That's why I'm soaking up this baseball season as long as I can (Cubs just destroying the Brewers)...because I know the tables will turn once the NFL kicks off.

So is everyone else in the league.

Matt Blanchard, doing well in Packers camp (apparently)

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/packers-qb-matt-blanchard-chasing-dream-b99551836z1-321629701.html
For those of us in the Chicagoland area, the Packers game is going to be televised on the NFL network.   Personally, I have two reasons to watch; first, Scott Tolzein went to Fremd and the second, obviously Matt Blanchard.    I will actually be rooting for the pack, because I love to see New England get beat.

WHD

Add one more QB to the mix- Jimmy Garoppolo of the Patriots. Jimmy was the QB at Rolling Meadows High School- for those unfortunate non FIB's, Rolling Meadows HS is one town away from Fremd HS (Palatine). And Lake Zurich, home of Matt Blanchard, is 2 towns from Palatine.
3 local kids all playing QB tonight chasing their dreams.
I truly wish the best for all 3 and hope they each make the final 53 for an NFL team this year.

Don't kid yourself, I'm sure those in Wisconsin feel fortunate to be non-FIB's. Given a choice, who would choose to be a FIB? Blanchard made the choice and now lives on the west side of Madison with his new bride and I sure Tolzien lives around Green Bay somewhere.

In the battle of the backup QB's from the new cradle of quarterbacks last night, I think the Packer duo made the best showing. As a Packer fan, I really like our depth at the position, just wish the first team offensive could have put more than 3 point on the board after dominating the way they did. I had flashbacks to last game.

Fortunately I spend enough time (and $  :( ) in WI to counterbalance the ill effects associated w IL living.
Garoppolo struggled a bit w accuracy for sure.
I thought Tolzein looked very good, in fact he is delivering the ball much more like Rogers.
Too bad Matt didn't get much of a shot- hopefully the Pack will give him a quarter or two in the upcoming games.

Jake's getting a TD tonight. I'm calling it!  ;)

Don't know if you were able to watch it from the Wisconsin area. But, it didn't happen tonight - though the Bengals tried. I watched the game on NFL.com Game Pass. He had 1 catch for 4 yards earlier on this drive, but with about 3:40 remaining on a second and 7 from the Giant 20, the Bengal QB named K. Wenning, threw one up for Jake in the back right corner of the end zone that was underthrown and the Giant DB defending, Wade, turned around just at the right time to knock it away. Anthony Munoz, the Bengal HOF'er doing the TV color said "...he threw that really nice." But while showing the replay, the Bengal TV play-by-play guy, Brad Johansen said, 'Kumerow did a nice job on the offensive end of that to make sure he [Wade] didn't pick it.' Munoz replied "Exactly." That led to the following exchange prior to the next play (all the while showing a close up of Jake, his hair, & picture) BJ: "Have I seen him on the cover of some romantic novels?" AM: "Ah, he looks familiar...I don't know...Wisconsin-White...ah...I don't think so." The very next play (3rd down), a WR #87, on a slant had the ball bounce off his back at about the 8 that probably would have been a TD had he been ready for the pass. The OC was shown on camera mouthing the words and shaking his head to all those nearby him, "Look at the football, please! He's not even looking at the football." Kind of reminded me of the old Vince Lombardi classic, "What the hell is going on out here!" episode. On 4th and 7 from the 20, Wenning threw an INT to Wade on a bad throw, but saved the return TD when he clipped Wade to the turf with no other help around. All in all, twelve Bengals caught passes, but the leader had only 3. Bengals won the game 23-10. The star was probably the Bengals backup placekicker, I think he was an UDFA from Concordia-St. Paul by the name Obarski, as he converted 3 of 4 FG attempted (he bounced a short one off the upright) and showed a great leg on all the kick offs. He probably won't make the Bengal final roster, but I think you'll see him playing in the NFL somewhere this year.

That's the one I was banking on. I'll put my money on Jake every time in that situation against most camp players.

Oh well, I guess that drops me to 109-7 in my last 116 predictions.  ;D

I reckon I'll have to buy in to this thing.
Maybe you and Tom can figure out a way to do a video feed every now and then for us IL supporters.

I like the video feed idea.  I am signing up but slim to no chance I get to come to a meeting. I am going to try and sneak up to one. If anyone is interested in joining let me know. The players are doing a membership drive and I can hook you up with a deserving player

I will look into video conferencing. I'm not sure of the quality of sound on those things. I do have an external hand held mic that works well with my Ipad, Iphone, and Macbook Pro. I wonder if they are going to do the Coaches' Show on Kool 106.5 live? It sounded like it from the press release. I'm guessing we can figure something out. Maybe we just get a couple of mic stands and put them both in front of Coach Bullis, Gary, and guest.

It's been live on 106.5 since it began so I doubt that will change.

Great time of the year. With UWW camp opening and the Packers/Badgers already in camp for a couple weeks now, we have about 25 or so consecutive weeks of football on the schedule. The best time of the year!!
