow down a bit.  I trying to get caught up on your post.  La Crosse went after Vince pretty hard and it didn't workout.  Neither of us and to my knowledge no one that post on this board was there so we don't know first hand what happened.  Your version of how things went down are very different from mine.  It kind of worked out for everyone involved.  After these things end it is common for all sides to float stories to try to defend their point of view.

We've talked about coaches making a big jump like Lance has going from DIII to D1 but how about a coach going from high school to D1.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2014/dec/16/tony-sanchez-unlv-approved/

Probably the most famounos high school football coach to D1 football as Gerry Faust going directly from Moeller High School in Cincinatti to Notre Damn in 1981.  Ask Boo Boo and he can confirm it

Seriously though, my mind is still trying to get around the idea that Harbaugh may be turning down a job that would have paid him $50,000,000. Granted, he'll demand similar money from a pro team. But man, rough life for these guys! In reading Pelini's scorched earth comments to the Nebraska players regarding Eichorst, I'm left shaking my head. Oh, the job was stressful?!? Maybe that's why you made $3,000,000 per year!

Bo Pelini grew up in Youngtown area and played football at Youngstwon Cardinal Mooney which is same high school that all the Stoop brothers played at.  Pelini stared at Ohio State a few years before Jim Tressel  coached there.

Pelini has a nasty temper and has gone off multiple times so we will see if Tressel who know is president at Youngstown State can influence Pelini enough to keep him in line.  Tressel in the past always seem to find a few talented but troubled football players and tried to use his fatherly ways to keep them in line.  We shall see how Tressel does with Pelini.  I think YSU had other targets they were zeroing in on before Pelini became available.

Oh as far as VK going anywhere you have the wrong part of the tree.

Oshkosh and WHITEWATER are public schools and their employees are state employees.  As such the university is legally obligated to follow certain procedures when there is a job vacancy.  This includes coaching vacancies.  The opening has to be posted for a certain number of days before they can begin to interview candidates unless they are able to get an emergency designation.  WHITEWATER was granted emergency status when they hired the new wrestling coach and was going to attempt to get it for the football job though the circumstances are quite a bit different than those involving the wrestling job.  Whether we are successfull in getting emergency hire status or not will play a significant factor in the time frame it takes to get a new coach and staff in place.

We do have at least one internal candidate in Kevin Bullis.  He was offered the opportunity to go to Buffalo but for personal reasons declined.  He's definitely head coach material and is planning on putting his hat in the ring.   From what I've heard interest has been off the charts.

Badgerwarhawk are you surprised on who they are targeting also. Hmmmm

badgerwarhawk

I have no idea who they are targeting.   I don't know that they are targeting anyone at this point in time.

Schwami, Barry Alverez was successful in getting the period that the job had to be posted down to five days.  Which is why he was able to act so swiftly.  I'm not sure who it is that decides whether the posting time can be reduced.  Maybe the Board of Regents?  There's way too much money involved to leave the Badger position empty for very long.

Warhawk senior DB Brady Grayvold, Norway, MI has been named to The Associated Press' Little All-American first team.

Other WIAC's:

Oshkosh punter Nate Ray, Verona, WI - second team
Platteville LB Jacob Zilbar, Tampa, FL - third team

Team is comprised of top Division II, III, NAIA players

Just wait a few posts, craft will tell us that he knows who the Warhawk AD is targeting (he has a direct link to her), only he won't tell us. Go figure.

Happy game day everybody!  Good luck to both teams, with a touch more to the Purple Raiders!  I know it will be a good, hard fought game and hope both squads come through with no injuries and no excuses.

From where I sit, I'd love to see history repeat itself and to wake up tomorrow saying that the last two UWW coaches were both able to end their tenure the same way!

wesleydad

good luck to UWW today.  Hopefully all those on the road are finding the travel safe.  First time since 06 that I will not be at the game.  Life happens sometimes.  I think Mount is going to win, but this has all the makings of a good game.  Hopefully it will play out that way.  I have always enjoyed chatting with the UWW fans when they arrive at the Stone Station tailgate, sadly they will not be there today either.  The weather looks good for the game.

Craft accuses BoBo of penning "drunk posts" but I had trouble with the grammar of Craft himself, Anyone who has "beer" in his screen name should edit their posts, or else risk being accused of drunk posting themselves.
