Cincinnati Bengal rookie minicamp got underway yesterday. The Cincinnati Enquirer sports section today includes a feature photo of former UW-Whitewater wide receiver Jake Kumerow making one of those one-handed catches he often made at Perkins Stadium

I don't really care what the NFL does to the Patriots though I wouldn't necessarily say that the rules regulating the equipment NFL teams use are minor.  My hunch is that the Patriots still win even with properly inflated balls.  However the investigation and resulting report only confirms what I've known since the incident came to light and that is that Tom Brady is a liar and a cheat.  IMO his refusal to fully cooperate with the NFL's investigation by refusing to allow access to the text messages on his phone is more significant than his involvement in deflating the football.  It's interesting that individuals he claimed to not even know have text messages on their phones from him.

Did anyone else catch Jimmy Fallon's interview of Football #6 the other night?  It was hilarious.

I hope the NFL does more than simply throw the book at the Patriots since the NFL Game Operations Manual dictates a violation of the PSI rule triggers only a $25,000 fine - that's like the penalty for wearing the wrong socks.  Regardless that NE still would've won (probably), they have to take away a 2016 low round draft pick, fine the team, especially as a repeat offender (Spygate anyone), and fine Brady personally and get that Patriots equipment guy (Mr. Deflator or whatever nickname he goes by) who texted with Brady about it out of the position where he is allowed to play with anybody's balls in the bathroom again. Also, the NFL needs to change the rule that allows QB's to select the balls they want to use before the game. QB's shouldn't be feeling balls before a game, in my opinion.  I may be a bit old school, but that's just not right.  Roger Goodell has spoken consistently since taking the commish position about integrity of the game and competitive balance, so he has to do something substantial. The Sports Books in Vegas and off shore and the gambling public need this to happen to have confidence in doing what they do to support the league.  The Patriots have such a track record for shady organization behavior that they need to feel some considerable discomfort for their latest untrustworthy actions.

Hey voice, went to my favorite sports apparel shop in I'taewon in Seoul on Sat. and got made a #84 Bengal home jersey (Kumerow), #6 Packer road white jersey (Blanchard), as well as a powder blue Charger #28 (Melvin Gordon).  I support Behrendt and Grayvold, too, but besides not knowing what (if any) jersey number the Vikings assigned them, I simply can not get myself to wear a Viking jersey under any circumstance. Maybe I'll get theirs when they make the team, however. They're under $30 each ($100 on the NFL shop), made to order. Great deal, in my book.

I'm a Vikings fan and I can't bring myself to wear one.  There's only one type of person that hates the Viqueens more than a Packers fan and that's a disaffected lifelong Vikes fan.

Its sort of funny... Brady Grayvold is from the UP of Michigan but he has been a longtime Vikings fan - not a Lion's fan. Isn't it ironic???

He's also a San Francisco Giants  fan and not a Tigers guy as well.

as a DODGERS guy I feel dirty just typing that.

He was probably just as close to the Twin Cities as he was to Detroit. Sort of analogous to a kid from Pensacola growing up a fan of the Saints rather than the Dolphins.

UP population generally swings more towards the Packers than the Lions or the Vikings.

That is one awesome map! It looks like something Wolf Blitzer would use to predict the winner of the Super Bowl!

I've always maintained the name "Wolf Blitzer" should be reserved strictly for a linebacker!

Bleed- You're right, that's a linebacker name through and through.

I see Brady received a 4 game suspension.  There had to be a consequence and I think this is fair.  Now that the punishment is decided, I'd like to know why the PSI matters in the big leagues.

This will be a great opportunity for Garoppolo.

Does anyone know if Brady will appeal?  I can't believe I'm defending that pretty boy and his team, but I don't think the NFL made thier case.  Or at least the indictment they presented could have many plausible explinations for the events they describe (such as texts or toilet breaks) other than cheating.  But then after Ray Rice (is that the name from the Baltimore player) the NFL is probably erring on the side of unjust conviction.

Evidently Roger Goodell thinks the NFL rules governing equipment are more significant than many here thought.  Brady is a liar and a cheat.  He got exactly what he deserved.  Of course he'll appeal Oz and most likely get the penalty reduced in some manner.  The $1 million dollar fine is the largest in NFL history.

I'm sure their are more reasons but one important one, imo, is that the NFL attempts to  balance the playing field by having both teams playing with the same football.
