Let me guess the next statement:
"And that's why people don't post on the WIAC board".

Fwiw when I read Just Bill's original post I felt exactly as Bleed posted. Not because I want to be lockstep w Bleed or Bobo, but it's how I feel.
Of course we should all recognize the difficulty Matt will have in winning the number 2 spot- but of course we should all recognize the spot is there for the taking. As with every other number 2 spot and many number one spots on NFL rosters.

It's a tall order for Blanchard.  No doubt.  But hopefully he shows some chops and we see him in green and gold in August, and beyond.

On a side note, maybe I will see him at the charity softball game in June.  I got to be an umpire last year for that game, and probably will again this year.  That would be very cool.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

When Blanchard beats out Tolzein then you can all feel free to jump all over me. You guys are good at ganging up. Until then we'll just have to wait.

If you guys were completely honest with yourself you'd know Just Bill is right. It would take a miracle for Tolzein to be supplanted in the #2 spot. Though I love Blanchard as much as the next person, he's going to be fighting for the third string spot which unless Tolzein plays like crap they might not even keep a third QB on the roster. Honestly I think Blanchard at most is fighting for another practice squad stint. Would love to be proved wrong though.

He might be right. I just find it odd for a guy who has never been a firm #2 to not be subject to any competition. I'm more fascinated with how quickly JB assumed the victim role. By "you guys"
He must be talking about BoBo and I. So any time we happen to agree with each other, we should not both chime in? It's a subject I brought up. Just Bill weighed in but doesn't want people who hold a different view to counter because it is "ganging up? Absurd.

Since Just Bill is not the first person to mention this, perhaps you might want to think about taking this to heart.

Is this the one that takes place in Appleton? Always see the signs for it when I'm at the D-III world series.

Yeah, that's the one. It's a lot of fun.

No, jedi master, Bill is not right!! You're putting more meat on what he incorrectly said. He says a career practice squad/#3 QB is guaranteed a #2 roster position on an NFL team - that is not just absurd, but as a long time observer of the NFL, he is totally uninformed about how the NFL works. A backup with a no-compete clause in his contract - I've never heard of such foolishness - an that's what he said jedi, so don't twist it around. It's a business and if someone (including MB) outplays ST, which is entirely within the realm of possiblities, they take that position. That's just the way it goes in the NFL. And that's what I said and I think what bleed was saying, too. We were neither ganging up or conspiring anything. Neither of us said MB was going to beat out ST, but for the fact that the Packers signed MB and will possibly draft/sign another, nothing is assured or being handed to Tolzein. However, it is an uphill fight for anyone since we all know MMc has a bromance with ST.

Seriously, they have umpires for charity softball games?...why?  Did Jordy Nelson personally hire you? What do they do, buy you lunch to get you up there? They don't pay you since it is for charity, right? I heard the Globetrotters might be hiring, too - you might be qualified.

Sure, they have umpires - but we are really just window dressing. Through my job I work with a sports marketing agent here in Milwaukee who handled Donald Driver for years (that was a plum!) and now Jordy plus a few other Packers and assorted other athletes.  His firm produces the game.  We've had some fun conversations about his line of work, and I mentioned my umpiring.  He asked me shortly thereafter.  No, there is no pay.  I have to drive up to Appleton the morning of the game - in return I get a few comp tickets for my family and a chance to be on the field.  Autographs are pretty easy to get, too.  Oh, yeah, there is a spread of food for the players that I get to indulge in.

Last year there was a good hearted kerfuffle during the game, and Davon House hit me over the head with 3rd base. (gently) Hilarious.

I think that's really cool KS.  Though I only officiate hoops it's the kind of thing I might pay them to let me do.  I've never gone to the game but everything I've seen and heard about it makes it out to a be a hell of a lot of fun.

Huh?
So I understand your point Pat- are you saying there is evidence that Bleed and Bobo "ganged up" on Just Bill?

Regarding Tolzien/Blanchard -  At this point Tolzien is the clear favorite to be the #2 quarterback based on his tenure with the team and level of experience.  Don't forget how much time and energy McCarthy spends on developing backup QB's - it took quite some time for Tolzien to get to the level that he's at now and will probably take Matt some time as well to adjust to the system and get to where he needs to be.  However, the Packers wouldn't have signed Blanchard and brought him in if they didn't think he had the ability to challenge Tolzien for the #2 role.  Matt will get an opportunity to show what he's worth, but all NFL teams bring at least 3 qb's to camp to save reps for the #1 guy.  It is possible that Matt is being brought in to be a camp arm with the caveat that if he impresses he will be kept on as the #2/#3 QB or signed to the practice squad.  Either way Congratulations to him.
