UMHB routinely posts the scores of the top 10 D3 teams each week, which I really like/appreciate. During the playoffs they will post the scores from all the D3 games.

A LONG CLIMB BACK - JEFF BROWN: Tommies are talented enough without UW-L's help

http://lacrossetribune.com/print-specific/columns/jeff-brown-tommies-are-talented-enough-without-uw-l-s/article_addd3341-24a3-5fa9-af46-ecbbd27c757e.html

UW-L defense has its moments against Tommies

Ugly game in St. Paul this weekend.  Only 116 total yards of offense for UWL and 654 for the Tommies in a 51-7 St. Thomas win.  While I don't think anyone expected UWL to win, it is a little embarassing to only put up 116 yards of offense after all of the preseason hype that was thrown around.  We've seen these results on offense for 5 years under Coach Dettwiler - maybe time for a  new O Coordinator to mix things up?

http://uwlathletics.com/boxscore.aspx?path=football&id=2976

I clicked over to check out the webcast of the LaCrosse game - and tuned in just in time to what appeared to be a fake field goal by St Thomas.  With a 51-7 lead in the 4th qtr, I think it was.

Was I seeing things, or was St thomas looking to rub LaC's nose in it?

Ha!  Classic Tommies.  You've got to hand it to them, though.  They've taken the 'running up the score' debate in a whole new direction.  Rather than trying to justify blowout scores, they come back with "So you thought that was bad?  How about this?"

And now you know first hand why Tommies Suck!  They always have and they always will.

UW-L could be without Cummings in Texas

Cummings has been hurt quite a bit as UWL's QB - although you would be too if you were sacked 9 times every game.

That seems like a good spot. I was very pessimistic about Green Bay, but I could easily see him making a mark in Cleveland. Not that it will be easy to do so, but I think he could make that roster, something I thought was ridiculously unlikely in Green Bay.

Cleveland's starter, Josh McCown,  suffered a concussion in their game and may miss some time.  Southern Mississippi's Austin Davis is behind Manziel as their third QB.  Davis, in this third year in the NFL, was a four year starter at Southern Miss and broke all of Brett Favre's school records.

Good luck Matt.

JK, I give your "ridiculously unlikely" comment the benefit of the doubt in that you meant Matt had little chance of making the team due to the drafting of Hundley.

I feel the importance of Matt's performance in the preseason was a bit overshadowed by this thinking though. Matt wasn't just competing with the 3 above him, he was competing to prove he was worth keeping in the event one of the QB's went down, as well as making himself marketable for other teams.
It's a shame some on this board find it so necessary to point out (as though it grants QB guru status), how difficult the task was going to be for Matt to make the team- creating an almost "why is he even trying perception".
Anyway, congrats on being proven right that it was ridiculously unlikely Matt would make GB.

I really didn't think that JK was denegrating Blanchard. I think we all are a little too sensitive about "our guys." I believe he meant that since Rodgers and Tolzien were #1 and #2, and they drafted Hundley very high, all things being equal, they would keep Hundley before they would keep Blanchard. Hundley also, despite underperforming Matt (IMO) early, really looked good in the last couple of Pre-season games.

Take a chill pill.

Yes.  I think we all understood this. The dialogue at the time was that most of us looked at the situation and realized he had no shot at landing a job in Green Bay regardless of what he did. That was all we were discussing. None of us recommended packing up and going home, just that he would need to move on to continue his career. If you want to make that previous discussion about something else now, feel free to do so, but that's not what it was about then. Congratulations to Matt on making the most of a tough situation and earning a more promising one. That is great news.

It's also a shame that anyone who cast doubt on Blanchard got immediately attacked by some of the Warhawk faithful.  How dare they underestimate the potential of a three time National Champion.  Regardless of the fact that he was cut two times before the Packers signed him and he's competing against the incumbent backup and a draft pick for a roster spot.

Everyone who objectively looked at the situation for Matt knew that it was going to be an uphill battle to make the squad, particularly after they drafted Hundley.  Nobody said he shouldn't have tried, or that they were rooting against him.  I wish him nothing but the best and hope that he gets a shot in Cleveland to show how good he is in a regular season game, but don't be bitter that others held a differing opinion that wasn't all sunshine and roses.

That's just it- show me where I or other faithful weren't realistic.
We all recognized the uphill battle- we chose the positive side.

Ret, I think there is more history to this conversation than you might be aware of.
I'll stake what I replied to JK as being warranted if anybody chooses to reread or repost the original discussion.

With the signing of Brett Hundley Blanchard is now pretty much just a camp arm with a chance to win a practice squad berth. They've invested 2 years now with Tolzein and Hundley they want to build for the future. Unless Blanchard plays perfect football and makes no mistakes he's not going to make the roster. Would love it if he did but it's not going to happen guys, don't get your hopes up or hold your breath for it.

Here is Emma's overblown response:

I've often wondered what makes a guy like you tick.  What purpose does this post serve other than to come off as a guy w a grudge. Do you really feel you're performing some sort of public service as though us Matt Blanchard fans are likely to end up in severe depression or commit bodily harm if Matt doesn't make the team?
Do you think we Blanchard fans are ignorant to the task at hand?
Why not just be as positive as you can be- does that go against the grain of your personality?
I have Great Hope that Matt will defy the odds and end up with a roster spot.
Shock the world Matt.
And Jake.

Does anyone think, for once in this board's history, Emma will admit wrong? Could this be anymore cut and dry? The original topic was about Blanchard becoming a camp arm for GB, Emma teed off personally on the poster and went overboard, and now Emma states that the topic was about something else? How can you lose that much touch with reality on a consistent basis by logging in to a message board?
