I'm amazed at how little talk there is about the Osh/WW game. What little I've seen seems to concede the game to WW. Why? Osh won the first one. They play at  home. They should be favored and should win--unless they believe that their first game was a lucky outcome, and that WW can't be beaten because of previous success. WW looked to be less than a juggernaut when they played RF, even though the score was of blowout proportions. Stats were almost even. WW quarterbacking was very ordinary. Go Titans! A changing of the guard is imminent, and eventually unavoidable.

I hope everyone in the country who posts or follows D3boards reads this thread. Because THIS is the problem with the WIAC board, not UW-W posters.

Someone else offers their opinion on this week's big game, and the response is....

Exactly. Imminent. No more juggernaut at UW-W. Watch the game and enjoy the demise Fred. UW-W has no shot. Looking forward to reading your comments after the game.

And thanks for posting your analysis of the Whitewater 42-6 win over River Falls. Not nearly as impressive as last year's 28-25 win at Falls by UW-W's eventual National Champion. And you have a good point in using the Falls game as a measuring stick. The River Falls game is always a red circle game for the folks here at UW-W.

Sheesh.  That thing you said above about the the WIAC board?  Maybe it would ring a little truer if you didn't act like such a dick when someone posts a different opinion than yours?  Where's that quote from emma earlier this year about respecting other people's opinion?

I don't think he's using only the score of the River Falls game as the only measuring stick; he (probably) brought it up because that's the game he actually saw this year?  After all, emma is a proponent of using the eye test and actually watching teams play to evaluate them, instead of just looking at scores.  If ol' Fred was at the UWW vs. UWRF game and thought UWW was unimpressive by their usual can-they-win-a-national-championship standards (even after acknowledging that the game was lopsided), even pointing out a specific area of concern, it seems like relevant information.  I mean, after all these years, you guys can watch UWW against lesser opponents and see a difference between when they look crisp and dominant, and when there's still work to be done to get to title-winning form, right?

Kinda reminds of the Animal House exchange: "They can't do that to our pledges!  Only we can do that to our pledges!"

WIAC board: "They can't criticize our Warhawks!  Only we can criticize our Warhawks!"

Last Year: UWW got lucky against UWRF, there's no way they can win the national championship this year!
This Year: UWW won by 36 but the stats were about even so they're no good! Changing of the guard!

Looks pretty ridiculous when you look at it that way, right? Proves you can't look at each game in isolation. A lot of teams don't look good when they have to travel up to hickville (sorry, this has more to do with living in the Milwaukee area, any town up there is hickville) and being on a bus for 5+ hours. As you can see nobody here thinks that this is likely a 50/50 game and UWW or UWO could win.

Why does this need to be so belittling, bp?

Because it's the only way we can get you to stop by and say hi.

How is my post belittling?  Who did I personally attack or go after? I will be waiting for your post reprimanding extartan for his response. I write a tongue-in-cheek post that attacks no one personally, and you feel the need to accuse me of belittling. Extartan says I act like a "dick" and I'm guessing you don't have the guts to call him out on it.

At least I didn't use bold or caps. I'd probably be banned...

Sarcasm has been used as a form of humor in comedy for decades. The only people who usually get offended by it are people who take themselves way too seriously. To quote another comedic classic, "Lighten up Francis".

My guess is that Fred laughed at my post. Unless he too has caught the disease of choosing to be offended at every turn.

You do take yourself pretty seriously, don't you Ex-Tartan?

What exactly is the big deal? bp didn't use bold, CAPS or italics - it was all such harmless fun - everything should be good to go then!!  Maybe use your "A" material next time, bp, and really go out with a bang.

Who hit the "report to moderator" link and why does it go directly to the inbox of extartanplayer? Is it his job to act as the conscience of this board?

As George Carlin once said in a standup routine, (paraphrasing) "When you think of some of the things I've said about people, you'd think I really don't like people. But, I really do like people, I really do - but only in short bursts of time.  I have a low tolerance for stupid a$$ bull**** like this."

Somebody understands my humor. It's so refreshing to be understood.  And point well made. It never even crossed my mind that post would be rebuked. My A material has to be far removed from the earshot (or eyes)  of the sensitivity police.

Humor at the expense of others posters shouldn't be tolerated. Sarcasm is acceptable but I can't say it's at all clear which posts are sarcastic and which are just plain mean.

Harvard, in the extreme, sucks at football but it doesn't really worry them.

Harvard was 9-1 this season, won (co-champ) the Ivy League and along the way defeated their #1 rival - but they suck? Ok fine, so where does that leave your johns? Finished second in their conference and lost not once, but twice to their biggest rival - awful, dreadful...?

Before the season, jknezek made the mistake of suggesting that it was "ridiculously unlikely" that Matt Blanchard would make the Packers (in a post where he was pretty highly complimentary of Blanchard) and a couple pages of "GTFO, heathen!" ensued.  Some of you guys have no problem telling other people what they're allowed to say in here.

If that's considered mean maybe the board should create a safe space that's free of micoaggressions and has trigger warnings and we only talk about positive things and fluffy bunnies.  :-X ::)
