Another UW-Whitewater football player is getting a shot at the NFL. Brady Grayvold just tweeted: "Just got the call of a lifetime, I GOT AN INVITE TO THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS ROOKIE MINI CAMP THIS WEEKEND! IS THIS A DREAM?! UNBELIEVABLE"

So, two of our guys going to the East Dakota Vikings for a tryout...once purple always purple I guess. But, why does it have to be them? I can still like the players, even as I hate the state and the team, right?

CORRECTION: I don't hate all of east Dakota - I've always enjoyed the North Shore area - Grand Marais and the BWCA - but that's more like Canada anyways.

The PACKERS are bringing Alabama QB Blake Sims in for a tryout.  My only reason for mentioning it is that judging by the comments the past few days we seem interested in the team's QB situation.  It's just a tryout so cut me some slack, emma.  ;) ;D

Blake Sims - Bart Starr ... humm, I'm beginning to see some similarities.

But with Blake being AF-AM, I guess that's where the similarities end.

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Oh, Jesus, here we go again!!   ::)

Well, I know of some really competitive Flag Football teams down here in the flatlands that Matt could try out for.  :'(
Seriously though- there is a reason Matt has had opportunities w three NFL (yes I'm counting the Bears as one) teams. He's got a lot of the attributes of a pro QB including the body, solid technique, mental capacity and a winning history. Hopefully that combination, which has kept him around this far against many competitors, will finally land him a roster spot.

Congrats to Jake Kumerow, signed by the Bengals. According to SB Nation's Cincy Jungle, The Bengals "began the college free agent period" by signing Jake.  Good luck Jake! Show 'em  what you got!

The Bengals were VERY thin at WR at the end of the season.  They deployed Rex Burkhead as a WR in the playoff game against the Colts.  Its a point of emphasis for them as they look to 2015.  They also had him in for a private workout prior to the draft.  I believe you'll see him at training camp in July.

I'm generally a positive person, but I'm also realistic. Jake definitely has a chance to make the team, Blanchard unfortunately does not. If a miracle does happen and he makes the team that would be awesome but I'm expecting practice squad.

Still not buying it MJ.

To say Matt does not have a chance or needs a miracle is hyperbole. Here's your miracle:

1. Packers sign no more QB's.
2. Hundley isn't ready (which he won't be)
3. Tolzein gets hurt in preseason.

Bingo. Matt is your backup QB. Not exactly the Red Sea parting.

Three weeks ago I was scolded because Blanchard was going to beat out Tolzein straight up. Now he needs an injury? Where'd the confidence go?

I'll say this again...more slowly, this time because you don't really get it...you were scolded (your word not mine) for saying the Packers had declared Tolzein the backup by virtue of signing him to a contract and electing not to resign Matt Flynn. That's it...that's the only reason. Stop making up other stories. Myself and I think bp (but since there is no conspiracy, I don't speak for him) were saying pro teams don't sign players with the guarantee to be a backup or even make the team. That was it and only it. In fact if you listen to Mike McCarthy's post draft press conference on Packers.com he was even asked flat out if anyone has made the team yet. Without hesitation he said no one is set since we (the Packers) don't even have our 90 man pre-season roster completed yet. Coaches' language for sure. But you can take that to mean no one, not Aaron Rogers (well maybe not AR), not your man Scott Tolzein or even Huntley for what it's worth, has made the team yet. That is completely a 180 from what you said, which I shall repeat was Scott Tolzein was signed to be the backup. If you want to stick to your story, please send a link to where the Packers or Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy or the assistant grounds keeper or anyone else in Lambeau Field said such a preposterous statement. Let me save you the trouble, it doesn't exist because it was never stated. That's just your opinion, or that of some journalist who wrote a story you read, which is fine. But don't continue to say it like it is a fact because it isn't. Tolzein or Hundley may very well win the backup postion in training camp, no one was arguing that - but it isn't going to be simply handed to either of them without competition. Matt has a chance and we know he will give it his all and let the chips fall where they may. You seem to have a problem with that for some reason. Maybe it's time to get over it!!

Personally, I don't really care. I just hope Matt does is best.

My first post on Tolzein was my opinion and only my opinion. I never said otherwise.

Every post since has been nothing but me yanking your chain, because, oh my god, how much fun it is to watch you (and some others) overflow with defensiveness. I even tell you that I'm trolling and you still can't help yourself. It's beautiful.
