4 FIRST TEAM All-Americans on a defense that gave up 552 yards in the biggest game of their lives 7 months ago. Right.

When I first read this I thought you were refering to Wesley when they got stomped by Mount in the semis. Then I realized you were talking about the latter program.

However, I'm sure those young men will do just fine this year....in the OAC  ;)

Hey 02 Warhawk, the perfect momento for any bears fan - a Bears '86 Super Bowl XX ring is going up for auction...bidding starts at $16,000 but is expected to approach $1M when completed. I'm not sure that fits your budget but the ring would certainly fit over your ring finger or whole hand - at size 25 it's the largest ring Jostens has ever produced...it belonged to the none other than William "The refridgerator" Perry!!  Time to liquidate assets.

Josh Williams of Elmhurst the AA RB?  Makes one wonder...hmmm.

Evidently UW-WHITEWATER just wasn't the right fit for him.  He was only on campus briefly before deciding to leave.  He's certainly having a lot of success at Elmhurst so it's worked out well for him in that regard.  One can always speculate about what might have been but in this instance I've got no problem with what has been.  We've got Moore, Ratliff and Patterson all returning and Elmhurst has their guy.

Well we've won 2 Stagg Bowls since he's left. So...

;)

We could have won 4.

4 in 3 years is tough to do ;)

That's how good he is  ;D

There are 247 teams in Division III. You can lose to the No. 1 team and still be a really damn good team with good players, BP.

Being selected a pre-season All American is great but being selected a post season All American is better.  In the 2014 season of the eleven players named to the offensive first team just over half (6) finished the season on the first team.  One finished on the second team and two others were designated honorable mention.  One other was injured and did not play. However being named to the pre-season second team seems to be the kiss of death.  Of those eleven only three either moved up to the first team (1) or remained on the second team (2).  The other eight were not named.

Strong programs are strong programs for many reasons not the least of which is having better players.

I get that - but 6 of 25 1st-team slots owned by one team when there are 246 other teams? Doesn't that seem a bit much?

D train- no doubt it does seem a bit much. However, when you consider the actual players- they all are really good.
I do believe there are many great players that don't make the list because of many reasons.
At least we can talk about them on the boards and give them some props.

I hear ya.  I've mentioned this once or twice...but haven't really pushed it.  Given the crew here, I'm sure they are mostly (if not completely) valid selections.  It just looks more like a North Region team rather than a National team.

Guys- it's not weird if you look at the residuals from the 2014 All-American team.  I don't think Mount Union has four of the best defensive players in the nation at their positions and I think that'll bear out at the end of the year.  But if you use last year's postseason awards as the logical starting point for forming this year's preseason list, it makes perfect sense.

So you're saying my 'feedback' is 6-6.5 months too late? (Just kidding - and it doesn't really matter anyway...)

You're defending this thing like you authored the list!!  Something that makes such perfect sense doesn't usually strike up this kind of discussion with this many people. It's being debated because it doesn't make sense.
