I can't believe that with this game coming up this weekend that this is what the topic of discussion is.  I am glad a few people have given some insight into the game.  Hopefully more of you who are fans of both teams will also add some insight for those of us on the outside looking in.

That's bulk for yah...falsely pointing fingers at others for saying something they didn't just to stir the pot. Since yesterday I stopped reading anything he posts....too distracting.

But I agree, most of us here in the WIAC would love to talk about the game this weekend...rather than these hypothetical coaching what-if scenarios from 8 or 9 year ago.

However, current coaching selections for UWEC and UWL is a very relevant topic and worth discussing here.

As a fan, I'm nervous for this game. As a former player, I'm proud to be a Titan right now. In the last 10 years, I think UWW has had a 2-loss (or more) season twice. To ask the same team to beat them twice in the same season is a tall task. However, I don't think this Titan squad sees themselves as underdogs. And they shouldn't. Not only have the Titans proven they can play with the Warhawks, they have proven they can beat them. I think this game will be a four-quarter affair, and I'm happy it will be at Titan Stadium. The Titans don't have a huge home-field advantage, but winning at the Perk is tough to do anytime, and in the playoffs it is probably tougher. As most games do, especially in the WIAC, this will come down to who can control the trenches. The Titans limited the Warhawks' big plays in the first meeting, and they will need to do so again to pull out the victory. These teams know each other so well, so I can't see a game played in the 30's. The Titans tend to play an ultra-conservative game against the Warhawks and try to steal it in the 4th quarter. I don't like playing with fire, but I will not question anything Coach Cerroni does at this point. This game could very well come down to special teams. The Titans have been better in this department as the season has progressed. Will they be good enough on Saturday? I'm predicting a 24-20 game, but I'm not sure which way it will go. My head is telling me it will be the Warhawks, but my heart lies with the Titans. Hail Titans!

You've got plenty of reasons to be proud of UWO - and not just the wins and losses.
I understand completely your point about the ultra-conservative approach to be in position to win at the end- it's nerve wracking to say the least. Yet both teams have proven it to be a winning formula.

I agree UWO shouldn't view themselves as underdogs- the question is how will they perform in the role of the favorite with the target on their backs.
This should be a Jim Dandy.

Tough to tell who the underdog is in the game. Maybe UWW since they already lost at Oshkosh once already this year? That might even be a stretch though.

Given that the first matchup was so close, I think UWW's overall dominance over the last decade kind of makes them the favorite even though they've technically lost to UWO already this season.

As an outside/neutral observer, even with the earlier result, it would surprise me more to see UWO win (again) this weekend than it would surprise me to see UWW win.  If I check in on Saturday and see that UWW has taken the lead, I'll probably be thinking something like "Hats off, Warhawks, you just can't kill these guys."  If I check in and see that UWO is leading, I'll be thinking "Wow! They did it! Twice in one season!"
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Looks like the change some UWEC fans asked for are coming.
Rumor has it UWEC won't be the only WIAC team with a new coach heading into next season....
Like I was saying....  Just wasn't able to get confirmation and didn't want to start a "rumor."

Any idea why they waited until two weeks after the final game?  You would think they would have fired him right away if it was the plan.

Maybe some of the Coach/Player conflicts came to light in post-season meetings?

You are suggesting I've done this - falsely pointing fingers - before. So what are you implying, 02?
Put up an example, or shut up, on this one, before you go besmirching me again, pal.
Or am I inferring incorrectly again?
No, wait. This message is falling on tone deaf ears. You've stopped reading anything I've posted since yesterday. Never mind...

With openings at UWEC and UWL, will we see some of the same candidates that UWW had last year?

UW-Whitewater Announces Head Football Coach Finalists
http://www.uwwsports.com/news/2015/1/16/FB_0116150510.aspx

Rob Erickson - DC at UWW.  This makes the most sense in my mind for either program, a WIAC guy through and through who has been an AHC/DC for a while now.

David Taynor - HC at Lock Haven University.  Took the Lock Haven job after not getting the UWW role.  Unlikely.

Dean Paul - HC at Ohio Northern.  Went 9-3 this year, with two of those losses to UWO and Mount Union.  Possible that he is interested.

Erik Raeburn - HC at Wabash.  Team is currently 12-0 and plays St. Thomas this weekend.  I would doubt he has interest, but would be a top candidate if he is.

Hoping to get a little discussion started on this (and away from semantics and finger pointing......)

In all honesty, I don't see any of the remaining finalists for the UWW job being interested in either WIAC head coaching opening. But I bet some of the initial applicant pool will cross over.

Love how I post here and I get negative Karma, some of you are a joke.  And yes I am pretty sure it was from this sight since I dont get dinged anywhere else when I post.

Thanks for providing the hard-hitting insights you're looking for here, and for calling out some of whom "are a joke," to use your words...
I haven't ever dinged you, but I could if you'd like...

With both EC and LaX looking for a HC which job is more attractive?

Both are on the western side of the state were reciprocity with Minnesota helps recruiting
Both are located in cities of similar size
LaX has some program history
Both schools have had success in other sports Lax in track and EC just won the D3 CC championship
Similar sized stadiums LaX is on campus  but Carson Park is kind of neat with the Hank Aaron history and statute
EC has a slightly bigger student body

What am I missing?
