Don't think this has been previously reported here, but a big loss (no pun intended) for Stevens Point before camp even opens. Junior to be for the 2015 season,  Ryan Ramczyk, 6'6" 310# O-lineman, a first team All-WIAC and 3rd team All West Region selection has transferred to UW-Madison. He will wear jersey #65 for the Badgers. He will have to sit out this season before resuming his career with UW in 2016. He's a former all-state player at SPASH.

Nice, Wildcat11! That is hilarious!

02- Clean slate, clean slate, clean slate.  ;)

Definitely different definitions!

Emma- I really believe the UW-W staff is impervious to the rankings either way.  They are aware of and respect all that has been accomplished at UW-W up to this point.  They realize they have not won a game yet and they are embracing the challenge of helping the 2015 team reach it's potential.  My read is that they believe in these players and they believe in one another. It's going to be a fun year.   ;)

^^
I do hear that there is a high level of excitement amongst the whole program.
Part of the excitement comes from some of the ideas the new staff has in mind. When the coaching change was first announced I admit I was most concerned w keeping things the same. I'm come around now to looking forward to seeing new things.  I'm certain Coach Bullis will keep the foundational philosophies in place- which should set the stage for 2015 being a really fun year as you said Bleed.
I could hardly be more anxious.
(Only a better non con schedule would increase my excitement).

I shudder to think of poor Finlandia.  Of the other two non-con games, I don't know much about Belhaven, but I'd be surprised if they can hold up v. the Warhawks.  The third game is v. Morningside on the road.  The Sporting News ranks them #1 pre-season in the NAIA (for what that's worth).  The come off 2014 having averaged 662 yds/game on offense, scoring 55.5 pts/game, while giving up about 21.  Their returning QB led the NAIA in passing efficiency; 4 of the top 6 receivers return, all of them with at least 26 catches last year.  Nine offensive starters are back.  They do lose a record-setting running back.
Anyway, maybe some of you who are better versed on the NAIA can assess the relative strength of a top-tier NAIA team v. the best of DIII.  I do know something about Marian (Ind). They have a terrific bunch of players, and they lost the NAIA championship last year to So. Oregon.  Sporting News pre-season has them at #2.  They routinely capture some of the better non-DI players in Indiana and recruit well out of state.
Any thoughts as an off-season exercise?

From various published reports, it looks like Oshkosh has picked up QB Connor Senger as a transfer from UW-Madison. Senger is on the diminutive side (5'10" 180#), but has a chance to be a super spread-attack QB for the Titans. He was a two time scout team offensive player of the year for the Badgers (out of Pius XI H.S. in Milwaukee), where he played the dual threat QB of the Badger spread offense opponents - and he did so very successfully, (except maybe the week prior to the B1G championship game last December  ;D ) according to the many Badger teammates who have spoken out about him. This past spring, he was moved to WR to help fill a need, for as many of us know, the Badger didn't have a lot of quality, depth, or experience in that position last year and haven't been able to recruit a scholarship receiver worthy of playing time out of high school in a some time. Remember Abby was a walk-on, just like Senger. He doesn't have the down field passing arm to make it as a D1 QB threat in a Paul Chryst offense, but he's a terrific, elusive runner and maybe his arm is sufficient for D3, his running ability will most certainly be his strength. I believe his 2 years worth of experience in Madison will be a good addition for the Titans if this news turns out to be true - and I don't doubt that it is. Is he better than whoever they have now?  Only time will tell. He did break his pinky finger on his left hand during the Badgers' Spring Game - broke it in a real ugly fashion. The pictures that he posted online showed it pretty mangled with the bone exposed. His comment about it went something like this, "Play wide receiver," they said..."It'll be fun," they said... Good sense of humor in what had to be a very painful moment. I like guys like that; guys who don't cry over spilled milk!! Any Oshkosh guys on here have any further details? I assume, this news signals that Oshkosh intends to remain a spread option offense after losing their OC to UWW this spring. Who was hired as the replacement?

Yesterday proved it's good to be Brett Favre in Wisconsin again!! Are you kidding me? 67,000 people paid to see him and his family walk on the Lambeau Field turf for 15 minutes and say a few words. Only in Green Bay. I watched it all online, it was a pretty special moment.

Nice to see a two future Warhawks score on TD pass receptions for the South team in the WFCA All-Star Game at Oshkosh Saturday night, helping their team to victory.

The US won the IFAF championship game against Japan 59-12, proves in the US football is king.

In other news to what Bobo said about Oshkosh, if they keep the spread then I don't like the spread and think it hurts teams overall more than it helps.

These are two great additions to the Warhawk program.

Nathanial Osterloo is 6'3" and very adept at going up over a defender to make a catch. He is a football, basketball, and baseball guy. In baseball, he plays shortstop, center field, and pitches. He broke the school's single season stolen base record.

Mitchell Dess looks to me like he has a lot of Justin Howard in him. Excellent athlete, explosive, 5'11". Dess was First Team All State and turned down at least two scholarship offers to make UW-W his college home. Excellent return guy and just ran past people in high school. Can also play DB.

I believe both to be future impact guys for the Hawks.

Honest question-Did UWO run the spread in 2012 when Wara was a senior?

Now this is good news. UWW has done well w the football/baseball guys. Coach LL was one of those guys.

emma17

Good stuff Bobo- thanks for sharing. UWO will continue to be a very dangerous team.

Cubs- depending on the poster's definition of "Spread" offense, I believe UWO ran the read option from the Spread formation. Much like Mt ran w Burke. I don't recall if Wara ran as much his senior season- I seem to remember his carries were reduced.

In 2012 (14 Games) he had 185 carries for 740 yards... (366 Pass Attempts)
-So 13.2 carries/game and 26.1 Pass Attempts/Game

In 2011 (10 Games) his numbers were 140 carries for 605 yards... (234 Pass Attempts)
-So 14 carries/game and 23.4 Pass Attempts/Game

In 2010 (10 Games) his numbers were 147 attempts for 555 yards (295 Pass Attempts)
-So 14.7 carries/game and 29.5 Pass Attempts/Game

In 2009 (10 Games) his numbers were 109 attempts for 421 yards (266 Pass Attempts)
-So 10.9 carries/game and 26.6 Pass Attempts/Game (It should be noted he also shared time at QB position with Wegner)

Just watched the HUDL film on both of these guys and Wow!  Love Osterloo's size and Dess is flat out fast.   He does remind me of Justin Howard.  Good catch Bleed!

I'm surprised the football gods let us play in this "championship." I'm sure the Japanese or any of the other teams are thrilled to know that the best they can expect is to come in second after getting their clocks cleaned before their long journey home. I wonder how long this masquerade goes on before these other countries realize it's all a waste of time and money...this isn't basketball.

On the other subject, can you explain how the spread hurts teams overall more than it helps? I've never thought of it that way.
