UWW Stagg Bowl press conference

I love the 6:13 question, and Lance's response to a question at 10:00  ;D
When I watched it on Friday night, it brought an immediate huge smile to my face.   For all of Lance's class......you could always see the competitive edge smoldering under the surface and he always controlled it, including in this answer, but it is absolutely classic.

That was interesting, thanks for the link 02.
Warhawk Dad I like your assessment.  You can see he holds back although I imagine he really wanted to unload on the ridiculously wrong comment made by Drass.  In fact, if LL did speak his mind about Drass's comment, it's likely his answer would form the basis for some very much needed changes to the current Pool C selection process.

I know you still have that ax you're grinding but Wesley has never received a Pool C bid.

Try giving the benefit of the doubt Pat. I know Wesley is a Pool B (and I even know they join a conference next year).
The big picture point of my statement is Drass's assumption that Mt must be "all that" since they crushed Wesley "that won 12 games against pretty good competition".
In order to make Pool C work better (ie raise the level of competition, which would actually reduce the chances of Mt vs UWW) there needs to be a change in how "good competition" is defined.

Wesleydad's post reminded me of the discussion of Coach Drass's comment.
From Buckeyeextra:
Quote"I think Mount Union is going to kick somebody's (butt) next week," Wolverines coach Mike Drass said. "Why? Because they just beat a team up and down the field that won 12 games against some pretty good competition. I hope they win it, and I sincerely mean that."

I don't feel like there's anything offensive about that quote.  Guy just coached his team in a game in which their doors were blown completely off.  I don't even think he was referring just to Whitewater as the game against Linfield hadn't kicked off yet.

My .02

Did you see the game?  As UWW showed on Friday night, Mt didn't whip Wesley's butt because Mt is at an untouchable level.  Perhaps he would have been better advised to self reflect on what his team was lacking that resulted in the embarrassment.

We haven't heard anything out of him after the game.  The comment was inappropriate at the time and it still is.  Talk about the game you just played and leave the championship game comments to the coaches that actually got there

My my my...

Some Warhawks fans here are ripping one person who, after a tough loss, didn't attend a postgame Stagg Bowl press conference...

And ripping yet another, who did speak his mind, after a tough loss, but prior to the Stagg Bowl...

Here is my assessment of everything. The coach from Wesley was upset they got beat 70-21 and made the comment because that's how he felt.
Vince Kearse was totally wrong in not seeking out Lance Leipold after the game to shake his hand. Instead he tried to sneak away and of course ESPNU did a great job showing him walking off and Lance going to shake his hand.
The Quarterback showed poor sportsmanship in not showing up for the post-game press conference. He was named the gagliardi award winner for second year in a row and was beaten/shut down by a better team defense for the second year in a row. With winning the equal of the division three Heisman he needs to realize that expectations of him playing well as well as being mount unions featured player is part of the game. He did not have the results he wanted but not showing up at the press conference was not how to react. Go to the press conference and admit you didn't play well and say that you will work even harder to get back to the game next year and try win it all.
With the end of this Merry Christmas to all of the posters out there and hopefully after the holidays we will start to be able to talk about the potential next head coach at UWW. One thing I heard last night at Coach Perkins service was a certain former UWW OC is considering applying. However after the way he acted after he didn't get the job he wasn't sure he would be given an interview. Interesting to say the least in my mind.

Key word there is some. Like I stated before, I don't care that Burke didn't attend the confernce.

I think most warhawk are just happy that wesley's coach was dead wrong more than anything. I think any player/coach/fan relishes at the opportunity to prove someone wrong who tells them they have no chance at winning. Can't blame anyone for that.

Many of MUC's opponents will be up in arms if he somehow makes his way on the field next year!!!!   :o

BTW-Who was that former Warhawk that was always trying to drag Whitewater through the mud?  "dachampishere's" posting style sure seems to look familiar in that regard, or is it just me?  (I's not connected to WW like many of you are...)

I think Lance has a better chance of returning than that happening.
