Talk about a hit and run...would have loved to seen his account's email address before the meathead deactivated his account. Curious who that was

Well, there you go -- we finally got one. :)

Nevermind...I have a good idea now.

Love it!

Well what he said was not wrong, Oshkosh would never play in Greenbay and Oshkosh did beat WW on there 3rd string quarterback.  I think that's saying something.

D3 Wizard,
I'm glad you stopped in.  I happen to agree with you in that UWO seriously outplayed UWW this season and you're absolutely right in saying they did so with a 3rd string QB.  I've often wondered what the score would have been had Kasper been able to play the full game.
I can tell you that this UWW fan is hopeful the coaching staff learned many lessons from the approach they took to that game (it seems they have based upon recent games).

Don't be a stranger to the board.

Emma,

Very good post, I would of liked to seen that to.  In a perfect world I would love to see a UWO vs WW championship.  Glad to see not all WW fans are arrogant.

This is a big opportunity for UWO.  They proved themselves in 2012 when they had a superstar QB, I think the rest of D3 wants to see if UWO is championship caliber as a team.  I hope they do well, up until.... you know.

As for the UWW fans and arrogance, I think part of it is that we often find ourselves having to defend outside perceptions of why UWW is doing so well.  Many of us were around in the days when UWW wasn't so good, and we've seen the tremendous amount of effort from all aspects that have been put into the program.
If you met these fans at a tailgate party, I'm sure you'd like them all.

I think you overestimate what the rest of D-III wants. :)

Good point. I stand corrected I'm sure D3 has had enough WIAC.

Not specific to this post- I see Morninside is #1 NAIA again.

As a D3 fan, that is satisfying.  I thought it was kind of funny to see the NAIA boards erupt with criticism for Morningside after they lost to UWW (the implication being that Morningside was overrated and the "#1 vs. #1" showdown wasn't really putting the best of the NAIA vs. the best of D3).  I hope Morningside wins it all this year - then UWW can take credit for being the loss they needed to get over the hump!
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Mr. Ypsi

Not to mention that (as of this moment) that means #6 D3 beat #1 NAIA! ;D

If UW-Oshkosh gets a home game in December, I've heard they will play at Lambeau Field.  ???  Is that possible under NCAA rules?

You've created a fascinating, yet horrifying mental picture - UW-Oshkosh football, struggling to get a crowd of 450 or so people,

??? UWO is averaging 1,740 fans per game this season.

Well, duh, with that 450 number I used I was implying that Oshkosh doesn't draw very well in football. It wasn't literally 450 - figured everyone knew that...smh!! (at first, I was going to use 250, but I thought that was a little lite  ;D )   Even with a decent team and a student body of 14,500 students in a city of 66,000+, they can barely draw a crowd, 1,740 is a terrible average. Anybody who knows anything about UW-Oshkosh knows they have a long history of not winning much on the football field, in addition of not drawing crowds for anything in Titan Stadium.  The two probably go hand in hand. The school and community have a long way to go to change the culture there.

I feel the same. I have to give the NAIA credit as well for giving the ranking - I admit I thought it possible the voting members might intentionally withhold the #1 ranking to "save face".  Credit to them.

Well, of course you were exaggerating, BoBo. Duh right back at you. But your statement, like the exaggeration itself, is seriously overstated. UWO is in the top half of D3 in average attendance.

Yeah, the Titans don't draw what they should, considering the size of the community and the strength of the program. (The size of the school doesn't necessarily matter, since there are plenty of large-population schools whose students are indifferent towards the school's athletics, particularly in the smaller divisions and particularly at a school like UWO whose population is 2/3rds commuters.) I think that your general point is valid. But you're overstating the matter.

Do you have a source to confirm that, or are you just fighting an overstatement with bigger, better overstatement?

BoBo,

UWO has won 2 of the last 4 WIAC championships, how is that not winning?  and winning 2 of the last 4 WIAC championships is pretty impressive considering it is always the toughest conference in the country.  I would consider that turning the program around? but who knows that's just my opinion.
