I really didn't think that JK was denegrating Blanchard. I think we all are a little too sensitive about "our guys." I believe he meant that since Rodgers and Tolzien were #1 and #2, and they drafted Hundley very high, all things being equal, they would keep Hundley before they would keep Blanchard. Hundley also, despite underperforming Matt (IMO) early, really looked good in the last couple of Pre-season games.

With the signing of Brett Hundley Blanchard is now pretty much just a camp arm with a chance to win a practice squad berth. They've invested 2 years now with Tolzein and Hundley they want to build for the future. Unless Blanchard plays perfect football and makes no mistakes he's not going to make the roster. Would love it if he did but it's not going to happen guys, don't get your hopes up or hold your breath for it.

I've often wondered what makes a guy like you tick.  What purpose does this post serve other than to come off as a guy w a grudge. Do you really feel you're performing some sort of public service as though us Matt Blanchard fans are likely to end up in severe depression or commit bodily harm if Matt doesn't make the team?

Why not just be as positive as you can be- does that go against the grain of your personality?

Does anyone think, for once in this board's history, Emma will admit wrong? Could this be anymore cut and dry? The original topic was about Blanchard becoming a camp arm for GB, Emma teed off personally on the poster and went overboard, and now Emma states that the topic was about something else? How can you lose that much touch with reality on a consistent basis by logging in to a message board?

I'm confused as to why you say I say the topic was about something else- what do you mean by that?
In this case I understand why you and others may refer to my post as overblown as we probably see the original post differently.
The op said Blanchard wouldn't make the roster. I envision Matt Blanchard reading that post- or Matt Blanchard's family reading that post.
And for all people that strive to accomplish a goal against great odds I say to the OP and to you- to what benefit do you post such a thing? To what benefit JK did you post it was "ridiculously unlikely" Matt would make it?  What is the point?
Beyond the reality of the challenge of beating out the three guys - I happen to believe there are all kinds of things that could happen to turn Matt's situation around. Was it ridiculously unlikely one of the three QB's would suffer an injury?  Was it ridiculously unlikely GB would see Tolzein's contract as too expensive if McCarthy felt Hundly or Blanchard would be a serviceable backup at a lower salary?

Honestly, if Matt doesn't have a thick enough skin to get past what this message board thinks of his chances to make the team, then he doesn't belong in the WIAC, let alone the NFL.

It's also a shame that anyone who cast doubt on Blanchard got immediately attacked by some of the Warhawk faithful.  How dare they underestimate the potential of a three time National Champion.  Regardless of the fact that he was cut two times before the Packers signed him and he's competing against the incumbent backup and a draft pick for a roster spot.

Everyone who objectively looked at the situation for Matt knew that it was going to be an uphill battle to make the squad, particularly after they drafted Hundley.  Nobody said he shouldn't have tried, or that they were rooting against him.  I wish him nothing but the best and hope that he gets a shot in Cleveland to show how good he is in a regular season game, but don't be bitter that others held a differing opinion that wasn't all sunshine and roses.

Small piece of trivia related to Morningside, their HC Steve Ryan, played football at Wheaton College and graduated after a 3 year career at Linebacker in 1989. Teammate of Mugsy on the CCIW board if I am not mistaken.

Another piece of trivia regarding Morningside is that it is the alma mater of former UW-W defensive coordinator Brian Borland.

I don't equate "emma17's opinion" with "the D3 community" -- I do support the D3 community, but that doesn't mean I support each individual poster's opinion. Sorry, emma17.
