I'd pay the $12.00, or whatever, to watch the Delaware / Wisconsin Purple People Eaters play two years in a row.

Wesley's finished in the top 7 in eight of the last 9 seasons. They've been to the national semis 5 times in 10 years. They've sometimes shown over the past decade they can beat second tier programs like Linfield and Mary Hardin Baylor [like Wesley, until these two can prove they can consistantly beat Mount Union and then UWW, they are not elite], and hang with—and nearly upset—Mount Union. They have yet to come close to beating Whitewater and, in fact, have shown themselves to be nothing more than run-of-the-mill against the Warhawks in their previous meetings. They've spent most of the decade operating several levels higher than the best the old, or new NJAC has had to offer (2011 being the possible exception).

That they've tripped up three times against the NJAC in that time? Meh. You call it ignoring evidence, I call it the randomness everyone except the purple powers is are susceptible to. They probably will have some close games, and they may even lose one or two now and again. But I still think they're a couple levels ahead of the NJAC.

Not that it really matters, but some of your thoughts are a bit discombobulated. I corrected, in red,  for accuracy!!

UWW doesn't charge for their stream, not sure about wesley. They're not going to play each other anyways. But, there's always Whitewater/Finlandia!! Yippee!! Maybe they should bring back a combined Waldorf, Midland Lutheran and Dakota State instead. Hopefully, Whitewater gets their kinks ironed out in their stream because the quality of the production this past season was at an all-time low - basically sucked in every regard and unwatchable. The basketball game last night was the first stream that didn't spend more time buffering than actually playing.

Pop on to see who UWW hires for coach and find the usual Wesley bashing... Get over yourselves, you are the best team in the country, enjoy it.

I'm going out on a limb here, just free-thinking your statement, wesleydad, and maybe all the vitriol that boils on these pages is due to the fact except for two, possible three UWW supporters, the UWW fans on this page recieve not an smidgen of the respect that the UWW players earn on the field.

I'm just thinking out loud here. I really have no idea what motivates the supporters of the most dominant team of the last decade to be such bitter, twisted, unhappy, and predictably obnoxious jackasses.

Oz- I think your DB side is coming out again. You seem to be a much more pleasant guy when posting on the MIAC board. You know, that site where the Johnnies continuously rip the Tommie's- and not always in good spirit?

Maybe it is a distance factor or something, but I was not able to attend as many home games in person this year as I would have preferred and I streamed them and I had great connections.

Then again, maybe I am the exception.

While I always appreciate a good edit, my central point is unchanged. Wesley's a program that several times over the last decade has made it to the national semis. The last time anyone in the NJAC reached that level was what, Rowan in 2005? I just don't see the programs as being close.

We can only play those who answer the phone.  Trust me we've reached out to far, far better competition than these you've mentioned and gotten no interest what-so-ever.  I like to see Wesley scheduled but given the current state of affairs regarding state funding to their public universities I suspect we'll see fewer and fewer longer trips.

Personally I give Findlandia a hell of a lot of credit for scheduling three WIAC schools right out of the gate.  I totally suspect they could have found considerably easier opponents to fill those dates.  Rather than mock them we should be gratefull imo.

Excuse me for laughing my ass off but the irony of a St Johns supporter talking about a fan base bashing another fan base is just too frickin' funny.  Hello pot, my name is kettle and we're black.

Oz,
Do you think you might be overstating your case a bit here? While I've seen a couple of acerbic posts lately, I 'm not sure it's quite risen to the level the bolded above implies.

WD, good to hear from you again. I hope you are well. As I looked back over the posts regarding a potential UW-W/Wesley game, I saw some opinions that Wesley may not want that game and some that simply pointed out that Wesley would, indeed, have a lot to lose (potentially) if they were to lose.  While there was a post or two that I would interpret as Wesley-bashing, most of them were simply discussing the topic as far as I could tell.

I think there is a far greater number of UW-W fans that respect Wesley than don't. I also think there is a far greater number of fans that respect the Johnnies than don't.  Broad brush painting can be fun when it is directed at a fan base you don't particularly care for, the problem is that it is seldom accurate.

I think some of the bashing posts can be funny and most probably are far more "barroom banter" than they are reflective of some kind of anger. Always best not to take them personally.  It fascinates me to see how people interpret posts and how many people ascribe motives to the poster.  For those who like to bash, keep bashing. For those who like to respond, keep responding.  For those who like to analyze and opine, keep analyzing and opining. Until someone with authority has the guts to stand up to ISIS and blow them off the planet, we should probably cherish our right to free speech now more than we ever have.

bleedpurple, all is well.  moving along with the school year.  just finished coaching wrestling for the season and due to a lack of interest by other staff members I get to coach girl's softball this year.  Looking forward to warmer weather, which I am sure you all in Wisconsin are chuckling at.  It will be as cold in the Philly area tomorrow as it was when I visited UWW on 06.  Only positive that day was that we did not have to by ice to keep the beer cold in the trunk of the car.  Oh, and my son did catch the only TD Wesley scored that day.  But I digress.

Were the UWW faithful surprised by the choice for coach?  Will be interesting to see if the high level will continue.  How fast can Sept get here?

Me? Mocking? How could you say such a thing!!  ;D Seriously, Whitewater must really be hard pressed looking for games to take one against a start-up program like Finlandia. Not going to be pretty to watch, but neither were the games against the NAIA schools I mentioned (I was actually mocking them - sorry for the confusion).  I think Finlandia actually would welcome an invitation for admission into the WIAC. Where is Finlandia in the UP anyway? How much further is it than a trip to Superior. Is it Findlandia or Finlandia? What do you think bw, could the three games to start their football life be like campaigning for admission to the WIAC? Probably wouldn't be good for baseball, but the other sports, it might work out. It would be 1 less NC game to worry about.

Speaking of oz, he reminds me of this guy...they both have many questions about them to answer, and many of them are remarkably similar - just replace haircut with oz (and a little grammar fix) and see where it leads.

Glad things are well.  Girl's softball should be fun to coach, especially if you have a pitcher! Over the last couple of years, I've caught a couple of girl's high school fast-pitch games. Man, the girls' skills are night and day from back in my time.

The hiring process was really interesting. UW-W did a real thorough job and through public forums, whoever wanted to take the time to meet and hear from the candidates had an opportunity to do so.  A number of the candidates were very impressive.  While some may have been surprised by the results, not too many were. Coach Bullis has always been liked and respected at UW-W. Looking retroactively, while most of us realized he was a strong internal candidate, he may have been even stronger than we suspected. He demonstrated great vision, a plan with specifics, passion, and a firm understanding of how things work and how to get things done and succeed in the UW-W context. I think it is fair to say that the people that were most involved in the process were the least surprised by the decision. Not because of inside information, but because Kevin did a great job of seizing the opportunity before him in the process. I am convinced that UW-W will be very well coached and that the kids will play exceptionally hard for KB. Players tend to love him.

Finlandia (no early 'd') is in the western UP (near Houghton and Mich Tech).  I suspect they're more likely to be Packers fans than Lions fans.  They are closer to many West teams than to any Michigan team - I won't claim credit for the switch, but I long lobbied for them to become a West team instead of a GL team.

Since WIAC is exclusively public schools of the Wisconsin persuasion, I seriously doubt they are lobbying for that membership.  UMAC perhaps?
