Great review, thanks.  One minor correction...it's the Pac 12 now.

Great review indeed. +K bleed

Did Nelson really play in all 15 games last year? I don't remember him at all in the playoffs...unless he just came in to the final knee.

I'll bet a dollar he was on holder duty.

Wally wins the dollar!  It's funny because I wasn't trying to exaggerate his experience. Last night in my rush to get the summary done, I checked the UWW website to see how many games he played and I didn't even question it.  I must have been tired! I should have probably just left that fact out, even if technically correct.

And thanks for the kind words 02 and BW.

Just for clarification Nelson played the QB position in 6 of the 10 regular season games but just 1 of the 5 playoff games.  After the first playoff game the scores were much more competitive and Behrandt  was the sole QB.

Thanks for the research BW! I just changed the sentence to "Nelson played in seven games at QB last year."

To the Chicago area Flatlanders on this board:

What kind of team did Buffalo Grove H.S. have last season/traditionally and what size school is it?

Enrollment a little over 2K

Looks like they went 5-4 last season. Traditionally I think they're good, but not great. They've played Fremd a few times over the years (which WarhawkDad is very familiar with).

Thanks for the info 02 - I noticed that a couple freshmen from BG are in fall camp with the hawks. Don't know much about them except from their recruiting videos. We'll see how they perform in a couple weeks time.

The have not been a upper echelon team since Tommy Zbikowski played for them before he went on to Notre Dame and then the NFL.   While competitive with some high quality players, they have not had the depth necessary.  I have not personally seen them play for the last two years.

From Wikipedia  "In 2012, the football program was revamped by bringing in a new coach, Mike DiMatteo. After 2 seasons with the Bison, Coach DiMatteo brought the team to a 5-4 record, the school's first winning record since 2008, and barely missing its first playoff appearance in over 10 years. Prior to the years without success in the football program, the team was known as one of the best in state. In the 1990s the team frequently made playoff runs and even won the award for program of the decade."

Speaking of High School football, I am driving up to the Madison area to watch Sun Prairie (where old #65 is now coaching the varsity O-Line) to watch them play Lafollette in the first game of the season.   Looking forward to it.

SMH...I promise myself each time that I won't get suckered into these private vs. public school enrollment size debates. But I always take the bate. When will I learn?

02 Warhawk, you may feel suckered into the debate - again - but as usual you left the private schoollers hyperventilating over their keyboards. It's amazing how worked up they get over it, season after season after ... You were just doing what needed to be done. Thank you for inserting ongoing credible perspective into that debate and attempting to educate them for the umpteenth time! Some will simply never get it.

You know what Confucious said about this private vs public school debate (unbeknownst to most people, the Master actually had an opinion on this):

" The hardest thing of all is to find a black cat in a dark room, especially if there is no cat."
Unfortunately, jealousy requires them to continue debating it ad nauseam.

BTW having considerable knowledge on this subject,  ;D  I feel qualified to point this out - it's bait, not bate. As in "But I always take the bait." Bate, of course, is the Belarusian football team from the city of Barysaw. They're the reigning champions and the most successful club of the Belarusian Premier League. Of course!!
