My condolences to all here that were friends with Janesvilleflash. He was a good friend to the MIAC board denizens and he was sorely missed the last few years with various health problems.

My preference is that people should feel free to post whatever opinion they want to post on whatever board they wish to post it on- as long as it's a true opinion to them and they have every intention to support it.

Holy cow.  Some of you need to go out tomorrow and buy some undergarments that fit a little looser.

Painting with a wide brush often is the wrong choice.

What I'm thinking tonight is that I wish I could enjoy one more adult beverage from the trunk of OldPa, aka the Janesville Flash.  Hoping he got that motorized bar stool in heaven.

No, but you would (and have) go on those boards and tell them why they aren't as good as your team and their conference isn't as good as yours. (officially stirring the pot). Your pot stirring posts on other topics are not as well received as you intended. I would suggest the post on MB's chances with the Pack was similarly intended and equally not as well received. The proverbial shoe is on the other foot it appears.

Like that time I recently went on the CCIW board and said the MIAC might be the best confernce?
Or times where I suggested the CCIW could be one of the best?
Are those the times?
Do you have an example of when I go on other boards to tell them their team isn't as good as ours?  Is Wabash of last year your example of this?
Are you speaking of how I felt NCC was the equal of Linfield a few years ago- as though NCC is my team?

No, not like those times. Those are good Emma, rational Emma. I should have mentioned some of those examples. It's always better to start with positives don't you think?

My overall point had nothing to do with Matt Blanchard. I have no opinion on that topci because I only saw him play a few times at UWW and I am an unabashedly pro d3 supporter of NFL players. I hoped he would make the Packers (and lose every game) and I hope he starts in Cleveland this year!

My point was more subtle and a little less relevant. I was in fact referring to your tact with the admittedly rambunctious NCAC posters as well as your passion around the Pool C discussion on the CCIW board earlier this summer. I think your passion is often read as aggression and even as an attack. I have previously stated an affinity for this style but it can come off to others as an attack on them personally or on their team. My point here was that your defensiveness and aggression toward the original poster (and Pat) is not dissimilar, from my perspective, to the reactions you received in those discussions.

So MasterJedi was Emma17 in the Matt Blanchard example and you were XXX (pick your favorite Wabash poster here) in your reaction. MasterJedi (aka synthetic Emma) came back and said "no, no, no, you are reading it all wrong" and Synthetic BashDad (aka Emma) came back and said "how dare you attack my guy and our board". We then spiraled further when other pro-UWW posters came on here belittling us "non WIAC posters" even though the original poster had a huge Warhawk emblem under his name. But I digress....

I am making and exaggerated example here to demonstrate my point, which by now is both boring and meaningless.

I understand and agree I need to work on my tact. I should use emoticons more often.
It's a challenge to me and this post of yours is a good example. Your first comment literally accused me of going onto other boards and telling them why their team isn't as good as ours or why their conference isn't as good as ours. Should I just have left this comment alone?
How do I know the difference between the self proclaimed trollers looking for me to "take the bait" while they sit back eating their popcorn and a post like yours?

You just told me how to tell the difference. You know who is who on here.

The other thing that helps me is to always understand it's never personal. It can't be. I have never met you and have no idea who you are other than some words on a message board. I can't have any idea who you are so when/if I appear to be "attacking" you or your team, you can know my passion doesn't come from a personal bias, it can't. Most "attacks" are really fueled by each posters passion for their team, their conference, their region, etc.

So there are no UWP posters here and the best analysis we have for the big NCC v UWP game is that they have 2 good players and may finish 2nd in the WIAC? I was hoping for a little more dialogue from those in the know.

Wheaton plays at UWEC tomorrow. I know UWEC isn't very good but any inside knowledge there?

That's basically it...
Kickoff predicts them as a winless 2015 team.

As for UWP, palum is a regular UWP poster here. He can probably provide the best analysis for Platteville.

I don't know all the players for UWP and they have a new DC now.
You know the issue they had last year- they were overwhelmed early in the game by NCC's run game. UWP has been recruiting good players and I'd be surprised if their overall team speed and skill isn't improved from last year. I'd also be surprised if UWP comes out of the gate slowly. This is a tough game for me as I'm a big fan of both teams.

I hope UWEC makes it more than a jv type scrimmage for Wheaton.

I received a UWW report on freshman class.
A few things caught my eye:
-62% of incoming freshman (about 2,000 total) did not receive Pell Grants or Subsidized assistance.
-85% are residents of WI. They only break out MN (7) for out of state residence.
-Arrowhead, Craig, Menomonee Falls and Mukwonago each supplied over 30 students.

UWP QB Tom Kelly is 45-48 493 yds and 7 TD's w zero turnovers. 203 efficiency rating. I know its Buena Vist and Dubuque but still. That's impressive. I suspect NCC will have it's hands full. I can't imagine UWP is happy with the last couple outings against the Cardinals and want to make a statement. This is setting up a little like the UWSP game from last year. And NCC has Wesley at home next week. Fun times.

They're primarily a passing team offensively.  Ranking last in the league in rushing offense but fourth in passing offense.  However they also rank last in scoring averaging only a touchdown so far this year.  Defensively they're seventh in scoring allowing 51 points a game.  They're slightly better defending the run where they rank 4th than the pass where they rank sixth but allow over 300 passing yards per game.   They have more than twice as many turnovers (8) as the next highest team (3).  They have trouble sustaining drives converting only 21% of their third down attempts.  They have almost twice as many penalties (20) as the next closest team (12).  They're last covering kickoffs so opponents typically start with pretty decent field position.  So far their opponents are a perfect 9 for 9, 8 of which are touchdowns, when they get in the red zone.  Their QB is a freshman who is completing 61% of his passes but has already thrown 3 interceptions.  Their leading receiver is a junior with 13 catches averaging about 80 yards a game.  It looks like they're still trying to find a primary running back. To date their quarterback has had the most yard rushing in a single game.  I'll give them credit though.  They've scheduled a difficult out of conference schedule with St Thomas, Concordia Morehead and Wheaton.

They're a young team with 75 of their 116 either freshmen or sophomores and only 15 seniors.

The stats tell us that they aren't a very good team to date.  Regardless they're one of ours and I'd love to see them get a W this weekend.  However I think it's a steep uphill climb.   Stranger things have happened.  Just not very often.

Excellent summary. Many thanks.

I was severely tempted to write a post that said simply "Blanchard has no chance with Cleveland" and just leave it sit there, but I resisted.

Maybe I'm growing up. Dang it.
