UWO jumps out to a 28-7 first quarter lead and never looks back en route to a 63-28 victory over Platteville.  Brett Kasper returns to the field and throws for nearly 400 yards and 4 TD's.  Pretty obvious how much more explosive UWO is offensively when Kasper is "under center" for UWO.

UWO hosts River Falls next week, who is one game behind UWO in the WIAC standings.

WW beats Platteville 17-7, Oshkosh  beats WW 10-7,  I was expecting a close hard fought game hopefully with the Pioneers winning with a late score.  Oshkosh totally dominated Platteville.  Platteville scores on the opening drive I'm  feeling pretty good I go to get a hot dog next  thing I know it's 7-7 and Platteville's defense can not stop Oshkosh I don't think Oshkosh punted in the first half.  Kelly had plenty of time to throw but Oshkosh had good coverage and Kelly either ran for a few yards or got sacked.  If Oshkosh plays like they did yesterday they will very tough to beat.

How was the hot dog?  What condiments did you enjoy?

Aside from cubs and the former football player, who's handle is totally escaping me right now, none of them are interested enough to involve themselves in this forum.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for what Coach Cerroni has accomplished at UWO!!!  He is one guy that I still pull for at UWO.

With that said, you won't see me step foot on the UWO campus again in support of their athletic programs....

I think Juckem is doing a good job with the MBB team and WBB is #4 in preseason polls--worth a look?

Eagles lose QB, hold off Eau Claire

QuoteOn a first-and-10 from the Eau Claire 23-yard line, Tackett was sacked by Blugolds linebacker John Endres, who had a clean shot at the Verona, Wis., native after coming free via a delayed blitz. Tackett's left shoulder was driven into the turf and he got up slowly before Dettwiler called a timeout. Tackett came out of the game and sophomore Andrew Thompson took over.

QuoteBLOCKED KICK: For the fourth week in a row, the Eagles had a kick blocked. The kick — an extra-point try after Mike Santucci's kickoff return TD — would have made the game just a little less interesting because Eau Claire's late 42-yard field-goal try would've been for a tie, not the win.

I believe UWW has sidelined the opposing team's QB 3 times in the past 4 weeks now.

The odd part is, I don't think UWW was every really able to take advantage of that. All the backups was able to keep their team in each game.

Special teams have not been very special for UWW either.  UWW has managed to have every type of kick blocked this year (extra point, field goal and punt).  In addition, they couldn't recover an on-sides kick Saturday that gave UWSP the ball with a chance to tie at the end of the game.  Return yards are almost non-existent.  The saving grace is that the coverage teams haven't allowed a TD.

UWO Titan 78

I have seen an evolution in the Titan squad the last few weeks. I've watched the Whitewater and Platteville games online, and the Titans look much improved from what I saw in person against Robert Morris. The Titans would've won the RMU game with a better special teams' performance. It appears these problems have been corrected. The Titans have been solid in their special teams play in WIAC play. RMU had a really athletic defense that flew to the football. The Titan game plan didn't really seem prepared for it. I think they thought they would just punch them in the mouth and run all over them. They have utilized the screen game much more effectively in recent games, and with Kasper back the team is much more dynamic offensively. Defensively, the Titans have been stout in the front seven most of the season. However, the secondary is playing with more confidence. Against RMU they played a lot of off coverage and allowed players to catch the ball and then they tried to make tackles. The athleticism of the RMU receivers hurt the Titans for some big plays. The Titan DBs now seem to be playing tighter coverage and breaking better on the ball, perhaps more comfortable with each other. If this unit continues to grow and their key pieces stay healthy, this team will be a tough out in the post-season.

^^
Your Titans are definitely playing good football.
I wish we could have seen Kasper go the full game vs UWW. He did lead UWO on its only TD drive.
The Titans have solid players and coaching. The playoffs will be very interesting.

I'm uncertain what to make of the UWP game. I felt UWO was the better team, but not to that extent.
Imo UWP should have blown their bid for a Pool C with that type of loss, but you never know what the committee will do.

Just because we don't post on D3boards.com doesn't mean we aren't interested. Living in Mke all I hear in the news is UWW so hopefully UWO will start to get some publicity as the post-season approaches. Go Titans!

Interesting poll question on D3 Football home page- "Which of these top 10 teams is most overrated?"
As of this writing:
136 voters feel Wesley at #4 is the most overrated.
109 voters feel UWW at #7 is overrated.  UWW is the third leading vote getter for overrated.
I do realize some voters base their vote on how the team has looked up to today, as opposed to "who would win if these two teams played".

I'm interested in the thought process of those that placed the 109 votes.  No doubt UWW doesn't look like 2014 UWW.  To be overrated at #7 means the voters feel UWW should be #8, 9 or 10- or lower.  It reminds me of the many times posters have written, going into the playoffs or advancing to the next round in the playoffs in previous years, that UWW has problems and isn't this or that.

Is this a year where the doubts will be proven justified or will UWW, once again, find a way to win?
For those that vote from the perspective of "who would win if these two teams played", I'm a bit surprised by the number of people that, in effect, feel this team can't get it done.

You must a be a see the tree guy....when you should be looking at the forest.  ;)  Emma is raising a legitimate and interesting question.   The question is...Were people responding to the poll, just casting their vote based upon the fact that UWW has not dominated and lost to UWO or are they doing a little bit more analysis and saying Would UWW beat this ranked team or that ranked team?   When I voted, I did the later and looked at who I thought UWW would beat in the top 10, if the game were played today.   Based upon that I believe UWW is fine at 7 and could be a little higher.   I legitimately think UWW would have competitive games and potentially beat a team or two ranked above them.   In no way shape or form do I think someone thinking we are overrated at this point, given how UWW has played, is disrespect. Our inconsistency and play deserves that skepticism.

It might surprise you to know that a majority of the active UWW posters actually agree that so far this year UWW has not been the UWW of the last two years.  Our hope is that as the season goes on the new coaching staff and the players find a consistency of high performance that we have only seen glimpses of this year.

I voted for Wesley  ;D  4 seems awfully high for them. I think 7 is about right for UWW. Which teams behind are better? I suppose you could make a case for Wheaton or Wabash, but after that? Tough sledding. So at most 2 spots high. You can't tell me you don't think UWO, St. Thomas, UWW, Wheaton, or Wabash could make a case against Wesley right now. So they are possibly 5 high. Johns Hopkins has had some good battles with Wesley but not gotten over the hump, so I'm still drawing the line there.

Does that mean I think Wesley or UWW would lose to those teams? No, but I wouldn't bat an eye and start screaming massive upset. So that made it Wesley in my mind...
